The True Story Of David & Goliath | Naked Archaeologist

  • The Bible paints a picture of King David as a mighty hero - capable of slaying giants, conquering enemies, and starting the messianic line that leads to Jesus. But for decades archaeologists have been struggling to find evidence of David's mighty kingdom. Now the archaeological remains of three sets of gates in three ancient cities might just hold the key to verifying David's story.

Hey guys here is a nugget that these so called "archeologists" have NOT considered: David was not an Egyptian, neither a Babylonian which boasted with their "great monuments" so I do not comprehend how these people discredit The Bible based on their limited and selfish understanding of things. David did not create these "great pyramids", but he based the beauty of his Kingdom based on one single relic, The Ark of The Covenant. While these bunch of ignorant assume "greatness" based on huge statutes... David based it on humbleness, HE DID NOT need immense buildings to be great, neither he looked to impress any man, but God alone. The guy was a HUMBLE man, so what to the Archeologists may represent "greatness", it may not be necessarily what David viewed as such.. In few words, these "archeologists" are trying to find monuments of a Dynasty based on what THEY think should be, but not based on what David thought of it.

I think he’s basing his assumptions about David’s career more on pop culture, and less on the Biblical text.
David was important because of the significance of what he did politically, and because of his significance in the messianic genealogy. Not because he created a city to rival New York.

Imagine if you were getting ready to rock with Goliath and he said "come to me boy, so I can feed your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field". I know I would be 2nd guessing my moves. This dudes talking about feeding my flesh to the birds man. I don't know how I feel about that. Turns out, David is just as wild. He wants to feed the entire camp of the Philistines to the birds and beasts. Then said the Lord is about to deliver Goliath into his hand. And Goliath is gonna get smited. Nothing like getting smited man. He fuckin smote his ruin. Thats some old other shit!! Man I've had my ruin smote once or twice. It's no good.

That no nation can lay claim to being blessed not Jews, Christians, or Muslims, only those who Our Creator's blesses.

I think where a lot of the confusion of the Empire is we are comparing size of a 1000 BC entities to what empires became 1000 - 2000 years later. To me they seem to say well this empire wasn't as big as Egypt or other forces at the time so there was no empire. Maybe it was just size of a Kingdom. That is still a significant achievement for the time.

The doctor said it’s not going good during the delivery but mom made it with God’s Grace and mom said she felt God’s Spirit speaking to her and say DAVID name him DAVID. I was named DAVID and dad wanted a ROY! but my name is DAVID and I have a special relationship with God. Mom was right God is still choosing people today to serve Him. I started playing guitar at 56 years of age and I was practicing about a year ago and I got a song from God and it’s good to good to come from my musical heart. The song is a beautiful song and it sounds like a cry for mercy. Mom hears me play it and she cry’s tears of joy because she knows I’m DAVID and God is my friend.

David may have been a military chief rather than a true king, but over time the word has evolved to mean a true king. Also, the details of the biblical accounts would suggest that David and Solomon were vassal rulers of Hiram the king of Tyre which means that their province of Israel may not have been as large as traditionally imagined and not all the war locations to attached into part of their province.

The only thing that’s been proven is that there were a people in ancient times, that they were semi-nomadic, they encountered a people in Sinai, the Shasu, who worshiped YHW, and they borrowed that tradition to create their own origin story and unifying mythology. YHWH was born in Canaan, the people worshiped YHWH, in addition to their old gods, until the Babylonians invaded and sacked Jerusalem (at that point, the idols and “false gods” were banned because Israel believed they had been the reason for Babylon’s conquest). There is evidence that David really did exist, and that he and Solomon were the earliest biblical figures with some degree of historicity. There is zero evidence that any biblical figures or stories prior to David actually existed or happened. It was a set of myths and stories designed to bring structure and morality to a newly-growing population of distinct people who would come to know themselves as the Israelites.
