I was watching this and thinking, "This guy looks familiar." I looked him up and yeah, I've read some of his books, and he's a crackpot. His degree is in journalism and he's a publicist, not an archaeologist. He does his own digs without proper permissions from the Israeli government OR a real archaeologist as an overseer so all of his findings have to be thrown out. He tried to open his own museum for his findings in Talpiot but it closed due to lack of interest. He is the laughingstock of the Israeli archaeological community. Also: Herod ordering the death of male babies was not a real historical thing.
Just curious where you got the information about the death of the male babies being farce?
@@hopelessromantic8682 Where did you get the information of the death of male babies being real? The Gospels are the only source material for it. If it had been a Roman policy, trust me, that would have made the news. And we have TONS of historical documents preserved from that time, both Jewish and Roman. The "death of male babies" trope is copied from the earlier Moses story, which we don't have any proof of either, but predates it in documents we still have by about 500 years.

Hmmmm. Not loving this guy. I feel like he’s more interested in creating some type of media “persona” for himself than he is in teaching actual history. To me, the only smart person in this video is the guy who reminded him that a king from the first century AD shouldn’t be judged by the same standards as today. It was a ruthless time to be in power - anyplace! And didn’t the dictator Sulla, and Herod’s grandson, Agrippa the Great, die under similarly described circumstances?
Herod the Great died from swine Trichinosis worms that invaded his body, organs, and crotch. Herod's true ancestry is a massive genealogy of the ancient Alexandrian Greek (and Persian, Medo-Persian) royalty. Herod would be considered the Solomon of his day, and the super richest and most political man of the Mideast. Herod (with Egyptian Ptolemaic royal blood) was a distant relative to Egyptian Pharaoh-Queen Cleopatra. There is so much more to the whole biography of Herod that has never before been published.

This guy is the Neil Breen of archaeology. Not quite as crazy as Breen, but definitely the same sort of confounding strangeness. The narrative has some logic, and shows genuine interest in history, but the presentation is rather uninteresting and mundane.

Your life matters, the message of the Bible is that Jesus Christ, the son of God was willingly punished for the evilness of humanity. He loved you so much that He was willing to die a horrible, brutal death. He was punished instead of us. But the only way to actually be forgiven and make His sacrifice effective in your life, is by believing in Him and trusting that His sacrifice was for you. Do so, and you will have eternal life.
