two party system is quite better...we have that system right now (Philippines) and the downsides of it include struggling to get enough votes for legislative agenda.. if you are running in a small party it's not easy to have a majority or 2/3 of the house or senate.
In countries that aren't as divided as the US, having a certain party be in control doesn't necessarily mean that national agenda would grind to a halt. But since there are only two parties and both consider the other as enemies, this might mean nothing will get done. They'll be too busy fighting each other instead of doing the work they were put there to do. And this on top of the fact that American Congress was never the most efficient organization to begin with even under better circumstances.

Advancement requires analysis which requires time and effort, and when people are more interested in food, sports, liesure, being high, wearing designer clothing and driving expensives cars, etc..etc...then of course the system fails. Luckily, the designers of the US political system set it up to be in a state of limbo (or declining standars of living) until the people take the time to educate themselves enough. A president or top leader cannot so easily make an important decision without first finding agreement from enough of the other parties. It is all based on access to information, and unfortunately there has been a tendency to filter out information from one side or the other and thus making it more difficult for those that are actually interested in the issues rather than the parties.

The good thing is they already passed a lot of major legislation. Now they need to actually carry it through and deliver results. If they get everything done that’s in the infrastructure and inflation reduction bill that’s already a major step forward. With the republicans having such a thin majority they can’t really stop it. And with the senate the dems have control over the judicial system. I also think they will get some extra legislation to pass in the lame duck period. Maybe with 51 senators they can even find 9 republicans in the senate and enough house members to cap the price of insulin. So I don‘t think it’s that bad.

You waited till the last week of the election to bring up removing Social Security and Medicare. Why? What good is that information now to use?
