  • While the United States Air Force (USAF) has several defense-related strategic objectives, one of the organization's less combat-centered roles is providing secure transportation for the highest echelons of the US government. From colonels to cabinet officials to the President of the United States himself, the Air Force operates various VIP-configured transports. Let’s use today’s video to look at the various types of aircraft that take on this special role…

I was on an exchange with the National Guard in North Dakota and remember seeing two Learjets sitting in the hanger at the Army Aviation Centre in Bismark. I was told that they were for the personal use of the NG Commander and 2IC.

Incorrect the VC-25As have not been in service since 1987. The US Air Force had a rigorous testing program that began with first flight in 1987. They have been carrying the US President since August 1990. (Midway through President George HW Bush administration) In fact, President Reagan and his wife never flew on the VC-25A during his term , despite having direct influence on the design for the cabin interior.

C-32A (757-200) is the best! The C-32B is a whole different breed of bird for SOCOM

There is no good footage of them, because they are always in the workshop because they broke down.

On several occasions while planespotting at LAS, a gray US armed forces Fairchild Swearing Metroliner would touchdown. There were no obvious modifications to the craft. Just looks like the commercial version except it's gray. So, what is this?

Watched a vid of planes landing at Munich for the security conference few weeks ago. A few of these were there. Couple of the Gulfstreams I remember.

E-9s (Enlisted folks) also qualify for these VIP transports too (Usually the top enlisted person such as the Chief Master Sgt of the Air Force) I rode in the small lear as a passenger and in the 737 as a passenger.

4:47 and 5:30 is not a USAF C-40C like your discussing, but a US Marines C-40A of VMR-1. Oops.

The C-21 flew into Incirlik Air Base Turkey to shuttle VIPS's from C-21 to C-17 for further travel of VIP's into Afghanistan and Iraq during Gulf War 2. This made there VIP's travel much less noticeable

Somewhat wrong on the call sign. If POTUS is on a navy aircraft it’s Navy One, Maines is Marine One, Army would be Army One, and civilian would be Executive One. Replace One with Two for VPOTUS.
