- Part 2 of the Great Subscriber Request Arc. A good majority of those requests happen to be Sega Genesis games. Streets of Rage 3, or Bare Knuckle 3, has been a point of contention for some, and an under-appreciated gem to others. I think it's still a fine game. Certainly not the peak of the franchise, but a solid game to add to your Genesis collection.

Finally someone said it - SoR3 has the best combat out of 3.
Completely agree, it's much more fast paced and less sluggish. When i play SoR Remake i configure all the combat options to be like SoR3
Yeah I think most people universally shit on SOR3 because of the soundtrack. I think it's amazing, but still prefer 2 because it's the first Genesis game I bought on my own and played so much that I could go start to finish without dying.
That Futurama joke at the end earned you a sub 😂😂😂.
The attack sfx made the impacts feel weaker, BUT- the faster attacks and movements made the combat feel more intense and violent in my opinion. I played Bare Knuckle 3 since childhood (Japanese version).
I agree that 3 has the beat gameplay and fighting mechanics of the first 3, hands down.

The fact you put in effort to review this 30 year old game deserves at least a like. But it’s accurate - the best SOR is SOR Remake, where you can take the players/style of SOR3 but play normal SOR1/2 levels and enhanced music.
Your discussion about the sfx mak8ng the impacts weaker reminds me of how the animation in past Super Robo Wars games had weight instead of the wet pool noodle that is recent ones like SRW DD.

SOR is getting an official new entry, aswell as an new shinobi game and in really excited for both.
This video was also nice! I haven't tried out SOR 3 myself and only heard about its soundtrack so this made me quite interested in playing it.
Japanese is hands down the better version
JP is the best version to play SoR3 for sure
Sor remake is the quintessential game imo.
Sor 4 combat and juggling system along with art style and music doesn't feel like sor to me.

The thing that bothers me the most about the us version is that the beaten enemies don’t flash before they disappear. It’s jarring

Id love SOR3 if it weren't for the fact that the impact sound fx simply disappear mid combo most of the time. Very unsatisfying.
I'm shocked you don't know how to unlock Roo. You don't have to use a cheat code to get him. You have to beat The clown dude/ Roo's tamer and then Roo goes off the stage (as you have it shown in your video). Since you have done that he is now playable, no code needed

SOR3 is a nice looking game. It even plays well. It's just an awful SOUNDING game. 🤷♂️
