The bass is the greatest piece of art in the museum
It is a very pretty bass! My only question, besides the tone, if you're gonna have so many strings on a bass,... Why not just play guitar?
@8un3zz yes, I can explain it to you if need be.
@8un3zz The bass guitar, electric bass, or simply bass, is the lowest-pitched member of the guitar family. It is a plucked or slapped string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses.
If you need me to teach you anything else,... Like how to be a good person,... Let me know
@@markgrabowski5502 There’s lots of answers out there if you’re curious.
I'm not the best person,.. But I'm not a bad guy either.
Thank you for the offer!
I love the mellow sound, and am very impressed by the talent.
Thanks a lot!
I'm a Guitarist of 19 years. Never played bass but I appreciate it's beauty. In some ways I enjoy hearing and watching bass more than I do playing Guitar. Thanks
Both bass and performance are beautiful.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!
🍾🍾🍾
That was really beautiful. I love that Prelude on bass since Patitucci played it back in the 80´s. Great playing (it´s technically demanding) and great sound. Plus bass colors with amp/head. Congrats !!
Congrats, probably the best performance of this piece of music on bass guitar. You certainly deserve such a beautiful instrument.
So this is what happiness feels like
Greetings. I am teaching myself to play this on my Ibanez 7-string. Your video has helped me decipher a few key areas, especially phrasing mm 34-36 with those double-beamed 16ths emphasizing the a below middle c. Thanks so much for posting this!
So many of these types of bass videos bore me, but this was exceptional!
same here
Thank you for this presentation. I have listened to many play this work and in my view, this is perhaps the best one I have come across. Well done and best wishes.
Wonderfully explicit in its sublime simplicity. Fantastic.
Great, listened with bated breath, combined bass guitar and Bach.
Beautiful song, beautiful performance, beautiful bass
Perfect Heiko! Great playing and music! 30 years Marleaux Bass Guitars! ...the bass sounds fantastic, love the flat wounds
Very cool, as always!
Thx
A beautiful piece on a beautiful piece, very nice
with beautiful pieces around
Love the bass and the playing, very nice.
Amazing stretches and technique ! wow !
So well-done!!
You made the movement look effortless.
It absolutely ain't 🤣
Beautiful. Great.
Awesome... i like that contrabass
This is really beautiful and the bass is top shelf quality!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Harmony is next to Godliness”
― Johann Sebastian Bach
well played and what a cool looking bass
Superbly executed
Love that Hollow 33!!
Wonderful.
No words, wow this is just great.
I wish I could play like you...
How beautiful! I really enjoyed that. I also love the bass, the tone, the classic double bass shape is great, although I'd prefer the bottom mirroring the top & not have the modern shape there, but I can see this would make getting to the bottom part of the neck restricting.
You are great & inspiring.
Bless
Thanks a lot, - yes and it might be nearly impossible to balance the instrument and have a ergonomical shape...
@@heikojungbass as well as basically making it a 12 fret instrument lol - it would be literally impossible to reach the upper frets.
Very nice!
Thanks mate! - btw.: tight Pantera shreding
So awesome! My favorite bass channel!
Mine aswell - great sense of quality 😉
beautiful
Excellent performance!
Yeah! Beautiful interpretation, beautiful sound
Very much appreciated!
Exceptionally well performed!
Love it
Glorious
tHE TALENT IS ALWAYS RIGHT.................
That bass is amazing
Amazing. Thank you.
wonderful!
Thanks! Beautifull!
this goes hard
Woooowww the best bass player 🔥🔥🔥
🍾🍾🍾
Super Heiko!
Danke Ernst, schade dass wir zur Zeit nicht spielen können ...
That bass probably costs more than my car does
I looked them up and they look more expensive than they are.
hey, love that the channel catch some information about the tone up 3d bridge. there is almost nothing around.
beautiful...
Thanks a lot
Piel de gallina!!
Nicely done
Thank you, sir!
Beautiful 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Awesome👏👏👏👏🥁🥁🇨🇦🇨🇦
Measure 26 also has an incorrect note as well... the B directly after the C# in beat 3 should not be a Bb until the last 16th note of beat 3... This time Heiko plays it incorrectly by changing the B into Bb early…. A mistake repeated by many
A very talented family. Love Jung/Jung with your brother.
Glad you like it! Thanks a lot!
🔥🔥🎸
Tape wound strings? Sounds and looks like it. So smooth and ‘quiet’.
Perfect
Some kind of😉
❤ uff
What is the tuning on this? Standard B-C?
So beautiful. What kind of strings are those?
Wow now that's impressive (totally gonna rethink my fingering after this video hahaha)
Ps. Marleaux Basses are truly something of beauty
A breath of fresh air after aeons of slap.
;-)
🤣🤣🤣
I love this version the first one that is almost a tempi played….Jaco did not play with tempo but focused on playing straight through with no pause…much better than all the million other vids with the dreadful pauses which I doubt Bach would play for how can you dance to music that is not a tempi? Just my humble opinion…Cheers good one this!
Beautifully played! Have you ever tried it down an octave?
What strings are those? They soundsd amazing
Hae you played it like would be on a 4 string or have you taken advantage of the 6 string? Because I hear that at the beginning you let the root sustain while most player don't because it's hard to move the other fingers while playing the other high Notes.
Sehr schöne Bearbeitung ...
Danke Ralf!!!
Wow
I found a mistake in your transcribed solo… measure 11 beat one the 2nd “D” should be an “E”. As well as the last 16th of beat 3 of the same measure. I double checked it with the original Bach hand written version... I am hoping to not find more. I will post again if I do.
What I want to know is was it on purpose?
So I just listened to his solo and he plays it correctly so whoever did the transcription of his solo wrote it wrong.
Nice background
Almost every bass cover of Bach or classical music is unbearably dry and expressionless imo. But this was a total joy! Thanks for uploading.
Glad you like this one! 🙏
Anyone happen to know what tuning he's using?
Heiko, thank you for that beautiful performance! May I ask the make of the instrument you are playing?
th-cam.com/video/HhVrI20LCK8/w-d-xo.html
what's the tuning of the open strings? Nice!
Standard 6 String: low B to high C
Even Pattitucci in his version plays it in correctly at measure 26
上手ですね
I love the ContraBass.
#metoo
So Gary Sinise plays bass?
Thats why i bought a 6-string bass
Nemanja Matic, is that you?
What kind of bass ?
That’s a Marleaux Contra
Tutorial??????
When does a bass stop being a bass and become a guitar ? Sounds exactly like a classical guitar to me.
that’s why it’s the bass guitar
Thank-you for not...'over-reaching' with regards to artistic license and musically unsubstantiated rubato, such as is common, but musically unauthorized, amongst so many 'non' classically-trained musicians come to Bach's solo repertoire; which includes poorly trained cellist proposing more talent than they have. Many of the movements in these suites require that you just play the notes, because the melodic interplay is 'caused' by the fact that the last note of each phrase is more often than not the first note of the next phrase, so it makes no sense to phrase 'to' the last note, thereby detaching the first note of the next phrase from its own association with the rest of itself. Now, can you please do it on a four string, with no compression, using new steel round-wound strings to license excuse of my too often defect of play when I attempt to record these...nakedly, sans...anything! Great performance!
First
your technique is great, and I love the instrument, but... it is a little too fast 😅
He is very skilled at playing but this piece sounds better played on a cello and best of all played on classical guitar.
My apologies for being honest. I acknowledge the great talent of Heiko and the sound of his instrument. However, personally these classic adaptations to an instrument that lives and breezes groove, rythm, funk, soul, you name it, feels just inappropriate to me. Call me ignorant and I will approve. Cheers.
I just like to regard this as an addition to all the great and cool aspects of playing the bass you mentioned🍷
@Holger Hetschko, that instrument you mentioned can and is used for whatever the proponent wants to use it for, far beyond your limited scope of ‘inappropriateness’. Heiko is the perfect example of this!
Clean. But. Phrasing......
I didn't know Andy Serkis was so good at bass. Or maybe it's Elon Musk.
