There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING like those Mercury Racing 2.5L 2 stroke outboards, nothing sounds like them and even today nothing can run with them. Awesome motors that were years ahead of their time from the 80's.
You guys have never hit that unseen rollers. Before the 20' Bullets came out I had a 19' with a 200 black max. It was a pretty quick setup for the early 1990s. I was going south past Sand Island on Watts Bar when out of nowhere there was this huge set of waves. They were large enough that they didn't crest on top, just roll. I didn't see the cruiser even though it was a long straight. I hit the first one wide open, I let off the hot foot to save the engine and didn't touch the next two waves. As the boat started to touch back down I opened it up again and it landed super soft. The Lord was watching after this fool that day. It wouldn't happen like that again in a million years. I bought my first Ranger soon after, top speed was 65 mph. lol
@@Article_170 I didn't tell about my buddy. He did that two hair combover thing and never took off his hat. He also wore a lifejacket anytime the engine was running. One hand went on his hat and the other held his lifejacket. You know how time seems to stop when things go wrong, I glanced over at him in mid flight and he hadn't moved a muscle. I would have been like a cat grabbing at anything. I had the steering wheel and we still haven't found the driver's seat ! lol
@@turdferguson5300 Haha that’s awesome. I run an offshore racing marina and have had my fair share of bumps in the class 1 racing scene with Outerlimits SL52’s. Dangerous as hell but man it’s just too much adrenaline to quit
I had the same thing happen to me in a Ranger 520. I was done on the wave before I saw it and I automatically started to trim the motor down and when the boat went air born I lifted off the hot foot and as soon as I landed I punched it and all was good, but man that really scared me that day. My wife was with me and of course she swore I done it on purpose and by the time we got back to the ramp I never knew there was that many bad words that existed and she chewed about 25 pounds of my butt off. She still swears I did it on purpose, but God was looking after me that day also. I told her it was just my expert driving skills, but I never told her it was God who drove that boat through that wake. I love to go fast, but now if there's a lot of boats on the water I slow down a lot. Things can happen quick out there. But anyways that's an awesome video and thanks for sharing.
Sometimes these comments crack me up. It's pretty obvious that It's very dangerous out there. No rouge rollers in Turkey Creek. You know it starts with being aware of your location and surroundings. EAGLE vision to the other boats that are or have been running in the area. Wind speeds. Being aware will save your life well before running a 19ft bullet out on the main channel of Watts Bar. Sounds like you saved it. Yes rollers can come out of know were depending on wind direction and current. To make a comment like you did about rollers in Turkey Creek on Ft. Loudon is ridiculous. That guy who drives that other boat was a professional driver for Hooters. And honestly my brother is the best driver of fast boats that I know on the water. Anyways enough of my little rant.
The first boat i learned how to drive was a 600+ pound Allison XST 18ft with a Merc 150 XR4 my Dad bought from my Unc Earl and he had a 200 Merc on it. But for tourneys to be legal he put the 150 Merc xr4 on it. It would run 80ish on calm water. First run of the morning get to the hole couldnt tie a hook for shaking so much from the Allidrenalin Rush!!!! Lake Murray S.C. in the mid 90s I Miss U Dearly Uncle Earl he was a Legend, and one hell of a fisherman taught me a lot. God those were the Days!!
@@keithdodson7536my dad and me both learned in a 17ft xst. We've won some race at lake Murray in our Allison bass boats, xb2002's. I have a few videos on my channel of them.
Yea that comment has got a lot of push back on here. Who knows what the actual rpms are. But that is what he said and I know he was one of the main drivers for hooters speed boats or something. I don't know, lol.
Pretty nuts if that's accurate. If you do the math on 15k with a 20P prop @ 7% slip it'll put him at 141 mph and i thought i heard him say the boat has seen 140
Me 2 way back in 1992. I had been drinking all day. Guy made me wait until lake calmed down that Sunday. I was sober and waving him off. 50 is to fast for me. 😂
100 MAYBE 110 if hes takin the 260 to 9500 with the 24..... math dont lie ........ a 32 gunna lose about 1600 RPM...... so 8000 is 116 ish it MIGHT squeek 120 if its PERFECT and only about 5% slip ....
Well guys I'm no engine expert, All I know is that guy use to race for Hooters. So I'm sure he was prolly talking up some shit. but It's one fast fucking boat. All the complaining on this video is hilarious. And I've come to the conclusion that people are jealous they don't own this boat... Change my mind.
A good 260 that has the chest removed and compression (which you can hear at idle) is capable of turning a 24 on that drag ally 10k to 10500k in 1320’. I’ve spun a stock 245hp (carb version of the 260) with a 24 to 9k.
Some people don't know what they don't know. They need to get out of their parents' basement and hit some outboard drags. There, they can get/see the facts firsthand. Better yet, they need to sign up and run their boats. I had a 20' Bullet until I got outrun by an Allison with less horsepower. Drug the Bullet out to Tennessee and brought an Allison XB2002 back.
Dont get me wrong, Allison's are fast, some of the fastest and 120 is definitely achievable, but 140 I think is a lil out of range. Im pretty sure the record for that boat is high 120's or low 130's, someone correct me if Im wrong. Still a Bad Ass boat though.
There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING like those Mercury Racing 2.5L 2 stroke outboards, nothing sounds like them and even today nothing can run with them. Awesome motors that were years ahead of their time from the 80's.
God those old Merc 2.5 racing motors are still so badass! Few guys still have them around here. Can hear them coming for miles!!
It wild to see fast boats getting blown pass by other really fast boats, damn I love that bullet but that ally was a different level. Awesome video
Jesus lord that was a great 6 minutes. Really shows the speed on water well
Who doesn't love an Allison?
This on Douglas Lake? That’s one quick boat. Love Allison’s. XB-21 is my dream bass boat.
This was on Ft. Loudon Lake.
This is SOOOO much better, THANK YOU!!!!
Time on the wafer is amazing.

Nothing will ever beat the sound of an unlimited 280 powerhead!!!!
My neighbor had one that would run 115+ and you could hear him coming for miles.
What a ridiculous yet glorious boat. To have him walk away from you like that when you're doing 60 plus is unreal.
He's looks like an older surfer dude. Cool video!
Yea he does

Nice video! i love your Yamaha Vmax sounds! Also the 2.5 Merc! I have a friend who has the same engine (Vmax 300)
Great driving man, and awesome video! That Allison is a rocket! What a cool dude, also, he definately has some seat time in a fast boat.
FN love the sound of those smokin Mercs!
Take yours though any/every day of the week. Kind of hard to plug the bank in that Allison 😆
Got to love the Allison 👍
I love my 84mph Bullet too, it’s fast enough for me!
Do you have a hot foot? Because it looks like your using your leg but using your hand at the same time. Just wondering. 2 badass boats on the water
Need an F18D to do a low level flyby while they're running. Seriously nice rig though, can't believe how fast these boats have gotten.
I think that boat won a World Championship back in the late 90s if that’s it. Same exact paint, model, etc.
I'm not sure, I just know it's one bad boat!!
God Yes quite a few probably the most common color of the Allison Drag boats.
That does look like Phillip Bonds old boat.
Holy cow that thing is fast

Awesome boats!

Thats one fast boat
LOL I say a Bass boat with a 300 Merc on it and I thought it was fast.
You are a great driver man.
The guy in the Red Allison’s hair alone is worth another 20 MPH in top end speed.

Whah wuh tha thang run?
Whah wuh tha thang run?
It's an upper 115 boat. The driver claimed it would do more. But alot folks on social media blasted the guy for saying it was faster.
You NEED A ALLY!
you already know how to drive a vee
It'll turn 15k did i hear that right?

Absolutely
Nasty ol merc
For sure!
I ain’t got the guts to do that yet. Fastest I’ve been is 45 in my boat. Can’t imagine those speeds. Sweet rig though
Yea Buddy once you break 70-80. It's a whole different deal.
So it's addictive?
@@jimmielittle877 Yes!
I’ve went 114 mph in a bullet 21xrd with one of them 315hp Merc 2.5s on the back. If I could get my Ranger to go that fast I’d be happy.
I got a new boat and have hit 71 with it and I love it now!
I finally got my bullet to hit 80 mph...its a 17vee with a 2.5 efi..but i get 80mph in the quarter mile....26 pro max prop 7600rpm...love it
Nice! I bet that is a quick little ride!
@@EastTnFishing yea it quick enough to scare off those 100mph boats.lol

He did. Not sure if he was smoking a little something. But that one got a pretty good comment going with it,lol.
Fuckin awesome I want a grand sport now
The landing ten mile Tennessee
Might run 85 down the interstae
