  • I DIY a cable machine within $35! This cable pulley system has 2 general modes, overhead and low row cable positions. You can perform numerous exercise with this system such as lat pulldown, low row, wood chop, glute kickback, chest fly, and so many more!
I'll show you how to build it from scratch in this video. All you need is some heavyweights and a pull-bar or a power cage, and you can get the rest of the parts from Home Depot within $35.

I recommend using rope instead of steel cable. You can get 1/4 " rope rated for 1000lbs that has very little stretch. It will be lighter, more pliable, more portable, your loops at the end will be smaller because you can just use knots. I built a full cable crossover here in afghanistan with Type IV braided nylon 1000lb rated. We use it for parachute and sling load rigging.
Just don't use 550cord, it stretches way too much. I posted a crappy short video about it because people here keep asking...

Love how detailed and well put together your video is, I transitioned to home gym years ago and use a pulley system off my pull up bar, True game changer. I use The Isolator Cuff Edition to do my tricep push downs hooked to my wrists so avoid gripping tightly and I can engaged my triceps better, Also brings adjustable straps that are fully adjustable to mimic a Tricep Rope with two small carabiners to hook onto my wrists. Amazing the results Ive gotten on that alone. My gym in my living room feels like I built my own paradise and I dont miss the gym at all :)

I've been looking for months for a solution to do low pulley movements with a similar setup on my power rack with 2 pulleys on top. Never thought about using a barbell with plates to anchor the low pulley. I have been searching on Amazon for months trying to find a low pulley connector, only to find that Rogue has a connector for their racks that's an insane $200 that does the same thing as your bar in the video. Thank You and subscribed

Hi! I love the idea!! I will definitely be doing this! For the low pulley I was thinking of getting 2 pull up bars. 1 for top and 1 for bottom to replace having to use the barbell. And that way the bottom pulley stays attached to the bottom pull up bar, to reduce timing on setting it up. 😎😎😎 thank you!! 💪😎

I bought resistance bands, but i feared from when they tear up(to eyes) . Then i tried to build a vertical bar that attach to door(like adjustable bar and handle in cable machine)(just like a pullup bar that connect to the both sude of the door by screwing it, ill connect down side of bar to the door and upside of bar to pullup bar(with a "C" shape head) ) ,but instead of using weights, use resistance bands. But it became a bit complex to design and build.
After seeing your video, aha moment came on.
Now I'll keep vertical bar and cable, but instead of resistance bands, ill use free weights(like your) .
And for resistance bands, ill use fabric cover (4 times the length of resistance bands). And connect resistance bands to pin that are in vertical bar.
Im a bit bad in explaining things, but i hope i did it well.
    Thanks
