    Excellent instructions on putting together this grill along with the seasoning process. Our grill, like other people who have received this grill, had the igniter button broken. I heard about Blackstone’s non existent customer service and I was able to order two exact same igniter buttons on Amazon. I hope this will help people in the future as I have been helped so many times by reading blogs. Just make sure you order the correct double a or triple a button.

    Great video! I bought one of these about 3 months ago and was so intimidated by the weight of the box that I never even opened it! I WILL open up the box this week and get started cooking...Now I can hardly wait.
    Also, loved the chimes in the background. They reminded me of my back porch where my Blackstone will be stationed. And THANK YOU for the paper clip tip.

    I am already thinking about doing some mods. The side and bottom shelves get way too hot, and the burners are affected by the wind. I am thinking of putting a wind blocker and heat shield on it. I am thinking about maybe buying some 6” or 8” hardiboard planks and securing them along the side with brackets that would hold them about an inch away. That would block the wind but still let it breathe, and hopefully shield the side shelves from the heat. Maybe hang a piece below the unit to shield the lower shelf.
    I wonder if the Camp Chef has the same problems.

    • @TheHollarBBQ
      @TheHollarBBQ  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are alot of MODs people have done out there. Let me know if you do any and if they work. I am not affected by the wind too much where I have mine but the side shelves do get get hot.

      I have not used one so I can’t really say. Not sure if it will be better or not. Right now I scrape everything into to front trough then push down to the grease catcher. It might be easier to just push everything to the back and out.

    • @adrianotero7963

    We've used this griddler for a variety of items including steak, fish, vegetables th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMcXT6_MuT0hB3ejyGQQHaeof9bwoWPUf and mushrooms and it's been great! Gets that great smokey flavor when using high heat or sear. The grill works amazingly simple and very low smoke for what it is. Heat gets up fairly quick, especially on closed position. The griddler side is fairly simple, better for eggs and pancakes rather than any cooking. Use the flat plates with the grill side if needed.Cleanup is easy and having heat on both sides is great for cooking a large amount or panini press.This definitely gets hot though so be careful with the sides.

    I really wanted a Blackstone, but ended up with a Nexgrill.
    I think I like the ~ 5" grease opening in the rear of the my griddle surface, rather than a V- trough right above my chancla's.
    I know you came up with a fix on the grease running back up on the underside of the hole, but does the trough contain the food, and grease, when you try to go Bennihana style?

    Can beat the price, going to keep an eye out at my local Walmart. Blackstone has a nice kit but it comes at a price, $499.00. Great video, by the looks of things, you do a lot of grilling, where are you located? I do like that the new one has the grease trap in the back, dont think it makes the griddle any better but from what I heard, the trap is bigger so you empty it less, but not sure hoe easy it is to empty since it is in the back. Also location of the griddle could be a factor, as in your case being up against the house you would have to pull the griddle out every time to empty the grease trap. But hey, you have one I don't, so don't right.

    • @TheHollarBBQ
      @TheHollarBBQ  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jeff I asked the same thing in the blackstone Facebook group. People who had it a long time said don’t worry about it. There were other who said they did. Problem is that sucker is heavy so it would be a pain to keep up. I don’t think a little rust on the bottom will matter. The cook top will way outlast the bottom portion. So most likely you will have to buy a new one years from now because if everything south of the cooktop.

    • @TheHollarBBQ
      @TheHollarBBQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once you season and start cooking it’s basically adding a little more season every time you cook. Just make sure to keep it clean and a very light coat of oil when you are done. Treat it like a cast iron pan. Hope this helps.

  • @micmike
    @micmike 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So, a few observations, doesn't it splash cooking oils and particles all over your house when you grill? I mean very little back splash right? Also, there is no cover for it? Doesn't it get dirty as hell leaving it uncovered for a while between uses? Then you gotta spend a bucket of time cleaning it so you don't got grit in your burgers.....? I don't think they thought this one through, but with a few modifications it could be cool grill

    • @TheHollarBBQ
      @TheHollarBBQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you cook with it close to your house it can cause splatter just like cooking on a stove top. I currently have mine on the edge of my patio facing the yard so it is no bi deal. I agree it needs a cover. I had a metal cover sent to me a few years ago that works perfect. I did a video on it. But with that being said blackstone now offers nice covers and some of the newer stones now come with covers. I really enjoy mine and its held up pretty nice over 2 years. i really like the looks of this griddle, but the bottom of griddle top only has 1 small piece of angle iron on the bottom to prevent warpage. not enough in my opinion. i then saw the camp chef, and was pretty much blown away. the camp chef top will not warp. so.... i am going to go with camp chef. also, i think the new rear grease catcher on the current blackstone model was a HUGE mistake. it's gonna hurt them. people use the sides and back of the griddle to corral food. i don't want to see my expensive meats accidentally go into the grease tray. big mistake on blackstone's part.

      JohnMac I have not seen a camp chef in person yet. I do hear great things about them though. Maybe one day I will get one and do an unboxing on it. Thanks for checking it out.

      I just used what I had, worked perfect. Mine now looks like black glass. Thanks for checking it out.

      That is what Blackstone recommends. I've personally never tried it, I've had good results with almond oil and higher temp veggie oil on cast iron skillets. However, I just bought a Blackstone and will be using flax seed oil to see how it works.

    Great video buddy. That clip won’t be enough to redirect the grease when you’re doing very greasy cooks like bacon. Trust me! Make sure you cover the floor area below if you’re gonna trust it.

      Everyday BBQ thanks for the info. I will keep an eye on it. I did cook bacon last night and it worked perfectly. I will watch when doing more greasy cooks. Thanks for watching brother.

      SamIam B I wish. I meant 199.00. Still a good deal. If I would have waited about 3 more weeks they put them down to 139.00. I love it and now that I have cooked on it a lot I would pay full price. So worth it. Thanks for checking it out.

    You installed your lower propane holder upside down and didn't mention you made mistake. Why?

    • @TheHollarBBQ
      @TheHollarBBQ  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you mean. The way I installed in the video is the way it is now and looks correct to me. The lower portion seems to not matter which way its turned.

      Nice video. I'm just bustin balls but the small hook faces up to catch the bottom rim of the tank. I just bought the stainless version to use on my boat.

      This is the time of year places are getting rid of them so they mark them down. Maybe you will get lucky. After I bought mine it was like 3 weeks and they marked them down to 140.
