Labeled seat switch knob part numbers:
Left seat track adjustment handle (the horizontal knob) = 12790957
Left seat back recliner adjustment handle (the vertical knob) = 12790958
Right seat track adjustment handle (the horizontal knob) = 12791024
Right seat back recliner adjustment handle (the vertical knob) = 12791025
Door sill protection part numbers:
Vector - Left side = 12803115 / Right side = 12803118
Arc - Left side =12803114 / Right side = 12803117
Aero - Left side = 12803116 / Right side = 12803119
Turbo X - Left side = 12781860 / Right side = 12781861
9-3X - Left side = 12783600 / Right side = 12783601

Great work. I swear you look like Chip Foose bro. I just bought a 2004 Saab 9-3 Aero; fulfilled a dream of mine since I was a teenager. Your videos have been a real help to me. Interesting. My 2004 9-3 has a light up trunk switch. Just not a light up ism. But I bought the resistors and leds and soldered them in. Now have both
Thanks for this video, just ordered an 03’ trunk button for my 2008 Aero! Also there are two 03’ SAAB 9-3s at my local pick and pull with the ISMs!! So I will go grab one for my 08’ as well.
I didn’t even know a boot release switch was a thing! I might need to install one now, especially after adding the LED’s to my ISM…
Interesting that the 2008 button has a 3 pin connector as well. Did you test the 2008 button to see if it lit up after adding the third wire? That would have been crazy if it did!
Exactly I thought it was strange too! So I did actually test the original 2008 button after adding the additional wire and it didn't light up. Not sure why it's a 3 pin though.
@@WeakestofWeeks Yes you can add the less to old new style switch!! That's why the pin was left behind. My dad did it with extra leds we had from a custom light up ism we built. I actually recommend it because the 2003 leds usually weak.
Great video - as usual - helpful and informative. Just installed an illuminated boot release on my 08 convertible. Had to install the switch and harness as mine didn’t have a switch to begin with 👌
I was fed up not being able to release the boot without taking the keys out of the ignition and using the fob - now I just have to be careful to not press the switch whilst driving and rummaging in the door pocket 🤣

Hello! Thanks for the great content! I just got a saab 9-3 2008 and I will watching your videos and they have been very helpful. I am doing this mod too. I ordered a used switch and a harness that also have the courtesy light. I completed the connection for the trunk switch and I was expecting to also have working courtesy lights, but they did not work:( even when the missing wires for those are part of the main door connector. Do you know if the courtesy lights need to be activated with the Tech2? thanks
Looks like they probably share the lights on the door lock power and the ground of the button
Thanks for showing this I was able to get a 03 trunk switch but someone took the harness so I was waiting for another one. Now I think I'll just get a wire with the snap connector and and solder it together like you did. I'm curious and I'm sure it didn't but did you see if the 08 switch lite up with the new wire? Hi Phillip! Fortunately any year NG9-3 truck harness connector will work since you just need to harvest 1 pin from it. I did test the 08 button with the additional wire to illuminate and it didn't light up. Strange once everything was wired up and it didn't light up. Odd that it's a 3 pin switch though.

correct. You can solder in some resistors and LEDs for the newer ones, though :)
Yep exactly! I was lucky enough to find an original 03 light up ISM and install it.
Damn you!!!! Now I need to check mine! I wonder if the other switch still has everything inside like the ISM, just lacking the actual LED....
That's a good question since the non light up one is still a 3 pin. I will say if anybody can make the original light up it'd be you!!

I have a fully loaded 2003 9-3 Vector and it does not have the markings on the seat buttons, thankfully. They're not necessary and too busy looking. I would've skipped that one.
