How would you characterize this game in terms of decisions? A telling review of Four Against Darkness I saw that spoke directly to my sensibilities asserted that 4ED is very low on decisions, to the point that it plays almost automatically. This was disappointing to hear. How is D100 Dungeon on this front? Lots of meaty decisions? Trade-offs? Or is everything a dice roll, and you're just along for the ride?

I’ll start out with the first 2 books and go from there. If it becomes a regular game for me, I’ll consider the box set, which as you say, is pricey, but the convenience factor looks pretty high. Hey man unrelated to D100 Dungeon, but i remember reading some of Michael Cisco on your recommendation, and I am playing through the pc game Disco Elysium, I think you would appreciate that game, it has some superb writing I feel :)
Well, $176 gone. :( edit: I got the D100 Dungeon, Adventurer's Companion, and The Lost Tome of Extraordinary Rules (all hard cover). I also picked up the Mapping Game, Spell Deck, and Tracker. I passed on The Dragon Armor Adventure 1 mostly because I'm into rogue-like type games more than campaigns. I almost passed on the Adventurer's Companion, but I bought it mostly for the Witchery system.
I played this for a month or so when it was free. I LOVED it.....until I tried to play something other than a warrior. Very unbalanced and they never tried to fix those parts of the game that I know of. I would love to see a game developer go on the, tune it up, fix issues and stream line it.

But with the diversity of content in 4AD, the add-ons are alternative rather than built-in, unlike the D100. That does not allow, for example, to play 7 books. This is the main minus. I also like the D100 combat system less than in 4AD. If it were possible to take the battle rules from 4AD and slightly modify, an ideal game about dungeons would turn out. Well, you can always play every fight on the DUN system) We get a ready-made generator :D
I enjoyed D100 for a short while before I started craving more. I realized that I needed more than the simple (B/W) kill-loot-and-level-up dungeon crawlers of the "classic D&D mold". Four Against Darkness, D100 and all the other PnP style mapping dice-chuckers just become the same. Or maybe it's my own restlessness when playing these type of games - I want to BE the DM again. I want to CREATE worlds. So, yeah, that's what I've been doing since...creating my own R&W/PnP exploration book. But yeah, it's a lot of hard work...

FYI: this game PDF is *NOT* printable as you suggest in the video. The PDF is locked for editing/printing from DriveThruRPG. Even the character sheets in the PDF itself cannot be printed.
Late to the party on this. I am curious, I am making a home brew OSR type hex crawl. I am looking for a quick on the fly dungeon generator. Would the dungeon generator in this game work for this.? I am using BX as a rule set. I realize it would require some tweaking just curious if it would be worth the undertaking.
Does anyone know how to get the printed version of the mapping game in the UK other than ridiculously expensive shipping from US??? The Game Crafter doesn’t give you a quote for import costs, just shipping!

I have not done videos on the campaigns yet! Need to.
There is a fan made adventure on BGG which looks VERY good too “The Lost Temple of Aphosh The Haunted”. It looks to be even more of a module.

They must have changed it. I have version 2 printed and all kinds of character sheets printed. You can get those from BGG.

It looks really interesting. For a beginner solo gamer, would you recommend this system or Scarlet Heroes?
Both would be good. Depends on what you want. If you want a game focused on dungeon crawling, get D100. If you want a more open RPG, get SH.
