      What is a good "family streamer"? Where I can play Tidal, My GF can play Tidal, Spotify, Soundcloud and someone can also connect to Bluetooth WITHOUT everyone understanding a million settings. And if one phone is connected I would like NOT to first disconnect one phone, laptop etc, before the next can connect. Bug free, please. This is a constant frustration.

    While on the subject of Crutchfield I’ve been a customer off and on since the 1980’s. It’s not because of their pricing. They are no less expensive or more expensive than any other retailer. But their customer service is absolutely the best. Absolutely, and that is why I always shop there first.

    People mentioning that the screen is superfluous if you have a phone or tablet are 100% right. People who are happy this has a screen so they don't have to pick up their phone or tablet because listening to music is a time to disconnect are also 100% right. I'm in the latter, love the screen.

      Cambridge needed to make that unit without a dac for a lot less money.. people prob already have too many dacs.. nobody's going to buy that thing for $1100 if they have a bunch of equipment already, and I don't see that as a beginner's product for that price. It seems like a money grab to me, especially if you can get a salesman to pitch it.

      My thoughts exactly... or you could repurpose a device with screen that is dedicated for streaming. I cheap android smartphone or iphone/ipod... or a bigger tablet. Not always a matter of 'can do'. But also of quality of parts, power supply, DAC, etc. Adding a high quality DAC will not always improve sound. The whole chain en the synergy is also important.

      @navinadv 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Geshelli I configured was about $700 (aluminium box) plus $250 for a WiiM Pro Plus. So that combo comes to about $1000. I’d compare with the Ifi Neo Stream.
      That said the videos on this channel are sounding more like advertising.

    • @cmessi

      @navinadv 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@cmessi I don’t have enough to compare it to. At the time I had a budget of $1000 and the WiiM+Geshelli combo seemed like a more flexible option than the iFi Neo Stream. I got the Amanero+ 4499 + Sparkos options because it fit my budget. Without these options the Geshelli is around $300.
      This CXN 100 wasn’t out then. Having a screen that is 12-15 feet away makes little sense to me anyway. You can barely see the album artwork.

    Randy - You mentioned at the end of this video, your office being on the edge of your wifi...
    If you have a coaxial outlet in your office, you might want to consider purchasing a MoCA 2.5 to connect to your streaming device. If you have more than one device with an ethernet port, you could also use the MoCA 2.5 with an ethernet switch for better connectivity.
    Better streaming capabilites for your office and a possible video idea. 🤷🏾‍♂️

    I've bought the CXN V2 last year together with a CXA 81 amp and CXC V2 CD transport. Early this year I've added a DacMagic 200M to the mix. So my CXN is acting as streamer only and the DacMagic is producing all the sounds. It has the same DAC (x2) as the new CXN 100. Apart from my jet black Sony BluRay player, everything here is Cambridge Lunar Grey.
    Even though the new CXN 100 has a nicer screen and some other updates, I won't be upgrading as I love my CXN V2 + DacMagic 200M combination. Qobuz & Tidal through Roon and StreamMagic handles Internet Radio.

    (The tricky thing is I have a DAC on the PC's USB output, going to the Node's analog input. Good enough for streaming video. I stream everything from the PC like Neflix or Prime , cable or TH-cam, never apps. Good enough for non critical listening or playing videos stored on the PC. If you don't get why streaming from a Node is better than taking the PC's output even with a DAC, go to school, but it does work fine)

    I currently use a Wiim mini into an audiolab 6000a amp, via optical. It doesn’t sound anything like as good as cds !
    I was looking at the Cambridge audio mxn10 which you reviewed. Is it worth double the price for the cxn100 ???? Purely based on sound quality! I don’t need a screen, I use an 8 inch tablet- huge screen!! Would massively appreciate your thoughts

      I would upgrade the WiiM mini to the WiiM Pro Plus and use the coaxial output to the 6000A, and see how that sounds. I owned the CXN V2 streamer, and it was nice, but I cannot say the WiiM is not as good with an outboard DAC. And there are plenty of DACs out there. If you like a warm sound, the SU-1 is nice, and only $79. Or go with a Schiit DAC, they start around $100 if you like a more detailed sound.

    What amp would you suggest for the Magnat Transpuls 1000 speakers? Nothing more than 2000.00 CDN. I listen mostly to jazz, chill, house, reggae, and some classic rock. Since I have a Denon 2800 AV receiver, a salesperson suggests the Denon PMA-900HNE ( since they would match). Personally, I think that the sound would leave me wanting. I also really do not like the look of the Denon. I like the look of Yamaha, Marantz, and Cambridge. Topping and Schitt look nice too. Any suggestions?

I wonder if this CXN100 has a little more sparkle on the top end which I would prefer. Generally speaking British audio products tend to sound a bit rolled off on the top (the British sound).
