He was Sporting's FOURTH manager that season, taking over one of our worst squads of the century, the fans would sing chants against the president every home game, the club was a mess... If you look at his first starting eleven at Sporting, and compare it with the team that won us the championship the following year, you will see that he only kept ONE player from that team, and we somehow won. You need something like that to happen as well, but trust me, he knows what he's doing.
I think malacia should be starting this one if we want to really rotate the squad, cause maz has had little rest time on the pitch, starting every single game in the last 6-7 games
I largely agree with this side, the exception is I would start Collyer. The boy has an engine, and starting him alongside Ugarte will hopefully put the Saints under pressure and give us the opportunity to gauge his technical level too. Ideally it could be the game where we realise he could be the Ugarte rotation option for when Manu needs a rest.
I think starting Collyer may be too early, We do need someone who can control/dictate the tempo and create from deep, which is what Eriksen is for. I think he should be brought on in the second half to inject some energy into the midfield, depending on what the scoreline calls for.

My concern is the talk Ugarte is getting a ban for the headbutt on Sunday - is it better to check if Collyer is ready to start when Ugarte is also available, or wait and then just have to hope either way?
Once we start playing with the same mentality as we did against Arsenal and Liverpool away, we’ll be back. Finally, after 12 years I can see the mentality shifting.
I would love to see Altay rewarded for a great performance against Arsenal. I reckon if he is fit Antony starts at one of the wing back positions. His tracking and tackling has always been decent. Hopefully Toby gets a start. Also put in a good shift against Arsenal and is well worth a reward

Our last outing against Southampton dalot did get rinsed by dibbling for a lot of that first half and parts of the 2nd, he is their best player so far this season and stopping him from playing will increase our chances a lot imo, mazroui should help that a lot being in lwb

I’d start with Malacia to take advantage of his crosses to Hojlund, as Southampton will likely set up a defensive block. In the second half, I would bring on Amad and Garnacho (I would drop Bruno deeper and rest Ugarte) to exploit the defenders' fatigue. I would rest Lisandro in the middle of the second half and move Mazraoui to center-back, with Amad as left wing-back. I would substitute Eriksen for Antony and Hojlund for Zirkzee to increase the pace and exploit quick transitions, as we would presumably be winning and focusing on counter-attacks. Rotate when you get to the game and see a player needs to be rotated. Play your strongest side. Last played Sunday. They should all be fine other than maguire. Nothing can be taken for granted. Play the best 11 possible and deal with brighton after. One game at a time.
I think Hojlund is better as a box player and Zirkzee is better in hold up play and transitionplay. Playing Southampton we'll be more in their box so Hojlund starts. Zirkzee will play against the stronger teams.
These last games we can't do any experiments, this is Premier League and those teams are fighting relegation so they are very aggressive. Let's put the same line up that brought us good results recently.
