Yea, he'll just blather on about how the interrogator's questions are too simple and small minded and then proceed to go on some pseudo philosophical tirade.
Seriously, usually I side with Gabe when he argues with Yahtzee, but jesus his clear and obvious question dodging pissed me off this time
Gabe is a narcissist. He makes that plain as day in the Let's Drown Out Assassin's Creed video.
I'm not surprised that a guy who honestly believes he's on a "higher level" than those around him would refuse to answer direct questions about his nature from those "lower" than he is, or proclaiming that he's "above it all" and that there's no point in asking him anything.
Over the years, I've listened to Gabe slowly become the biggest hipster and cynical douchebag anytime someone honestly wants to empathize with him, even if the exchange is one-sided and on the internet. I get that overcoming your worst natures and beating back addiction is a fucking huge achievement, and I applaud him for doing so. But the way he's going, Gabe is going to wind up as that stereotypical bitter old man that sits on the stoop of his house, shouting at children on his lawn and griping about how "no one gets it" and waxing nostalgic (even as he rips into others for doing it, too).
I hope he figures himself out in the near future, because honestly it is getting painful to listen to.

honestly I think gabes answer was a valid one. everybody has their own wants in life and it wont always make sense to everybody else. I think tons of people dont actually want much of anything in theirs and when a question like that gets asked they feel like they have to come up with something that sounds good to others when really "I dunno, do what I feel like doing when I feel like doing it" is what they actually want.

I'm on the autistic spectrum, and even I find Gabe's reactions to simple questions bizarre.
its what happens when a pseudo intellectual gets challenged with a direct question.
they go the politician route and evade giving an answer that can be judged as hard as they can.
essentially it's a self preservation tactic so that they can't potentially be called out as an idiot and have their intelligence brought into question thus destroying what little shred of self worth they might have in that particular field, much the same as calling a poser out on an obvious bit of bullshit they're spouting.
He seems to me that he's actually an intellectual who has a hard time articulating certain points. You should understand that Yggi11, given that it's a common behaviour amongst those on the spectrum. I've met plenty of pseudo-intellectuals and plenty of actual intellectuals. The actual intellectuals are far more likely to be awkward and never seem as smart as a fake at first glance due to the confidence that the fakes will usually exude.

I think gabe does this thing where when the question gets too personal he assumes the other person is looking for THEIR personal answer. He clings to objectivity because that's easy when you've not practiced your empathy.
Or to steal the statement from someone else: gabe's answers make sense if you mentally add "oh wise one" before the question.
That being said, like others have pointed out he could be intentionally dodging answering a personal question and frankly who can judge him for that? I have similar personal questions I don't like answering and it's usually plainly because I don't wanna feel interrogated. No one's obligated to share anything with you about themselves, so when they refuse it's a lack of tact to press them on it.

It's literally just him getting hung up on two things. The idea there's an objective game of the year and his own personal game of the year which Yahtzee had to bring him towards the latter. (And to be fair, he probably saw it as a meaningless title given it got stuck on every game as "Game of the Year edition". Dead Island, anyone?)

It's a zen thing and it's because he used to be horribly depressed.
Its not even really an "I don't think about it" or something bland like that, instead its "Its a dumb question with a weird questioner". He seemed really uncomfortable answering, I mean even an "I don't really wanna talk about it" would be a hell of a lot better.
Answering the question of life's meaning with "it's an irrelevant question" is a valid philosophical stance. I guess I can see how it can be frustrating but I don't think it's something he forces, it's just what he thinks.

Gabe will forever be remembered as a stubborn git who gives Ayn Rand's brand of objectivism a run for her money.
The more I think about it, the more it terrifies me that Gabe went into a teaching job. Considering how he can't even be asked to answer a simple questions without going into full-on politician mode, him going into an instructing position is terrifying to me.

Every single one of their Let's Do Whatever videos begins with warbling electric insanity noises for a few seconds before they start talking and the sound fixes itself. I love it. Either way, I kind of want to have two costumes for wandering around town at night looking mysterious and awesome. Either this blue merchant man, or a plague doctor.

Right? I thought I was the only one. Especially the general vibe of the caves and castles. It's possibly because I started playing both DS2 and RE4 because of Let's Drown Out, and at around the same time, so I kind of have them connected in my brain, but there really are some similar vibes, even though they're entirely different games/genres.

Yahtzee, if you read can be bothered to this: The boatswain is a ships senior non-commissioned officer(usually a Petty Officer or Chief Petty Officer, or in very rare wartime cases a Warrant or Chief Warrant Officer). Generally is the chief of staff for the non-coms and enlisted on the ship, chief of the boat (COB, third ranking person below the Captain and Executive Officer) on a submarine. The person at the helm is the coxswain, a junior commissioned officer position, usually an Ensign or Lieutenant Junior Grade(JG). On bigger ships the slot can go up to Lieutenant Commander, Commander, or in some cases Commodore or some Admiral, if your navy is overloaded with high ranked senior officers.
I learned this reading the Honor Harrington books which are accurate to classic naval rank structures.

A BOATSWAIN is the man in charge of the crew. The chief engineer is in charge of the engineers the captain is responsible for the deck officers (and technically everyone) the boatswain is responsible for the minions. He usually answers to the captains number 2 the (chief office)
You mean the executive officer, who is ultimately responsible for the smooth running of the ship.

It's really weird how uncomfortable Gabe feels about the attention he gets. I understand being awkward about compliments but being unable to understand that people want to know you is insane.

It bothers me that they never buy the stock for the Red 9, it's much better to shoot at longer distances, and it really makes the 6.5 exclusive damage worthwhile, helping you make every shot count.
Nevermind that they never went for the TMP, which is invaluable simply because it's a large pool of ammo you can use, putting a stock on the TMP makes it a passable little carbine for close to medium ranges, just do slight taps, the stock helps you aim for the head (or anything else you need to shoot at). It can also be used against Regeneradors if needed.

I love how Gabe makes a passing remark about his encounters with upper level drug dealers but then proceeds to have a long and thoughtful discourse on his future TV purchase and his Warhammer 4k career.

Yahtzee is the greatest at videogames and Gabe I'm 100% positive you have great qualities we never hear about.
While the Red 9 does have a lot of power, the penetrating ability afforded by the pistol given to you by the blue medallion accomplishment allows you to deal with multiple attackers (and attackers with shields) much more efficiently.

What's funny is that I've been watching them play this and I actually replayed it yesterday and I binge played it in one day. But holy fuck I got so low on ammo in the last part soooooo much that I was truely terrorfied that I was gonna have to use my knife

Yatzee should have turned around as soon as he got the key and faced the ladder to quick knife every enemy trying to get up the ladder. For some reason enemies in RE4 have a real weakness to being quick knifed trying to climb ladders and being knifed through wooden doors with a hole shot through it, the Villagers in perticular a very weak to this.
For this to work it's best to kill both the Dr Salvadore before picking up the key.

I use 3d in nearly all my games through nvidia's 3d vision plus a series of corrective mods in the site called helixmod. Hell sometimes games even work fine out of the box, but even if there isn't a corrective mod for a particular problematic game sometimes there are fixes you can do through nvidia inspector or turning off shadows inside the game. Torchlight 2 is one of the best examples, it works out of the box and if you set the convergence just right it looks like you're playing a animated model, and some magic jumps out of the screen (much like maze hunter but much much much better of course lol)
You do have to learn how to set the convergence just right so stuff only jumps slightly out of the screen instead of being right in your face which doesn't work for 3d and quite possibly will give you headaches, leaving it too deep inside the tv and the 3d effect won't be nowhere near impressive. Setting the convergence is way more important than setting the depth.
I swear I'm the only one who had Geralt Yen only. Whitelocks kept it in his pants. >:3
