I think I speak for everybody when I say the only thing in water that is more magnificent than wild dolphins were the synchronized swimmers on the primetime TV show from the 70s, The Brady Bunch Variety Hour.
I had five abreast coming straight at me in a wave at Malibu a long time ago. I freaked out a bit because I thought the one coming straight at me would crash into me. But with the most minimal amount of effort, the two which were on a collision path with me simple altered their course ever so slightly and went around me. It was then I realized they are 100% in control of every movement, and they would never collide into something unless they intended to do so.

I was out one morning with my buddy and he was still suiting up, I hopped on my board to start riding a wave when all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I see an eyeball. Next thing I know I'm cruising the wave with a pair of them riding along in front of me coaching me. Venice Beach 80's😜✌
Ya they might be having fun. But don't forget they are air breathers as well. If they want a good breath of air they need to get above the water right. I imagine their sailing out of the water has a lot more to do with breathing than it does playing most of the time.

Surfers may be used to it. In magical Malibu this is a regular occurrence. And they are so quick to arrive and depart you barely register that something has happened
I've read that dolphins love and protect humans. Plus if their around you know your SAFE. because dolphins chase sharks away! Plus, they've been known to save DOGS and bring them on their backs and are brought back to the boat they fell off from. They also LOVE playing...with huge boats by playing doing tricks and leading ships thru difficult sea areas. ❤😊
We had a teenager die by a bullshark when she jumped in to swim with a pod of dolphins. So nope you are not always safe just because they are around. Its irresponsible to spread that information as its been debunked already.
Despite the oceans being littered with humans, their toys, garbage and debris, the dolphins still enjoy their home. This is both humbling and beautiful. ❤️
Amazing how aware and safe the dolphins are! They're amazing! I used to kayak by Half-moon Bay in CA. A whale came within feet of me and a few otters! Never gets old!
I’d imagine interactions like these are probably why dolphins have such an affinity to humans. They see us riding waves and having fun and they probably enjoy it as much as we do. Just a thought!

Actually dolphins arent as kind to humans as ppl are led to believe. True ... they wont try to eat you but they become really aggressive sexually and humans are not exempt from being attacked in that manner..😮
They show up to shout at us! They scream on top of their voices: „STOP RUINING OUR HOME U STUPID HAIRLESS APES!!!“ Sadly humanity is really to dumb to understand and keep on ignoring the climate catastrophe we created and keep on creating.
So amazing that these beautiful animals so elegantly altered their courses at the very last moment, so as not to hurt the two surfers who were paddling up to the first ripple at the beginning of the clip. How beautiful this world would be if we could all be so considerate to one another!
Your sentiment is a good one... but that's probably not what they were doing. If it was a log floating in the water, they'd have altered course too; just like you'd have altered your own course to keep from running something over on your skateboard, whether it was a deer or a mailbox ;)

My cousins and I used to swim out at the beach where I live in Australia, when pods of dolphins were passing. Our excited squeals and playfulness would bring them closer to show off.. amazing memories.
Actually that is a common misconception. Sharks and dolphins actually even hunt together sometimes. While it is also true that dolphins outsmart sharks by a lot and can kill one with easy if the size difference isn't too big.
That's awesome dude seeing it on video and being there in real life is completely different I had a similar experience as well it's amazing how it sticks with you.

Don’t get me wrong there are examples of dolphins protecting humans from sharks and helping humans in other situations but that doesn’t mean that’s always the case. There are rare instances of dolphins attacking humans as well although it’s usually due to the humans provoking them in some way.
My daughter and I rode dolphins !belly to belly! in Mexico. She was only 5 at the time. I didn’t realize how big they are until I saw one that close, and then had the honor of it swimming with me, especially heart to heart like that. My daughter showed no hesitancy at all … it was absolutely amazing. ❤

One of the ministers that I used to watch on TBN who is also a surfer dude or a former surfer dude he said that one day he was sitting on his board and a tiger shark came up and took him by the leg and dragged him under. It was by the grace of God that that tiger shark let him go and he swam back up to his board.
This reminds me when I was young and out surfing and the the dolphins would come jump up just like that and we always knew that if they were around we were pretty safe from sharks
@@brunoabramoderramos there are drones showing sharks and dolphins swimming in the same area and some types of sharks kill dolphins so need to be aware that they are individuals and one rule doesn’t fit every situation.
@@tlbryant88 they may kill and injured dolphin or one that's traveling alone. But 2+ dolphins and up they won't mess with. Like all animals as they get older they analyze a situation for whether it's worth the risk or not.
I've been in the exact same situation....and when they come, you can't help but feel spiritual and at peace when in such close proximity to wild dolphins. You come away feeling blessed.
I remember standing on the balcony of the timeshare unit in Richard's Bay or Jeffrey's Bay and there were surfers on the water. The water had gone a bit quiet and so they were sitting on their boards to wait for the next waves. All of a sudden they saw fins come up in the water and you could see them stiffen even at that distance. When the dolphins leapt out of the water, you could see them relax, and then they started pointing them out and clapping, etc!
I've been on a board with dolphins jumping up next to me, it's really cool but scary at the same time because they are huge, and they could easily crack your board in half and knock you out if they landed on you

We lived in the Scottish Highlands for 8 years and we had the privilege of watching them putting on magnificent displays along the Moray Firth, absolutely beautiful 🐬
It’s helpful to know how to spot the differences. Dolphins has a cone shaped dorsal fin. Sharks have pointy dorsal fins. As a surfer of 25 years, they can still make me look twice sometimes🏄

Dolphins make really supportive families. When no danger is present the moms and anties lead, and allow the toddlers to swim with the second graders. Second graders take their job very seriously, they are so careful. I used to jog along the beach and was so happy when I got to see them.

I had dolphin jump over me while I was body surfing once. They used to surf the pressure wave of my sail boat at the bow. I seen them play with a dog in the water as well. I've awoken to them and horses breathing outside my anchored sailboat 20' off a barrier island. The horses were standing in the water with porpoise swimming about them.

Over 23 years I had the pleasure to see that in Bondi beach, it was for me the greatest , first happyness. Dolphins are wonderful ❤🌊🐬🌊🐬🌊❤
I surfed the same wave as a pod of six or seven dolphins when I was younger… one of the coolest experiences I’ve had

Happened to me in San Diego, pacific beach.
My daughter and I rode dolphins !belly to belly! in Mexico. She was only 5 at the time. I didn’t realize how big they are until I saw one that close, and then had the honor of it swimming with me, especially heart to heart like that. My daughter showed no hesitancy at all … it was absolutely amazing. ❤

I’ve always been grateful and laughed my ass off towards men. You guys get bored and say ‘hey let’s try THIS!’ And make it happen! Lol yes some women too don’t get your knickers in a twist lol, of COURSE it was a man who bodysurfed and thought I wanna go faster-I know-I’ll ride a stick!!! Voila! Are you serious, how can any of you think this was incredible?!?! Those serfers had no idea how close they were to those 2 sharks. They could have very easily eaten any of those serfers who were just sitting there like dummies!

That’s the truth.
One of the ministers that I used to watch on TBN who is also a surfer dude or a former surfer dude he said that one day he was sitting on his board and a tiger shark came up and took him by the leg and dragged him under. It was by the grace of God that that tiger shark let him go and he swam back up to his board.

This reminds me when I was young and out surfing and the the dolphins would come jump up just like that and we always knew that if they were around we were pretty safe from sharks

In Baía dos Golfinhos (Dolphins' Bay), Pipa Beach-RN, Brazil, I learned that sharks don't come where dolphins are.
@@brunoabramoderramos there are drones showing sharks and dolphins swimming in the same area and some types of sharks kill dolphins so need to be aware that they are individuals and one rule doesn’t fit every situation.
@@tlbryant88 they may kill and injured dolphin or one that's traveling alone. But 2+ dolphins and up they won't mess with. Like all animals as they get older they analyze a situation for whether it's worth the risk or not.

I've been in the exact same situation....and when they come, you can't help but feel spiritual and at peace when in such close proximity to wild dolphins. You come away feeling blessed.

I remember standing on the balcony of the timeshare unit in Richard's Bay or Jeffrey's Bay and there were surfers on the water. The water had gone a bit quiet and so they were sitting on their boards to wait for the next waves. All of a sudden they saw fins come up in the water and you could see them stiffen even at that distance. When the dolphins leapt out of the water, you could see them relax, and then they started pointing them out and clapping, etc!
I've been on a board with dolphins jumping up next to me, it's really cool but scary at the same time because they are huge, and they could easily crack your board in half and knock you out if they landed on you

We lived in the Scottish Highlands for 8 years and we had the privilege of watching them putting on magnificent displays along the Moray Firth, absolutely beautiful 🐬

It’s helpful to know how to spot the differences. Dolphins has a cone shaped dorsal fin. Sharks have pointy dorsal fins. As a surfer of 25 years, they can still make me look twice sometimes🏄

Dolphins make really supportive families. When no danger is present the moms and anties lead, and allow the toddlers to swim with the second graders. Second graders take their job very seriously, they are so careful. I used to jog along the beach and was so happy when I got to see them.

I had dolphin jump over me while I was body surfing once. They used to surf the pressure wave of my sail boat at the bow. I seen them play with a dog in the water as well. I've awoken to them and horses breathing outside my anchored sailboat 20' off a barrier island. The horses were standing in the water with porpoise swimming about them.
