Im glad its actually being used and enjoyed instead of being stuck in a museum personally, although it would be perfect for somewhere like the british motor museum!👍
How fabulous to see the car preserved and well looked after. I'd only ever seen B&W photos before so am truly envious you got to see it in the flesh. How on earth did you stumble across that one?! Pity the poor Rover P8 prototype wasn't preserved as this one was...
Great look around, Alex! Thanks very much to you and the owner. I read once about a P6 based coupe prototype, but I didn't know there were two versions.
Lovely looking car. I owned 4 P6 models at different times. 2000TC was my very first car after I passed my test in 1974. I wonder if it could have been possible to make that a full length hatch back,
Very, very pretty! I’m sure this would have given the Alfa Romeo GTV, Lancia 2000 HF and possibly even the FIAT Dino coupe a run for its money, had it been launched.
That looks like a 60s Maserati or Lamborghini... glorious looking machine! What a shame it never made it beyond this prototype! Pretty confident it would have sold well! Thanks for the video on this, I'm ashamed to say that as someone who's fond of his Rovers I've never heard of this car before!
Lovely car Alex. I can see that it was well designed and built even though it was a prototype. I love the exterior door handles and the dashboard. Shame they hadn't dropped the V8 into it, but perhaps there wasn't enough room and it may have been a bit too lively?
Hi Alex, What a great looking car for it's time, I never knew it existed. I expect that if it had gone into full production the rough edges would have been ironed out. Many thanks.
@@Alexsassets Definitely some HIF variant as no visible float chambers on the sides! Oh the fun of having to take the bloody carb off just to check the float height!
Really interesting and great in depth look at such a promising car. With a few changes, eg full hatch that would have been a marvellous Coupe, with a V8 it would have been a tarmac shredder
Rarely do I see a car that I never seen before, even in a book. This however this is the king of the unicorns isn’t it? That opening rear hatch ventilation is fascinating, thanks for sharing Alex!
What a quirky car. The carbs look like they are SU HIF type. So probably not original they only came out early 1980s. Interesting car though. Thanks for sharing it.
Hi Alex, Well, who knew? This car must have been quite hush-hush when in design stage. Good looking car but not very practical, especially at the rear end. The fitted engine, as you say, is a straight 6 in line which may have been better fitted as a transverse one. The body style resembles that of the Sunbeam Rapier, another Italian style influenced car. Excellent video as usual Alex, always a pleasure to watch and listen to you. Take care and 'bye for now...👍👏🙂 Jon B.
Certainly had potential to not only precede the Alfaetta GT / GTV by a number of years had it received a full hatch, but also arguably be a much better alternative to the infamous Triumph Stag that unlike the latter was designed to accept the Rover V8. A V6 would have completed the range had Rover been in a position to accept GM's offer to have a licence to build the Buick V6 alongside the Rover V8, even if the 90-degree V6 need a redesign beforehand. If the Rover badge by itself was a barrier, maybe it could have been a Big Healey replacement as a Rover-Healey instead of a rebadged MGC?
One of the great anecdotes about the car was the link with 007. It was planned to shoot 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' in 1966-1967 in Switzerland. There had been talks between the producers and Rover about the TCZ being used in the film. However a warm Swiss winter and inadequate snow cover led to Saltzman and Broccoli postponing the film and shooting 'You Only Live Twice' instead, in Japan, with the similar looking Toyota 2000GT (with the roof cut off to accomodate the 6'2" Sean Connery) used instead. Great shame.
Lovely looking car, what a missed opportunity of which the British car industry was famous for.
Beautiful one-off. It has that unmistakable Zagato look of the era. It resembles the contemporary Lancia Fulvia Zagato.
Nice Rover! I'd heard about the TCZ many years ago, probably in George Oliver's 1971 book, THE ROVER.
Wow! Looks like something out of Thunderbirds.
What a gorgeous looking Rover Concept, never knew this existed at all.
That is certainly stunning!
A shame it never went into production.
A very clever design and a stylish coupe from Britain in the 60s.
Nice car so sad it never made production this Rover coupe very Italian styling
Fascinating car Alex, never heard of it before, I’m surprised it’s not in the collection at Gaydon or something.
Was owned and sold by Zagato. . .
Owned by the same man since the mid 80s i believe.
Im glad its actually being used and enjoyed instead of being stuck in a museum personally, although it would be perfect for somewhere like the british motor museum!👍
FIRST! CAN I HAVE A GO ALEX 🥺
NO 🤪
Wow, what a stunning car! I want one (but I can't)!!
Thanks for this upload, I didn't know about this Rover at all.
No one can have one 😭 there's only one 🤯
Wow! I have never seen one of those before or even heard of one! Its an amazing car, i wish they actually put it into production, it looks amazing!👍😄
What a beautiful car. A shame it never made it into production Alex. It must be worth a few quid.
Just a bit 😬🤪🥰

I was invited to see it 🥰 lucky x
Very very interesting video of this famous coupè, a Rover 2000TC + Zagato style. Bravissima, thank you!!!

I would definitely buy one 😍 . I loved my Mk 1 capri and I love my Rover 2000 P6 .. . This is a beautiful mash up in my eyes x
What a stunning vehicle, absolutely beautiful, both inside and out. Love your channel.
Thank you 🥰

I think* Rover were looking to produce a coupe version of the 2000 and the roverv V8 hadn't yet become a thing....
I think this actually predates the V8

Those are Dolomite Sprint HS6 carbs. Stunning car!!
I've been told by someone who knows the car, that they are modified HIF carbs x 🙂

Wonderful car
Wow fantasic car for it's age, It almost seems kit car form. Were they ever or concept only, anyway a lovely car.
Definitely not a kit car. 👍🏻 . A one off design that never got put into production.

The Fulvia Z had the same system

Cool 👍🏼
Lovely car. It shame they didn't built more of them.
OK, my friend, I want this car, how much is it?
...and it's on a Solihull plate too...
nice interieur

Thanks Jon.
It's a 4pot and it wasn't hushed actually. . . There is another prototype coupe called Gladys at the Gaydon motor museum 🥰
@@Alexsassets I think Gladys was the earmarked *Alvis* coupe concept derived from the P6...
@@danieleregoli812 yes it was going to be badged as an Alvis 👍🏻

Funny enough..... it was going to be one.... - let me copy and paste the info i have...

If the Wilks had still been running Rover at this time it would have got made. I destest British Leyland for every crap decision it made.
