Thank you for doing this. I am using the Tough on the basis of the warranty - I need 100Mb/s write speed for my 4K cameras. Really useful!
Now to get a better card reader....

For comparison, my Sony Tough G 64GB 300/299MB/s UHS-II cards, read at roughtly 270MB/s on Mac and PC with various UHS-II card readers. If I remember correctly, I think they wrote at around 250MB/s. Thank you for this video, giving me confirmation on what to expect for the E and M cards where only read speed for ingesting video quickly is a concern for me :)

I see the problem with the test. You did not test minimum write speed.
When you use it in the camera and record long sessions. You constantly recording 100s of GB in one go. And that's where cards may throttle, overheat or run out of buffer.
And that where the difference may be.
V60 means Card can record at least 60MB/s, even throttling.
V90 means Card can record at least 90MB/S

I’ve just got my first mirrorless. I went for the A7iii.
When I’ve taken a long exposure (4 mins +) it takes really long time ‘processing’
Is this due to the SD Card?
I’m guna get a uhs2 card, and a quicker UHS 1 card as it has 2 card slots. I’m hoping this will improve the ‘processing’ time as after I’ve taken a shot, I can’t do anything with the camera for the next few minutes, which can be annoying when I want to see the shot I’ve just got and start to frame another.
Hopefully someone with a7iii experience can gimme any info.
    Cheers

Is the in camera/long exposure noise reduction tuned on in your camera? If yes then that would explain the long waiting time before you can resume camera operation.

@@r2Sn should I turn this off then? I left it on as it sounds like it’s be something that I’d need, but I’ll turn it off and see how the shots look.

@@h-dawg969 yeah buddy turn it off. The noise can easily be dealt with in post production.
What the in camera noise reduction does is it captures another frame with same shutter speed but the shutter is closed. For example in your case 4min long exposure+ another 4 minute dark frame with shutter closed+ in camera processing. All this adds up to the time your camera is locked up in the processing phase.
Try it with the noise reduction turned off and lemme know if it helped. Cheers...

@@r2Sn yeah I’ll give it a go without NR when I’m next out on a shoot. Cheers for the tips.
