We used to grow peanuts at my Migori village just for eating. Now I know in a good governance we would have been rich then. My village had many sugarcane farms and tractors would come for harvesting when Sony sugar was running healthy. Today my village has no sugarcane farms. It is sad how African leaders are so inhuman and lack love for their countries.

Self governance
In the desire to raise tax revenue from an overburdened taxpayer (corporate and individuals) and ruled by sheer greed, this government is harming the economy. There are no incentives for businesses in Kenya. Forget about the good speeches in workshops and conferences.
Why can't we manufacture our own cooking oil?
Why don't these manufacturers encourage our farmers to grow sunflowers instead of importing palm from Asian countries?
I am T.I.R.E.D in 42 minutes i've understood what Mr. Anthony is talking about and the steps that his team has taken to guide policymakes on right decision making. But alas POLICYMAKING IS A POLITICAL NOT ECONOMIC PROCESS.
You can see why prices of goods are going up. Why construction costs are now at 40% and why you should expect cooking oil prices and other goods that depend on crude palm oil to increase due to failure of kina Ndii to listen to experts in the field. Shameful!

if the cost of importing cooking oil raw material the crude palm has been increased,I don't see the problem ,because if I remember correctly ,the gov't has plans to make lake region,coastal area be the sole producer of palm oil ,its going to be hard on that but I believe in say 4-5 years ,most people in those region will have work to do

I'll help our guy Anthony on why Kenya isn't a manufacturing economy, it's because we have a parasite political class that lives off renterism rather than production.
Policymakers in the political arena refuse to take the advice because this will hinder them or their supervisors the chance to loot. We do politics in Kenya 24/7. The hustlers will never get jobs in their country! Their work is to vote foolishly and stay whining the next 5 years.
