I saw the emoji for this video and cracked up laughing! I think it is appropriate for what one experience is when you do that first cross country flight. I remember getting Flight falling for the first time, and it definitely felt like my head was gonna pop up. Keep after it, You got this!

Awesome video! I knocked out my cross country flights with my instructor the other week and just did my solo cross country to CHO this past weekend. Was an absolute blast and I'm sure you'll be just as excited. Was a great feeling!

    Great job!
I’m currently going for my PPL and I’m at 17.2hrs and loving every minute of it. I’ve completed my first solo on Friday the 17th of Jan. Which in Italy is considered as Friday the 13th here in the States. 😂
Can’t wait to get the XC portion and really do some flying. I’m still learning and have made some silly mistakes such as leaving the radio on ground when I should’ve switched to tower. I didn’t pick it up right away because ground had gone on break, so tower was monitoring both frequencies. Once he came back from break, he advised me that I was still on the ground frequency 😂 (rookie move)
It really shows how important it is to follow a check list, just like turning on the fuel pump before takeoff. I’m one that is always open constructive criticism, it’s a great way to grow and learn.
The maneuvers we learn are pounded into our heads through repetition, so they become automatic when needed. We are in such a task saturated environment that they need to be more muscle memory than having to concentrate specifically on those maneuvers.
Please don’t be dismissive on procedures and techniques such as your instructor has been displaying in this video. If you start with bad habits now, it’ll only get worse as time goes on. Everything you do in a plane is a big deal and never stupid. Remember the rules in aviation have been written in blood and are there for a reason. Nobody wants to be another NTSB statistic or end up on a pilot debrief.
Hope you don’t take what I’ve said the wrong way. Looking out for another fellow pilot, maybe we’ll be able to cross paths one day.

@@Flyboy82 I love it. I agree, my instructor is really young; however, I think what he wants is a revision of what we learn. I believe we need it all. Pattern work is important understanding the mechanics of flight is the reason we train the way we do. I agree with him in that more cross country is needed. My school is based out of a non-towered airport and my communication skills is lacking when talking to ATC. I have completed the requirements but more time should be dedicated to that. More time should also be dedicated to planning routes and flying those routes. The fundamental should be incorporated into cross country flying.
Congratulations on soloing. I still need 8 hours of solo time 5 being solo cross country. I do my first solo cross tomorrow Jan 3. I am headed to the same place as in this video. Trust me I will be on those check list. My goal is to always make it home safe to my daughters. I’m a single father and I cannot mess around.
Keep watching more to come. I believe in criticism. There is so much experience online and I am trying to learn from everyone. This is a small community and we can all learn from each other. If you see me doing something in my video, please let me know. All feedback is welcome.
Keep up the good work on your training. I have hit my 40 hours but I still need 10 to complete my requirements.
