Today we go through the upgrades I did to get this thing to 70mph! That is even with the GoPro mounted on top. I also think the Traxxas Stability Management System kicked in when it started to wiggle back and forth and that also prevented it from going any faster. Either way I am really happy with getting it to 70mph. Now I want to try again with the TSM all the way off and with a proper GPS speedometer.

I got me another bandit vxl a new one. It’s the same car but it’s got a new magnum 272R transmission with lunch control and it will go 0-70mph in 3 seconds
What was causing the excessive heat? The gear change or the larger diameter X01 wheels?
I believe it’s the gear change. Too aggressive for this motor and ESC. But I know I’ll be upgrading both soon and wanted to see what the stock setup could handle, even at only a couple passes.
i got a bandit on the velineon 3s what kind of spur and pinion are you running? and for heating up that quick check your wattage pull i run mine about 30 mins on 2s 5000 mah 30c and it runs about 55 with stock gears and i can lay my finger right on the controller when i’m done little to no heat

No it was over geared just a bit, I’m sorry I don’t have the bandit anymore and I don’t recall what the gearing was.
Think about getting a bandit (the 70mph one) for Christmas is it worth it? How much do you like it?
I think it’s definitely worth the money as it’s not that expensive - it’s definitely a fun RC

With the speed gear I think I got 68 but I was quick to upgrade

It is the gearing that makes it so hot I used to have that same gearing in my bandit and it over heated all the time
The castle system I have in it now so far as run sooooo smooth with no overheating

my bandit with a 28t pinion and 74t spur would do 90. but after like 3 passes the Solder on the bullet connectors melted and cause a heck of a fire. i guess time for a rebuild 😂😂

Yes definitely. Gets way too hot for more than that. I have other RCs for bashing.
