I'm very curious to see Shivam's perspective on going to class when he starts to attend university after going through the training on his own first. What is the purpose of University if you can learn on your own, and does that purpose justify the expense (fiscal cost as well at time cost).

Hi, Scott, I am a soon to be freshman in high school and am just fascinated by your challenge. I am just not understanding how you did it as for the testing of your accumulated knowledge. did you go take the test somewhere or was the test available online? I am also curious on how you constructed your course outline. I admire your work very much nad would like to embark my own quest for knowledge as soon as I get past these two obstacles. Thank you very much!

Hi Scott, I've quite liked your MIT challenge and I was wondering how do you find the courses in MIT?

Well done, Shivam! Great work. I'm sure you get to an amazing university.)

***** in his blog he mentions that he wants to get to a good uni, like MIT, so...
You're missing the point of my comment.

***** True, college/uni is not for everyone. And it does slow down learning tremendously.

    Hey Scott ,
Love these follow up videos I the challenge.
I'm taking a different approach but am very inspired by what you did.
I'm starting a MSc in computer science in 12 months but haven't really studied computer science before. My background is in accounting and up to linear algebra in math. I'm going to identify the most relevant classes to give me a base understanding and also relevant math so I have that foundation before I start the MSc.
    Any suggestions?

    • @ABigDoggy

Thanks Ivan, I actually have been doing exactly what you suggested for the last 6 months! I've used MIT's open course-ware mainly, but always find myself reading something about python or machine learning while im at work... If there's one thing I'm learning, it's that going beyond the text and using as many resources as possible has been my most successful new method for understanding the bigger concepts more deeply (more perspectives are great). im trying to move away from accounting, at least for now. im looking for something cooler ;)

nah, I also use learn python the hard way, how to think like a computer scientist, and harvard's CS50 on youtube :) lots of wikipedia as well as stack exchange and now I'm using Reddit too

I think it's really fully foolish to do an mit course without recitations and peers to discuss the problems with .
