I just saw this unit. Once I saw it in green I had to see what it is capable of. Now, well now I have to buy one. I both love and hate this hobby. Great work!
Thanks for such a comprehensive and informative video. This tiny rig encapsulates every thing that has fed my enthusiasm for "ham radio" over the past 59 years - an enjoyable learning curve provided by other enthusiasts keen to share their expertise, the ability to experiment and best of all, amazing performance for minimal outlay. This tiny "box of matches" provides more satisfaction than all the "big brothers" in my shack. QSO's far and wide in CW and SSB including China from the UK!! Simply superb. Thanks and 73, Roger G3SNT
Manuel, thanks for this amazing rig. It has enabled me to create an ultra portable station that can fit in my EDC Bag. Now no excuse for impromptu SOTA/POTA activations, or for any unplanned operation while exercising on the bike or going outdoors. We'll done! 73 de Luis, HB9HJU
Love your channel! I just received the (tr)uSDX and am putting together my power pack, antenna etc. Is there a .pdf or similar file that has instructions? I found your site with the sheet that has which buttons do what, but a .pdf that we could print out showing each function and the recommended settings would be amazing. Keep up the great videos! Can't wait till all my stuff arrives so I can head out and have fun....with beer!
As this video is 2 years old, is the information about the alternative band modules around 26:00 minutes still accurate? What band module is shipped by default in mid August 2024?
My guess is that the "gate" refers to what is usually called "Nose gate" which is like setting the vox threshold level so that between speach elements an alc does not amplify the pin drop minor background noises that you don't want to transmit. Only when there is a high enough level of input does the sound become allowed and then what ever processing/compression/alc that is set becomes implemented.
Why did they use a tiny connector for the 12 volt input that nothing fits instead of a normal size one? Also my radio is ver. 2.00x and all the control buttons seem flaky and do odd things a lot of the time. Is there an update to make it more stable?
Hi Manuel. You two guys have created a great thing. I have built two now, one unfortunately blew up due to my error but am getting some parts to repair it. Silly mistake. My second one now works great. Good long rang contacts here in VK. I have a question re the Tx audio. My reports back were some noise and crackling.? I have feed Tx into my FT991A and it does appear to have some digital noise. Is this normal or can it be cleaned up. Not sure how clean the audio should be via the ADCs on the Atmeg. Audio sensitivity is good just a bit noisy. Do you have any suggestions for me. I am a very technical guy and do this for a living however I’m a hard ware man not software. But a dam great little radio. Regards. Richard VK2VD.
That Noise comes usually from a loose Antenna Connector. I´d try to re-solder the SMA Socket and use an SMA Connector for your Antenna (no BNC Adapter) to see if it gets better. Because SMA is screwed on and prevents movement. Other Idea would be to change microphone. They are sensitive to damage if soldered too long.
What can i do, If the CW loop doesn‘t work anymore? I burnt the Transistor because the loop started to transmit without antenna. Now i changed the transistor. But CW loop message doesn’t work anymore. Could it help to reflash the Firmware? I removed the powercable to stop transmiting.

Very nice overview. One question on the keyer: I see straight and Iambic. Is there a way to use a single-paddle key, like a Vibrokeyer, or only twin-paddles or a straight key?
I´m not sure, to be honest. Never used one before. But I assume it has also 2 contacts (one for dah and one for dit) ? So it should still work with IAMBIC Keyer, exept, that you can´t use squeeze techique. 73 Manuel; DL2MAN
