By far, this was the BEST and most COMPREHENSIVE video on a BMW latch I've have found on YT. I'm having issues with my latch too, but it's not the alignment. Thanks so much for your video. I replaced the spring on my broken 1999 BMW 540i trunk latch but the latch wouldn't lock. I removed the small cover to the trunk latch itself and saw it had moved. Following your suggestion, I loosened the two torx screws, moved the bottom latch up a bit to its original position and voila this worked. I never would have thought about realigning the bottom latch without your video, especially since I had a broken spring in the trunk latch itself.

Did it also have problems opening or just not shutting?? Mine would not shut untill I really slammed down hard.. now the door won't open won't release when I hit the pop button inside or on remote..

Fuse #40 was a temporary fix for me i just took it out and was able to close. Was a split wire for me
