For those who have a tight budget, the space left by less plants can easily filled with inexpensive all summer blooming annuals for a few years. By then, the perenials will be large enough to divide, and voila 🥰! Thanks Heidi, great presentation!
You are exactly right! I tend to recommend the lighter amount of plants that way it does leave room for others. At least these ideas can start you with some structure.
Heidi - terrific video! I especially liked how you combined the watercolor rendering with real photos and then followed with the planting layout. This is so helpful in creating a new bed. I watch a fair number of gardening videos and haven’t found many with this type of approach - great job! THANK YOU 😊
Lots of great information for deer and water. Am replacing some deer loving plants, and you have done a great job of giving colorful and effective ideas. Love the bleeding heart for the sun. Have ordered very successfully from you before. Thanks so much.
Hi Heidi, love the summeriffect, I have to check the label to see if that is the one, I have, its beautiful magenta dinner plate size, love it... Love the red hot poker, I planted a bulb last fall. They are all beautiful!!! Have a great week.
Hi Heidi, thank you for taking the time to create this very informative video. I’m in zone 8b (North Texas) and we have the dreaded clay soil, ughhh, and it’s been difficult keeping shrubs and plants alive in the clay soil along with 3 digit heat extremes for most of the summer. I used to live in Muskegon, Mi., which was such a dream location for my plants. Enjoy watching all of your videos!
You are amazing! We moved over the summer so I didn't have time to do a garden but this year, I can't wait! Thank you so much for all the wonderful ideas and help that you give. Wishing you a wonderful and blessed gardening season.
Thank you so much for this video! It will certainly come in handy for me as I plan new garden areas. I garden in zone 8b and have clay soil, so I appreciate the inclusion of guidance for plants that will do well in my soil type. Thanks again! Happy gardening!
Love these ideas! Great video! Wondering if you have suggestions for shallow borders around a pool that doesn’t produce a lot of debris or maybe these designs would work for that too?
Thanks so much!! The biggest problem I have as a new gardener is placement and pairing. I'm finding out that it's so important! I've got to come visit your beautiful nursery. What is your opening date this year?
Fantastic ideas as always ❤ I love perennials & excited for my garden in its 3rd year(zone6, I believe) Toronto, Canada🇨🇦. I Bought Proven Winners Garden Book that has helped me with wonderful ideas.
I have been leery of panicum grasses since I read their roots often go down 10 feet. Have you ever tried to dig ant]y of them out after several years? Are the roots manageable?
Great ideas Heidi. I have lots of deer and clay!!!! I am replacing my plants the deer love and putting them in my fenced vege garden. I like your ideas. I am planning on ordering from you and wonder if I can pick up my order instead of having it shipped? I can hardly wait for summer to arrive.....I have spring fever.
Hi Heidi, I'm in zone 6b Missouri. I recently purchased 7 drift roses, I just received them today (2-7-24). When is the best time to plant them? They will be in my front yard, front boarder
Oh boy, it sounds like the shipper may have sent them at not a good time to plant if you are in zone 6b. Without knowing your state I am going to take a guess that you could possible plant the end of March.
Hi Heidi, thank you for all these wonderful recommendations! What would you suggest would be a great pairing to a supertunia vista bubblegum plant, zone 9b? 😊
@gardencrossings one will be in the ground and one in a pot. Thank you so much in advance for any suggestions. Have a great day! I’m from Lansing, Michigan. But now live in Houston, TX😊

Oh wow, yes I bet the gardening is drastically different in TX than in West Mi. But I am sure you can play a bit more with tropical selections

Many of these should be able to work in that type of location.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful information. I have a question. When you say Full Sun does this pertain to the Texas Sun? ☺️ N Dallas,Texas.
It maybe a bit variety dependent.
