As someone who can remember this era I really appreciate these uploads. There is something so soothing about the commercials of my childhood (which I'm sure I barely paid attention to at the time).
Wasn't quite born yet when these came out, I was born in July of 1983! I will be 37 this July, gosh I feel old indeed! Anyway, another batch of great adverts, 80sCommercialVault!
I know we had a Vic 20 computer back in the day, but I was so young, I never used it much. It was mostly for my brothers. I don't think they got much out of it, either. I was more interested in the Atari and Intellivision that we had hooked up to the TV,. I don't think I even thought much about computers until we got our first Internet-browsing computer back around 95 or so. Ah, AOL, it seemed so amazing. I'm sure the Vic 20 was good for its time but considering I was around five or six when we got one, it just could not compete in my eyes.
No Dynasty and The Fall Guy tonight..? Aww man :( Commodore 64-the green font..was expecting to see a message saying"Wake up,Neo..." Camay-"HAH-OV-VAHH!!" Wrangler-w/ Dale Arden herself,Melody Anderson Secret-they need a house with a bigger bathroom BMW-umm its called a hood ornament Ziploc-wouldnt trust him with kitchen knives let alone plastic bags Calvin Klein-Shari should already be rich seeing as she's Harry Belafonte's daughter.. The Thorn Birds -"No more kissing in the promos, please!!!" Matt Houston-last rites..? looks like there will be a replacement Captain soon :( Ryan's Four-"YOU'VE GOT A HUSBAND!!" shouldve also told her"If you don't like the fact that i help save lives, well then get the papers so i can sign them!"
If it was at 1, a ring inside would squeeze the opening more, therefore you couldn't pull as much product out of the top of the container. At 10 it was open more, leaving a lot more on the brush.
I’m questioning if I’m mispronouncing the abbreviation for “Individual Retirement Accounts.” I’ve always said (and heard it called in real life) “I-R-As.” However, they’ve been called “Iras” here in several 80s commercial volumes. Also, every time I hear Roger Miller’s voice, I instantly think of Allan-a-Dale from Disney’s Robin Hood. Probably because that character was such a significant part of my formative years.
The U.S. was recovering from a recession in 81-82 and high interest rates were everywhere. The average APR before car companies rolled out these lower rates in late ‘82 was 17.6%. Keep in mind that the average price of a new car in 1983 was under $10,000...much cheaper than the average price of a new car today when adjusted for inflation.
Hi, sorry to bother but at 0:16 of the video theres a girl standing at the entrance of a big garden. You know where is it from? I mean is that a movie? It got my attention for some reason. Btw i love all your videos, you don't know it but you've given so many people the closest thing to a time machine. Thank you so much!
The Thorn Birds: a 3-part miniseries from 1983 where a 1920's Australian Outback Catholic priest falls in love with the daughter of a giant sheep station. (Wikipedia)

I am a huge fan of that ABC Closed Caption graphic and it's nice to see it here again!

My dad's excuse for buying a Commodore 64 was to benefit me and my sister's education. We weren't allowed to touch the damned thing. Lol
I've always liked the music used in computer commercials and the Renault commercial here, very retro-futuristic nowadays.
The fact that these will be 40 years old this decade makes me depressed.
The late, great, legendary Jack Klugman. Loved him in TV, and his role in ""Twelve Angry Men" from 1957.
Man I miss my 80s.

@TTrigg Dynasty was the best.
Note to self, buy a pair of Wrangler jeans and a Stetson ;)
How did that Maybelline Dial-a-lash work?

Karen O'Byrne - I wish they still sold them. I get to much product and I always have to wipe some off.

Yep, I've always pronounced I-R-As the same way as you, and it sounds weird to hear them called "Iras".
I can’t believe the interest rate was so high to finance a car 11.9% 😱

80sCommercialVault - I didn’t know that. Thank you for the information.

... It's from "The Thorn Birds", the miniseries that these were recorded from: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thorn_Birds_(miniseries)
Does Secret still use, “Strong enough for a Man but made for a woman”, slogan?
Heck no! "All Strength, No Sweat" is the current tagline.
Man i was a kid but remember alot of the content . Wish car prices were still like they were back then lol .
And minimum wage was $4.00 an hour then too.
The only boxed food I like and am willing to eat is stovetop stuffing.

Terrible hair (except for the Sharon Stone) and terrible mustangs.
I love the hair then but my step brother had the 1980 version of the Mustang and it rusted so quick that we joked and called it "The Rustang."
