As much as I like the S&W 3rd Gen 45 Autos the Sig 220 is so much simpler to field strip and put back together.

I recently purchased an early 90s 4506-1 and noticed quite a bit of barrel side play with the slide back. Even with the slide forward the barrel "floats" with slight movement in the slide... Is this normal, as my Walther .390 PPK does not?

Your PPK barrel is fixed to frame, at breech end. ;- )
Is just bought a used 4506 and in SA, it has a click before the trigger actually pulls. Like a light pre-pull. Is this normal? If not, any idea what might be wrong?

I confused it with the 45(86), believe that old smith auto is DAO. These old steel frame and slide smiths are way better then The modern M&P's, and the shields.
