Thanks man. Great video on driving a boat. I bought my first bass boat a couple years ago. Just a 38mph tin can, but applying these lessons to that boat will help get me ready for a bigger faster boat. The competitor in me all of a sudden wants to see some bass boat racing. Stay safe out there.
That is WAY too fast for me lolol!! Ive been in a couple that did 50- 60 and that to me is WAY to fast for comfort. I TOTALLY get it, I love going fast and I totally understand it for tourney fishing, but with that being said...it really feels like you are temping fate when going that fast on the water lolol.
Mine does 70 and when it gets over 63-65 almost the entire boat is out of the water and starts chine walking. "Tempting fate" is exactly the words to describe the feeling. I once spun my prop doing 65 and had an adrenaline dump so huge I had to lie down and recover.
Brian, you have helped jump into full throttle fishing! Your videos are very informative and just down to earth! You are great Fisherman, great dad, husband....etc. You bring the fun to fishing! Enjoy brother! You have earned it!
5:51 great camera angle. Really lets us feel how fast you're moving. My old bass boat only does 40 and it feels pretty quick, but this looks pretty crazy!
I live around Shreveport LA where the make them and have a good friend who works for powertech sales and tunning. I sent this video to him too show all the workers. Keep it safe.
That camera angle from the back looking forward is awesome. That boats a little out of my league. I’ll have to stick to my old ass nitro and live vicariously through y’all big dogs.
I bought a Yamaha. 2003 HPDI -175hp brand new and fish 1-3 times a week . I’ve never had any major problems. It’s a 17 year old motor and it’s been a gem!!! Thanks B-lat for the content!!!!
The fastest I have ever been in a bass boat was 78.2 in a BassCat Eyra with a Mercury Pro XS 250. I was a Coangler riding with the pro with a full load, except no water in live well. This was several years ago running south in the canal between Lake Toho and Kissimmee. There may have been some current aiding this speed. It was a smooth running boat.
Enjoyed the vid. When you find the "magic" prop for your rig, it's amazing. You will get faster holeshot AND the fastest top speed. Gotta love it. Just sold my Javelin Renegade 20 with a 200 Venom. It ran 68 all day as factory rigged with no jackplate or prop swap. Could have tweaked out a few more MPH, but it was such a solid ride that I didn't want to change anything. Love watching your vids and success!
Im mid 60's in a 94 Stratos 285 pro elite dual console, loaded and full tanks with a 25p Renegade 4 blade on a 98 Johnson 175. I just raised it a quarter inch on an old manual jackplate to 3.5" it was at 3.75 so we'll see what that does! I can't believe how much new boats cost, it's insane so im gonna run this one as long as I can. I'm not a tournament guy just a weekend fisherman really enjoy and appreciate your content B Lat
Just saw your new Mercury engine vid today. Then I watched this. Fantastic video, never seen anyone do a boat test like that before. Loved the drone footage. You made the “Tokyo Drifting” part look amazing!
Man, that looked solid at 73. No chine walk is gold. It looked almost as good at 74.4 - Nice! I had a Cajun that was fast, but man, it was scary. That Falcon is a sweet ride.
NICE video man! I watch a lot of prop comparison/change vids, and this has got to be the best filming and "real talk" I have ever seen. So much so, you done gave me water fever for the weekend! Them cats won't catch themselves LOL!!
Nice vid, it’s about time someone makes quality vids tweaking bass boat speeds. The limiting factor for most of us is the availability of spare props to try.
Hey Brian, cool stuff man. I have an older Nitro dc190 ... I did say older 1995. but its a great boat , still in very good shape. Love your boat hope to maybe get one some day. Best of luck with it , and with fishing as well. Carl M in PA
My champion 203 with a optipop 225 does 67 with me and my partner. That feels like Mach 3...lol. my wife has been out with me hundreds of times and she still grabs my leg at around 62 which is the universal sign that tell Mr to SLOW THE FU$K DOWN...lol
Nice video I run a 201 pro 20 ft and some Change with a hydrolic jack plate it performs well my main reason on the length is it does not beat me to death like my skeeter did.
Very nice boat! It's all what your looking for and suits you. I gave up some comfort and ride quality for the speed of my allison. Some are willing to give up the speed for comfort and some arent. Try to get the motor up and a bigger prop for more speed. Smaller diameter will come out the hole better but give up some mph. If you can turn the larger prop, go for it! Safe travels and good luck this year! BTW I know of a 250 SHO on a tunnel that will run north of 120😬
That thing turns good for an aircraft carrier. You should get a BassCat, some Euros got almost 103 miles an hour out of it. If insurance replaces it, maybe they will get it on the next run.
Hey man. Just started following you. Watched ur install of the new motorguide. Havent had time to watch all this vid. But would you recommend it?? Im getting ready to buy one in a couple weeks. Tour Pro 82 with pinPoint
You mentioned “no chine walk”. I’ve got a ‘19 F195 (love it, btw) with the Merc 200. At about 65 (with lots left in her) she gets pretty squirrelly. Suggestions?
4 blade prop will reduce the walk, you are likely running low and need to raise the engine a little. Never been in that hull so i can only speak in general. Some hulls just walk and you have to learn how to keep it at bay. 5 years ago i ran a Triton TR21/ 250 ProXS and that hull just walked it was part of running it... She was a 78mph boat with a normal load and around 68 the walk would start and you just had to learn to keep it at bay. 4 blade prop would make it to where you had to try and make the boat walk in order to see any. Hole shot is improve and rough water handling is improved lift in increased when carrying heavy loads but speed suffered by about 4 to 6 mph but performance in every other way is increased with the 4 blade and like i said made the boat a total baby to handle. First thing would be lifting the engine a little at a time watching water pressure and you will likely see an improvement when on the pad with less walking or walking will easier to correct with just the wheel and less trim inputs. If you have the coin and want to pretty much halt the chine walking issues just simply run a 4 blade prop it will totally or close to eliminate it.
Cool vid B.Lat Great to hear your thoughts on all this. In the segment where you are doing all the turns with the drone footage - 5:50 - 8:00 - are you running trim full down, and what JP height, roughly? Keep of the great vids, appreciate them. Appreciate you!
Excellent hole shot. 3 seconds!!!! 3 blade or 4 blade?? Getting more RPM with the 24? Hole shot better with 24? I have a Fury 4 blade 23 ordered to replace Fury 3 blade 24. Fingers crossed.
That Rooster Tail at 11 min to 12.5 min was awesome. Dont even know if the boat was in the water, have not seen this performance from a boat since living in NJ watching off shore Racing :)
Nice boat , buddy of mine had a Lazer bass boat with 2.5 Bridgeport, I rode in ONCE. I have a 20' Skeeter 225 that's fast , but that Laser scared the living shit out of me.
Thinking real hard on going with a falcon 205 got a dealer local now that has them and Yamaha! Last week n the Pickwick Toyota series Justin Adkins blew by me n his falcon I was impressed
I should had waited to break in my new mercury when the water was like that. Went on Hartwell last Saturday. Never again break in on a weekend. Plus side handled rough water great.

80 mph on a set of water skiis and 150ft rope in a sharp turn is the best for me!! And yes, ive fallen at that speed...when i have, it seems i skipped at least 400ft before slowing down. Thanks for an honest evaluation of your boat and a change in props.👍👍👍. Just one question: where did you find a beautiful lake like that with no other boats? Is it only available for pro fishermen? 👀👀
Hi Brian, going to pick up my 2018 Falcon 205 I just purchased next saturday. 114hrs on the motor. 250 mercury pro xs. Is there anything you would suggest regarding purchasing a used falcon boat or any suggestions regarding the motor? Anything is helpful.. Watching you fish the past few yrs has inspired me and has made me grow to love the Falcon brand. Have a great one buddy.
Seems like the falcons are pretty stable? I wonder how one would perform with one guy thats 380lbs behind the wheel? Would it dip really bad towards the drivers side?
Thanks man.

People without bass boats don't realize how fast 70+ feels on the water. It's too bad videos never do it justice.
Mine will do about 55 but 45 feels fast as hell to me
I get 65 out of my boat, and man you are right. You just don't know until you do it.
