Obviously he meant in the context of total money earned, and her net value gained while playing professionally. Very few female golfers had star status, but she did and she cashed in on it. Due to her fame, physical beauty, and endorsement deals... she made out very well for herself financially. I find it hard to believe that someone who was so passionate in their criticism of the commentary... would also be so incredibly shallow when considering context of the commentary. Nice
I wouldn't call this bad news. She's moving on. Between being hurt and her dad it's no wonder she burned out! She was fun to watch and she was and probably still is an incredible golfer. I wish her the best bc she seems like a nice person! Just a kid!
How is this bad news? I was never enamored over her looks, but did note her long legs and fluid swing that helped her have more distance than most on the LPGA. When media hypes a player and elevates them because of appearances and ratings rather than their golf savvy, you understand Michelle didn’t feel she was “Tiger” like. I’d say, Michelle has an extremely successful LIFE. With endorsements and business ventures, she’s crushing it financially. I’ve never liked the way the professional golfing tours FORCE (both males and females) to such a rigorous grind. They really could care less about the athletes, but enjoy those billions in revenue, at the cost of excellent golfers, who eventually crumble away under the burden of such a heavy schedule. I would like to see a LIV version for the ladies too. The golf is so much livelier, action packed, where the elite remain rested, and not forced to grind to remain relevant in a FEDEX Cup money generator. Just imagine, as a weekend golfer, I absolutely LOVE golf. I’m a lower handicap than most at 4, and I feel stressed when playing with my partner because I want to win. I can’t imagine pulling a 52 week or even a 30 week schedule, and having to place high enough to retain exemptions, which force me right back into the same grind. Add living out of a bus or hotel most of the year to isolate you from relationships except on the course, that very few can survive, especially financially, especially for those that remain exempt and keep their cars but are in the lower quarter of the money list. Sure, plenty of money but compared to the billions generated by grinding on the players to generate more, they make peanuts in comparison. God Bless those who sacrifice everything to follow their dreams and make the tour. God Help those who are being destroyed financially and mentally.
MW never got any better than when she was in 19 years old, like Geoff Ogilvie the US OPen fell in her lap. I'd love to see her settle down and raise that family.
Michelle knows what she’s doing and what she wants. And that’s none of our business. Leave her alone. Get on with your own lives. And let her get on with her’s.
90% potential, just above average results. History is littered with people in this category. No disrespect intended towards Michelle. Life is tough on child prodigies.
MW went on to pro golf way too fast. And too much was expected of her way too young. And some people actually thought she could beat men pros. MW is an example of mismanaging a career. Slower would have been better.
All of the freaking tape and pads and braces you would think she was a rugby player, did somebody explain to her it's a non-contact sport other than hitting a ball?
You can't say the word "retirement" without cutting off your sponsors. Come on.... wake up!!! And Michelle retire? Why bother. She hasn't placed in the top ten in a tournament in years. Just walk away.... no need for drama.... Hope she saved and invested some of that big sponsor $$$...
Michelle is by far the greatest athlete of all time. She challenged the men’s tour. She missed by one shot. Guts. She hit the ball a mile. Strength. She won the open. Talent. She had a baby. Commitment. I could go on and on.

Yes, often; and particularly with female prodigies. Because girls tend to reach physical maturity faster than boys, female athletes are often as good as they're ever going to be in their teens.
You lost me at Michelle Wie is "one of the most successful female golfer in history"!
A great prodigy!!
You're right; for context Birdie Kim won the US Open as well......
She had the potential, nothing more. You know what potential stands for? you haven't done sh*t so far.

@@seanwallace89 then that’s what he should have said 😂
I will love Michelle Wie always. ❤❤❤❤❤❤😘😘

What’s wrong with her dad
I represent Singapore for golf and there was a shortgame clinic where we saw michelle wie

She once considered marrying golfer Charlie Wi but didn’t want to be known as Michelle Wie Wi.😝
She was fun to watch. A shame she had tons of injuries, notably her wrist. I know she played most of her career hurt w/out any excuses.
Leadbetter did a great job of messing her up.

Wie is a “almost made it” player. Life moves on.
She was going to challenge guys...yeah...right

M.w. you rock.👏👍🥰
David Leadbetter snafu'd her golf swing so bad he should have been prosecuted.
Her father was the ultimate pushy parent. Talented, yes. She didn't have at least a normal childhood.
I was told her parents messed her up
Michelle Wee was never the lady Tiger Woods. She is just not motivated enough
not talented enough.
Why is this bad news? Lame.
So at Pebble she will again take another spot that could go to someone with more game.
MW went on to pro golf way too fast. And too much was expected of her way too young. And some people actually thought she could beat men pros. MW is an example of mismanaging a career. Slower would have been better.

Anyone wins open is a success!
so whats the bad news ?
Not covered about her injuries is that her wrist injury was a result if a car accident. (not her fault),
She'll be fine...
One of the most Successful female golfers? In what world?
That's like saying Ryan Leaf one of the most successful QB's.
Jesus Christ!!

Just drop it she never was and never will be just a cry baby when things didn't go her way.
Why are we even talking about her?
Michelle is by far the greatest athlete of all time. She challenged the men’s tour. She missed by one shot. Guts. She hit the ball a mile. Strength. She won the open. Talent. She had a baby. Commitment. I could go on and on.
Are you kidding. There are plenty of golfers who are better than her. She was pushed too fast too hard.
Mumbo-jumbo, mumbo-jumbo, mumbo-jumbo
Most overrated golfer ever! Never even came close to fulfilling her potential.
boring..
It’s weird that people haven’t figured out Sarina Williams is a man yet….
It's also sad that you are too dumb to spell her name right!....Serena
@@e.z.5275 smart enough to make you realize who I’m talking about though….you know it’s true….that all you got??
Only person who considered her tiger woods of ladies golf was herself
Actually lots of people including the media overhyped her. Sad, really.
What did she ALSO get a blood clot from THE JAB???
