    I have anti-gravity battery in my NB miata and and it has been great for the last 4 years. It's not the drop in version though. I am using the ATX-20 with Valkyrie Engineering's mount kit. It's been a life saver with the restart feature over the years! 😁

    My NA sits in a unheated garage in Upstate New York all winter will that kill this battery. I usually have it on a battery tender while it’s stored. I assume I can’t do that with this battery.

    Given you need a particular kind of charger from the wall to support LiFePO4 batteries, is there anything else needed in the cars charging circuit from the alternator to the battery to also charge it correctly while driving?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Nothing else needed. As long as you drive the car, your alternator will keep the batter charged as normal with no side effects to the battery.

    Can you tell me more about cold weather performance? I live on the Colorado Front range. Would you use one in a daily driver on the Western Slope?

    • @dil6969
      @dil6969 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They will still suffer in very cold temperatures. I know some LiFePO4 batteries cannot be charged at 32 F or lower. Project farm has tested lithium jump starters after sticking them in a freezer and most consistently lose more than 50% of their performance. The internal BMS will certainly prevent charging if it's too hot or cold, but I still wouldn't use one of these in a really cold climate.

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you park your car outside all the time, especially overnight in the winter, you might have some issues. For a garaged car that doesn't get left in the cold overnight or for extended periods of time, you probably wouldn't even notice. It's hard to give an exact definition of what will 100% be ok and what will potentially be an issue since everyone's usage, commute, temperatures and schedule might be different. Feel free to reach out to our customer support team with questions. We've got these in several cars that see varying degrees of use.

    What about the heat? I live in Phoenix and a 5 year battery we're lucky to get 3 years out of it. How does it hold up to heat?

    • @Eliiite7

      I was wondering the same thing. We also get super hot here in Vegas.

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These Lithium batteries should be less susceptible to damage from high temps than a traditional lead acid battery, plus the internal BMS should help protect the batter if it gets too hot.

      @@FlyinMiataVideo True, but protecting the battery when it's too hot means NO MORE BATTERY and the alternator gets DESTROYED!

    Good content as usual.
    Ya'll are using the wrong terminology though...a "lipo battery = lithium polymer", aka the lithium chemistry we are all familiar with which is designed as a pouch. (3.7v nominal)
    Lifepo4 as this video is about is not abbreviated lipo, as Lifepo4 batteries are a different chemistry, so they have 3.2v nominal. Yes Lifepo4 batteries can be in pouch form, but they are still not lipo batteries. Most batteries as described in the video are using 32600 cells.

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Antigravity batteries we sell are 20ah ( or 10ah for the tiny ND kits) which is roughly equivalent to a 40ah lead acid battery (20ah for the tiny ND). It's been more than enough for our use, but feel free to give us a call if you have specific questions. :)

    Do the stock battery vents get used?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Lithium battery doesn't have the off-gassing of a traditional lead-acid battery, so does not use the battery vents in NA/NB Miatas.

    PEOPLE WHO ARE "INTO" HIGH WATAGE CAR STEREO SYSTEMS WILL GET A 2ND BATTERY AND PUT IT INTO THEIR TRUNK OR MAYBE USE A CAPASITOR I THINK.- AND- A HIGH OUTPUT ALTERNATOR .
    AS FAR AS THE COLD GOES - GET A BATTERY WARMER (BLANKET).

      As long as the car is not sitting for long periods of time in sub-freezing temperatures, it will be fine. We're not very familiar with Virgina weather, so it would really depend on your area temps, car usage and storage.

    I own three Anti-Gravity in my motorcycles. Anti-Gravity's website states that their batteries are Lithium-Iron yet the battery in your video @1.10 states Lithium Ion. Now I'm rattled.

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about the motorcycle batteries, but the car batteries we sell are definitely Lithium Ion, and labeled that way on the front of the batteries and their website.

      @@FlyinMiataVideo Even the page you linked states that they use Lifepo4 (Lithium IRON) not Lithium ION. Why they label their batteries Lithium Ion is beyond comprehension and confusing.

    • @MastaSquidge
      @MastaSquidge ปีที่แล้ว

      @DarR1299
      "Lithium ion" refers to the overall group of various chemistries of lithium based cells. Of which lifepo4 is just one example. At the end of the day they're all lithium batteries.
      The significant difference of course is that the lifepo4 is much less prone to big arse fires.

    • @DarR1299
      @DarR1299 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MastaSquidge Lithium is fine. It's the word "Ion" that has a bad reputation. Antigravity is not doing themselves a favour by having that word on their batteries if they are using Lifepo4 (Lithium IRON).

    • @MastaSquidge
      @MastaSquidge ปีที่แล้ว

      @DarR1299 except that's not the case.
      "Lithium" itself is what scares people. Even when you explain what lifepo4 is they're still afraid of it.
      "Lithium iron" is still a lithium "ion" battery. Plain and simple.

    I appreciate the enthusiasm, but as with many things "claimed reliability" by a manufacturer and "real world" reliability are two different things. My previous experience with Antigravity batteries has not been good at all. I never got the product life out of it that they claimed. And at the end of the day Antigravity batteries are made in a communist country (I confirmed that with them after the reliability issues.), I'll forgo saving a few pounds of battery weight to avoid supporting communism, slave labor, organ harvesting, and the other things that government sanctions. The other Miata batteries I've purchased over the years are at least made in a democracy like the USA, Canada, or Mexico and none of them are flying spy balloons over us.
