The actor playing Chris Paronto, Pablo Schriber, had a starring role in the Halo series and was also in Den of Thieves. "Oz", "Tig" and "Tanto" served as advisors for this film. Mark “Oz” Giest and Kris “Tanto” Paronto have done a guest interview on The Shawn Ryan Show talking about their experiences on what happened that night. This movie was based on a book on what happened that night, it was written by the guys (Mark “Oz” Giest and Kris “Tanto” Paronto were some of the writers) that werethere and had a hand in helping making this movie. A former CIA analyst Sarah Adam’s was on the Shawn Ryan show was part of the team that tracked who were a part of the attack. And in the interview she mentions that the reason the QRF didn’t leave initially was because that “Bob” lied to them say FEB 17 was being sent/deployed, but that the 1st phone call from Bob to Feb 17 he learnt that Feb 17 was not going to send anyone that night

17thFEB refers to the February 17th Martyrs Brigade, a Libyan paramilitary organization that was named after the February 17th 2011 "Day of Rage" protests in Libya, in which Gaddafi HARSHLY dealt with militarily, which is in turn one of the main triggers for the entire Libyan civil war, the US government actually asked for their help, but the request was ignored at first, it wasn't until the Ansar al-Sharia fighters began firing on the 17thFEB that they actually got in the fight, even though they were present observers during the initial attacks on the ambassadors compound by Ansar al-Sharia.
One of my funniest memories of watching this when my cousin, who works at Paramount, got us into a sneak screening on the lot is one of the execs standing up, pumping his fist, and screaming, “Yeah!” when it got to the “You’re in our world now” line. If you had draped an American flag on him and perched a bald eagle on his shoulder, you couldn’t find a person who wanted everyone to know he was patriotic more than that guy.
Had a similar experience. Went to see it the day it came out after work. And there was one guy in the theater that had to be military he was wearing his camo pants and shirt and was going crazy throughout the movie!
Years ago when I found out John Krasinski was almost Captain America I was like "Yeah right." Then this came out.....and I can definitely see it. (Chris Evans was perfect though).
Such an unfortunate and incredible story. There is very little that can get tears out of me. Anything pertaining to our service people is one of those things. This movie always gets me. Very accurate account as well. Another great top billing for James Dale is The Empty Man. Almost never hear anyone say anything about this movie and it’s criminally under rated. Y’all definitely need to react to it. James Dale is great in it as well.
great movie, great reaction. so many great scenes, the one that really got me was at the very end when the people of Libya apologized for the actions of their countrymen. this movie and the actual events became very politicized. should react to Tears of the Sun by Antoine Fuqua. another brothers in arms movie, led by Bruce Willis
This Movie!!! I watched it in theaters after i graduated Basic Training. Was out maybe few days and it blew my mind and made me feel pride knowing we have people who fought for us when it should of never happened. I will forever cherish this movie as my intro into the service and my pride.
I’m so glad he recognized him from suits because I was like “holy shit that’s Daniel hardman. I forgot he was in this.” I’ve been watching that show. Currently on the last season.
This movie is a lot like the Big Short. It wants to tell the story of a massive crisis but everyone knows you cant make the movie if you criticize the wrong people so those that are the most culpable are just left out. The events are important enough that it's still worth showing but it's up to the audience to do their own digging.
57:29 you guys asked the question “where’s our government” well it was Hillary Clinton’s call to not send help to those Americans in Benghazi she would have let every single one of them die if it went the way she wanted

Controversy or not on this whole movie and the Benghazi situation in general, seeing this movie in Dolby was geniunely the best war movie in theaters. The score hit hard and one of Bay's top 3 movies.
Sean Smith used to play in the game eve online and used to say he was “part of a secret ops mission abroad” no one believed him and then the community found out about his death in Benghazi the beacons lit up the galaxy in memory of Sean RIP Vile Rat (eve online gamertag)
One of my favorite war related movies so good but so sad and hard to watch! The fact that the arm scene was completely real gets me every time along with so much more from this one.
I am not a fan of Michael Bay, but this is definitely his best work in my book. I appreciate that he actually approached the event respectfully to those who had to endure that long night in Benghazi. I heard he even got “Tanto”, “Oz”, and “Tigg” to be his technical advisors which explains why in the end credits you got to see their faces and see more information about them.
Thanks to you guys for deciding to watch this. I remember a few years ago there was a dismissive outlook of: "Its probably one of those 'Murica, f-ck yeah' movies, so we're gonna pass'." - So, I'm glad there was a reconsideration.
Reel Rejects choosing 13 Hours to review is brilliant!!! Top notch action movie based on real events and who woulda thunk it is done by Michael Bay?! I was a flight attendant in 2012, and our flights to and from Tripoli were changed after September, from layovers to turnarounds, meaning the on-ground hours are kept to a minimum. I was on one of those flights and operated the return leg. Didn’t watch the news and had had no idea the flight schedule change was because of the attack
Just so the understanding is there...we call helmets brain buckets for a reason...they are not bullet-proof. if you take a direct shot (depending on caliber) you're pretty much as good as dead, they are intended to help prevent traumatic injury from shrapnel. Catching angled ricochets is very lucky
I never understood the hate Michael Bay gets. I know his Transformers movies have a lot of problems, many of them his doing, but his human-centered action movies are always good, including this one. And this one is actually a true story. From what I understand, it's pretty accurate to what happened.
Some of us were definitely hoping that maybe this really signified a new maturity to Bay's films in the future, that he was finally going to show some uncharacteristic restraint moving forward ... and then his next film was Transformers The Last Knight ... yeah, that didn't last long ...
Also the ambassador security detail was called back and all he had was those state department guys, and state department regulations are to keep weapons locked up 1 more reason this crap went all wrong

Amal is Henri, not CIA guy. I agree, how many more have to die at the hands of gov malice before justice is done?
The movie tells the story, and the story is damning. Our government at the time left those men to basically die because it would have been political suicide to admit "smart power" had failed so spectacularly
I remember when this came out I was like Jim from The Office in a Michael Bay film!? Was amazed how intense it was!
I read that Sean Smith the IT guys last message on his group game chat was somewhere on the lines of "Guys gotta go there's an emergency"
More recently James Badge Dale played the lead in a truly fascinating and feeply unsettling (in the best way) cosmic horror called The Empty Man. You're right, Andrew, he's got some swerious chops and he REALLY does a beautiful job of carrying the film in THIS one.
What is the BEST War Movie of the 2010s??
2015 Beasts of No Nation
2016 Hacksaw Ridge
Fury 2014
Zero Dark Thirty is amazing
Fury.
Hacksaw Ridge.
Zero Dark Thirty.
Fury
Hacksaw Ridge
Zero Dark Thirty
ACT OF VALOR DEFINITELY!!!
What in the hell was the Ambassador doing in Benghazi away from the Embassy? This movie always makes me burn because the bastards calling the shots let this happen and were never held responsible, at least publicly. Damned politicians and bureaucrats.
Amen the politicians and most of all Hillary Clinton are responsible for all that happened. I’m not the one who will pass final judgment but I’d be surprised if they don’t burn for this
Hillary Clinton got away with murder.
You mean Hillary?
Hillary cockblocked all the dod help from coming cuz it wouldve drawn attention.
Cia was there cuz they were running weapons to al qaeda. In order 2 engage in covert actions like that an overt diplomatic presence is required
IIRC his main job as Ambassador was to facilitate arms shipments into the middle east through Benghazi to be used in the ouster of Bashar al Assad (sounds familiar to what just happened in Syria this January ... )
it still surprises me that Michael Bay directed this. such a good film
Such a good action film!
Based on a true story!
War is hell for anyone that has lived through it and has experienced it.
man I watch this movie like every few months just perfect in my opinion
Can we get a "Triple Frontier" reaction with Andrew and John!? If they haven't seen it yet, I'd love to see their reaction with that all-star cast!
1 of my fav military based movies literally cried near the end
Oooh, excited you're reacting to this. It's so underrated.
Ooh I would have never expected you guys to cover this movie! Very underrated movie that flew under the radar and never made any buzz which was surprising because it was based on a real events. I've seen this movie a handful of times and it really is a solid action flick. 👍
Michael Bay was Locked in like shit for this movie. He loves the military and gave them the respect in his epic way
James Badge Dale did an awesome job, he's also great in 'The Pacific'
About the Punisher Patch that John Krasinski is wearing... I believe that Chris Kyle (American Sniper) was one of the first to use it as a SEAL and after a while most of his team used it as an unofficial for their team (I belive it was SEAL Team 3)
The government failed us that day. They had the power and means to deploy but they did nothing
Direct predecessor of what we are now dealing with. No justice became the standard. Now the whole world is on fire b/c the gov isn't held accountable.
Rip to the fallen ! And the deleted emails
Oh man. My absolute favorite movie! I was waiting for you guys to do this!
It’s super accurate. Some of the dialogue is said by other people who didn’t want to be public with their identity but it was overlooked by the guys who were actually there!
This movie sent me down a rabbit hole of everything behind the scenes that went down prior and after this
If you havent seen movie Hotel Mumbai then please do, just as impactfull as this movie. Also partially based on true events.
Michael Bay is the only one that could bring this true story to life in my opinion. Because it was just as a hectic war zone as you saw.
James Badge Dale. That dude is awesome. For me, he's one of those guys that makes me want to watch a movie just because he's in it.
@ All the more power to them. It’s a very rallying film that does stir you to care about the whole squad and want to cheer when they succeed.
Definitely! It was cool to see just funny to experience. I remember the same thing happening when I went to see Battle: Los Angeles.
I loved that line when passing that shop with the soccer game on. I wonder if he can get the Broncos game!
This is probably my favorite Michael Bay movie. Casting, storyline, the way it was shot, music…everything was spot on.
great movie, great reaction. so many great scenes, the one that really got me was at the very end when the people of Libya apologized for the actions of their countrymen. this movie and the actual events became very politicized.
should react to Tears of the Sun by Antoine Fuqua. another brothers in arms movie, led by Bruce Willis
Shawn Ryan just did an interview on his podcast with the real Tanto (Pablo Schreiber in the movie) that’s very interesting
Excellent movie. Really sheds light on a real event that didn't get enough exposure.
Clearly you don't watch any news media AT ALL if you think this event didn't get enough exposure
@@reconsoldier135not enough to hold those idiots responsible for this disaster.
@ lol “disaster” 🤣🤣🤣. A disaster is invading Iraq under false pretenses, this was a bad day
@@reconsoldier135 oh I see. You are defending the leadership we had when this happened. Just shows you care more about defending politicians than American veterans and employees who have died because of incompetent leadership. This was more than just a bad day people died.
@ lol I don’t give a fuck about politicians, I care about people’s deaths being exploited for political purposes
The guy on the TV is John "Tig" Tiegen who was actually one of the real life soldiers that was there in Benghazi as one of the 6 soldiers in the movie but now another actor named Dominic Fumusa plays his character
No shit?
Finally getting to this reaction. John Krasinski is my favorite actor. And probably my favorite movie he’s in. I cannot wait to watch with y’all. This hit me hard and hope y’all enjoy it as much as I did. Love you John. Love you Andrew ❤❤
What's crazy is the picture of the actors and the real operators. The actors look just like the operators it's wild
This movie is a roller coaster of emotions
As good as this movie was its really important if you want to see what happened to view the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence's exhaustive review
Great reaction as always. I would highly recommend doing your own research into this event.
Amazing movie, I can't stop watching it.
This was a pleasant suprise to see. A great underrated war movie. I personally love Michael bays films they're a lot of fun. And while this is one of his more serious films. I think he does a great job. Of how bad this event really was. Incredibly well done.
Surprise.
@GT_1307 yeah? I spelt it right
One Of My Fav/ Greatest Movies/ War Movies Ever. Great Reaction. Thanks For This!
Since you liked James Badge Dale in this you would love to watch the mini series The Pacific where he plays one of the main characters
Controversy or not on this whole movie and the Benghazi situation in general, seeing this movie in Dolby was geniunely the best war movie in theaters. The score hit hard and one of Bay's top 3 movies.
Jim and Roy moved beyond their differences and enlisted to fight bad guys
Sean Smith used to play in the game eve online and used to say he was “part of a secret ops mission abroad” no one believed him and then the community found out about his death in Benghazi the beacons lit up the galaxy in memory of Sean RIP Vile Rat (eve online gamertag)
One of my favorite war related movies so good but so sad and hard to watch! The fact that the arm scene was completely real gets me every time along with so much more from this one.
If yall liked James Badge Dale in this yall should watch The Pacific, 10 episodes WWII
Real life stories is one of my favorites movies, and this one is top notch. I got soooo sad when Tyronne died😭
Bob Lecky. Mans killed it in the pacific
At the end when that convoy showed up those were Muammar Gaddafi’s troops that came to save them
30:54 the punisher Tag is a thing, in the US military..my friend, who was Airborne had it tattooed in his back. His entire back
Great upload 🔥
Watch the documentary of this movie with the real guys! They even look similar....m bay made a good job to honour zhis guys!🎉
Thanks to you guys for deciding to watch this. I remember a few years ago there was a dismissive outlook of: "Its probably one of those 'Murica, f-ck yeah' movies, so we're gonna pass'." - So, I'm glad there was a reconsideration.
The acting in this movie was absolutely amazing ❤
NEVER NEVER NEVER CALL A MARINE AN EX MARINE ONCE A MARINE ALWAYS A MARINE THEY GET SUPER TOUCHY ON THAT ONE
Loving the movie selections and the reactor combos lately!
Oh snap, reaction to this one? Loved this movie ❤❤❤
James Badge Dale portrayed U.S. Marine Robert Leckie in HBO’s The Pacific.
Just so the understanding is there...we call helmets brain buckets for a reason...they are not bullet-proof. if you take a direct shot (depending on caliber) you're pretty much as good as dead, they are intended to help prevent traumatic injury from shrapnel. Catching angled ricochets is very lucky
They made the Jim and Pam joke but i don't think they realized Boone was Roy lol
Y’all can thank Hillary Clinton for this movie
I never understood the hate Michael Bay gets. I know his Transformers movies have a lot of problems, many of them his doing, but his human-centered action movies are always good, including this one. And this one is actually a true story. From what I understand, it's pretty accurate to what happened.
Some of us were definitely hoping that maybe this really signified a new maturity to Bay's films in the future, that he was finally going to show some uncharacteristic restraint moving forward ... and then his next film was Transformers The Last Knight ... yeah, that didn't last long ...
Yes yes yes yes yes been waiting years for yall to react to this! ❤🎉
Also the ambassador security detail was called back and all he had was those state department guys, and state department regulations are to keep weapons locked up 1 more reason this crap went all wrong
Alway love your guys' reactions. You guys should check out The Outpost, super underrated war film based on a true story w/ Caleb Landry Jones and Scott Eastwood
From what I remember, it was about 85%, true to the book that was written with Tig, Oz, & Tonto.
