As someone who, at age 47 was suddenly and out of the blue, struck with chronic pain, I understand doing things before retirement. (Thankfully I had been blessed with many opportunities to travel for fun before age 47!) I adore their plan- so well laid out, and pray it works out, as they sure deserve it! I love out of the box thinkers! I’m hoping one of our five kiddos will buy a tiny house!
I love how you manage to have everything you need in this tiny house. I especially love the kitchen n the upstairs bedroom that’s actually on the floor and not on a loft which I personally don’t like. You, young lady, are really fortunate.

I live in Castle Rock Co. My youngest daughter and her family lived in Durango for 4 years before coming back down. This is a lovely mother who seems to want to help her daughter but expects her daughter to pay her back when she finds her job. So she’s not spoiling her daughter and giving her things on a SilverPlatter but helping her get a start and I think that shows a lot of love and teaching her daughter responsibility. They have created a lovely home. One of the prettiest I have seen. I am so much like her daughter I would expect to be able to walk in the loft with a full-size bathtub. LOL!

Right at the beginning Holly hit it on the nail - I mean we only use three or so rooms, and often even a smaller space inside. I always loved Frank Lloyd Wright's idea of windows letting in light and the outside becomes an extension of your interior space. When you for example have a tiny house you can multiply that space by many times by having large windows and skylights. I love what Holly did for her daughter with the assist of her brother. A big wow there and a tear too! Yes, the more I watch the THE stories the more we find that the tiny house movement is full of lovely people stories. By the way that tapestry is off the charts beautiful! Good design all over.
The tiny home is set in such a wonderful area of Durango. Every part of the house has a utilitarian aspect. But also the style is so tasteful, stylish, and quirky in the best way. Tilly has a wonderful and loving Mom who has ensured that she will have a great place to live. This combined effort by a brother and sister shows what can be accomplished on a reasonable budget. Congratulations on a very successful endeavor.

that's one of the nicest tiny houses i 've ever seen.I like that she has big wardrobes and a loft that you can stand up in.I hate most lofts because they are cramped and require you to crawl around on you're knees.The black accent areas are nice too.

I have watched a lot of Tiny Home videos and this one is more to my liking with standing up in bedroom/loft, larger bathroom, the layout is lovely. I wish the daughter well at Ft. Beautifull color scheme and decor, sticking to black, white and blue is a good decision. The tapestry on the ceiling and the shower curtain bring in a lot of character. Putting black in a tiny is really bold! As a small tiny it is very well designed! There's even a bathtub and a storage space!!
I hope that Tilley understands and appreciates what her mom and uncle have done for her. It sounds like much of mom’s retirement hinges on that Tilley follow through with the agreement to pay her mom back…a big risk. They created a beautiful home. I was just talking to my sister about how I plan on doing this for my kids as well when they grow up. We own our home and have enough acres to place at least 3 tiny homes in our backyard. Praise God for it all!

Tily reminds me of my favorite character from Incredibles, Violet. So sweet and beautiful. As for the AC open a window in the loft with a small fan pointing out to draw the cool air across, people forget without an out the ac cannot force more air into the small space. It will quickly be solved. Take the airfryer outside when you cook, prevent everything you own from amassing oil film.

2 yrs into college, the daughter was fed up with room mates and dorm/apartment living. Single bedroom apartments were outrageous... she was also working part time. We helped her buy a house thus applying rent toward house payment. There was actually very little difference. Then when she decided to get married and move, she paid us back but had the equity to put down on a newer house.... worked out great and we are all so thankful that we were able to help her...
That is one of the best tiny homes I’ve seen yet! I love all of the black inside and the layout and design features are great. For being built by someone who doesn’t usually build tiny homes, it’s beyond awesome!

May 2022 Ideally, every parent should watch this video. Their dog seems to understand every word! College dorms (and most apartments, etc.) don't allow dogs so this TOW is the perfect 'dorm.' In the future builds: maybe the bathtub could be back against the wall and the water heater somewhere else so that no has to hurt their knees. Maybe everything could be raised at least 12" in order to have under the floor storage. Instead of windows, you could have at least one marine full opening window on the ceiling of the loft and the option of a door on each wall. Security steel artwork (sunburst is popular) grating over the doors, with a screen door after that opens, and maybe a dutch door after that, for security purposes, that opens at both the top and bottom could help air circulate on the hottest days. You could also have at least two max fans on the ceiling instead of windows. That would be helpful on the road and when people have to park next to a road, or crowded parking lot. What kind of insulation did you use in the walls, floors, ceiling? This metal option is probably less heavy than wood (easier to move) and probably less vulnerable in a fire crises. Just in case: consider posting directions on the refrigerator about the importance of sliding out the air fryer, toaster before and after using it for meals because a guest might try to use it when everyone else is asleep. Maybe post a photo of it hanging out into the hallway because young adults are often drunk and not reading directions. Millions have dyslexia or can't read without their glasses on so a photo may be more helpful than written directions. If you live in Tennessee, see TOWS similar to this made out of recycled metal from a window company at Incredible Tiny Homes with Randy Jones. He lost everything in 2008 and his many friends helped him to 'bounce back.' Ideally, every college should have many RV parks similar to this nearby because every shelter is having problems finding good homes for all their pets. These TOWS could probably help save every shelter pet in the USA, Europe, etc.

Awesome mom. You daughter is so lucky and she appreciates what you have done. The transition from high school to college or just adult life isn't easy. Especially when they have no clue how to do things now a days. School used to teach that kind of stuff. how to budget a house hold, money etc. Now it's all about the tests and schools don't have all those extra classes any more. Even after school clubs and such are gone due to well budget cuts etc. Now she will get a small crash course with your help.she is lucky to to save money from a dorm. Those are expensive and for some just not safe. Tilly gets to be safe in her own home. That is one thing that all people should feel is safe in their own homes and you provided that for her.

I love the design of this tiny home so much. Literally the only thing I would change is maybe make it slightly bigger so I can fit a full stove and oven in there and even that's a stretch.
We wanted a 28 foot trailer but could not find one anywhere in the US that fit our time frame. My brother sat aside 60 days for the entire build and move(we did it in 40) but I agree I wish we could have found a longer trailer.

Love hearing about the High altitude windows prevent cracking, sweating and condensation. The dryer line in liv room and the combo wash dry and the 1200/larger heater ac. the bed couch. And the soft close drawers. Love the stand up loft, and that hidden storage. I also agree that tub is necessity lol

I have watched a lot of Tiny Home videos and this one is more to my liking with standing up in bedroom/loft, larger bathroom, the layout is lovely. I wish the daughter well at Ft. Lewis, living around and exploring Durango will be a ++. Tapestries are BEAUTIFUL, very talented!! Nature all around, absolutely the best >>GREAT Gift Mama~~

Beautifull color scheme and decor, sticking to black, white and blue is a good decision. The tapestry on the ceiling and the shower curtain bring in a lot of character. Putting black in a tiny is really bold! As a small tiny it is very well designed! There's even a bathtub and a storage space!!
I hope that Tilley understands and appreciates what her mom and uncle have done for her. It sounds like much of mom’s retirement hinges on that Tilley follow through with the agreement to pay her mom back…a big risk. They created a beautiful home. Not a big risk…. I can either live in it myself or rent it out. Fortunately I have a very responsible kid and am happy to help her while teaching budgeting and financial responsibility. 💙

I was just talking to my sister about how I plan on doing this for my kids as well when they grow up. We own our home and have enough acres to place at least 3 tiny homes in our backyard. Praise God for it all!

As for the AC open a window in the loft with a small fan pointing out to draw the cool air across, people forget without an out the ac cannot force more air into the small space. It will quickly be solved.
Take the airfryer outside when you cook, prevent everything you own from amassing oil film.
This mother is amazing. I love what she did to ensure her daughter always has home. Also, she is absolutely right saying to do things now rather than later. I wish I had done that, but now my health issues will not allow me. Best Wishes to both of them. The tiny home is awesome.

2 yrs into college, the daughter was fed up with room mates and dorm/apartment living. Single bedroom apartments were outrageous... she was also working part time. We helped her buy a house thus applying rent toward house payment. There was actually very little difference. Then when she decided to get married and move, she paid us back but had the equity to put down on a newer house.... worked out great and we are all so thankful that we were able to help her...
That is one of the best tiny homes I’ve seen yet! I love all of the black inside and the layout and design features are great. For being built by someone who doesn’t usually build tiny homes, it’s beyond awesome!

May 2022 Ideally, every parent should watch this video. Their dog seems to understand every word! College dorms (and most apartments, etc.) don't allow dogs so this TOW is the perfect 'dorm.' In the future builds: maybe the bathtub could be back against the wall and the water heater somewhere else so that no has to hurt their knees. Maybe everything could be raised at least 12" in order to have under the floor storage. Instead of windows, you could have at least one marine full opening window on the ceiling of the loft and the option of a door on each wall. Security steel artwork (sunburst is popular) grating over the doors, with a screen door after that opens, and maybe a dutch door after that, for security purposes, that opens at both the top and bottom could help air circulate on the hottest days. You could also have at least two max fans on the ceiling instead of windows. That would be helpful on the road and when people have to park next to a road, or crowded parking lot. What kind of insulation did you use in the walls, floors, ceiling? This metal option is probably less heavy than wood (easier to move) and probably less vulnerable in a fire crises. Just in case: consider posting directions on the refrigerator about the importance of sliding out the air fryer, toaster before and after using it for meals because a guest might try to use it when everyone else is asleep. Maybe post a photo of it hanging out into the hallway because young adults are often drunk and not reading directions. Millions have dyslexia or can't read without their glasses on so a photo may be more helpful than written directions. If you live in Tennessee, see TOWS similar to this made out of recycled metal from a window company at Incredible Tiny Homes with Randy Jones. He lost everything in 2008 and his many friends helped him to 'bounce back.' Ideally, every college should have many RV parks similar to this nearby because every shelter is having problems finding good homes for all their pets. These TOWS could probably help save every shelter pet in the USA, Europe, etc.

Yes you have the right idea! Don't wait to retire later, retire now asap if you can because is not promised and like you said when you're old it's not the same, when you're old, you won't be able to do it and enjoy it like you can now...you live once so live it up NOW!

Awesome mom. You daughter is so lucky and she appreciates what you have done. The transition from high school to college or just adult life isn't easy. Especially when they have no clue how to do things now a days. School used to teach that kind of stuff. how to budget a house hold, money etc. Now it's all about the tests and schools don't have all those extra classes any more. Even after school clubs and such are gone due to well budget cuts etc. Now she will get a small crash course with your help.she is lucky to to save money from a dorm. Those are expensive and for some just not safe. Tilly gets to be safe in her own home. That is one thing that all people should feel is safe in their own homes and you provided that for her.

I love the design of this tiny home so much. Literally the only thing I would change is maybe make it slightly bigger so I can fit a full stove and oven in there and even that's a stretch.
We wanted a 28 foot trailer but could not find one anywhere in the US that fit our time frame. My brother sat aside 60 days for the entire build and move(we did it in 40) but I agree I wish we could have found a longer trailer.

The dryer line in liv room and the combo wash dry and the 1200/larger heater ac. the bed couch. And the soft close drawers. Love the stand up loft, and that hidden storage. I also agree that tub is necessity lol
