I always thought I had a good metabolism, until I started gaining weight. Surprise, not playing soccer every single day and going to Dunkin donuts instead will "slow down your metabolism". Shocking. I'm shocked.

I’ve been depressed and anxious about my weight for a majority of my life and this year I decided to do something about it. Ever since September I’ve lost 50 pounds (halfway there), and before I went on this fitness journey, I honestly knew nothing about health. Your TH-cam channel has taught me so much. It’s taught me not to be too hard on myself. It’s taught me how to count calories and how to approach various other situations. Overall, I just wanted to thank you for all of your videos and all the insight you have given. It’s forever changed my life!!

I am never sure if these comments are coming from a "nice" / "kind" place or if the people making the comments are naive or maybe the worst one, jealous because not wanting to see other people succeed 🤷🏻‍♂️
The bottom line is, keep doing what you are doing to feel good!
Call me paranoid but the same people will gossip behind your back that you've "picked up some" if you stop

This video really resonated with me. My mum has always said our family are draught horses not race horses! Genetics definitely aren’t on my side, especially with PCOS as well. But all is not lost! Over the past few months I’ve lost 8lb and am focusing on building muscle, getting my NEAT up and carefully tracking what goes in my mouth. Thanks Jordan! #sortinghatsquad

I’ve been following you for about 6 months and you have changed my view on, well my whole life. I have struggled with being overweight my whole adult life and binging. I’ve always looked for quick fixes and usually ended up going off the rails as a result. Since watching you on TH-cam and following you on instagram, I have lost 25lbs! Thanks to a calorie deficit mentality and to you I don’t look for quick fixes anymore and I have a healthy relationship with food now! #SortingHatSquad

Also I just have to tell you that today I used the Smith Machine for the first time at the gym even though that’s where all the mirrors and the meatheads are! Oh Jordan you have my little muggle heart!!!! This video is hands down one of my favorites. Thank you for everything! #sortinghatsquad

I appreciate you touching on lifestyle and not just age for metabolism! I have spent so many years on awful medications, eating like crap, and barely working out... of course, my metabolism sucks! I have mad some great changes over the last 10 years but I'm attempting to undo over 20 years of damage and I am older now so my body doesn't bounce back as fast! I really try not to focus on metabolism as much as being in a calorie deficit, eating nutrient-dense foods, and movement!

I appreciate that you don't just say something and move on. You explain the reasoning. Like with coffee, you could have just said "Yeah, drinking coffee can help with burning calories."
Instead, you explain that it's not about caffeine consumption as much as coffee can suppress appetite and give you more energy to move which inherently will burn more calories and keep you on a deficit.
The way you explain things just feels more open and honest, and I wanted to thank you for it.

For those of us older and fatter, sometimes even walking can be hurtful. I was enjoying my walks, but my knees got gradually more sore. Finally, I tweaked something in my knee and could barely walk. I found that if I do non-impact work on an eliptical, rower or even a stepper (where your feet don't leave the pads), most of the stress came off my knee. Just go very slow.

Just found you (this is the first video of yours I have seen) via John (obese to beast) talked about whilst watching an Abbey Sharp video where you're mentioned. New subscriber straight away 😍

I'm trying a combination of increasing activity, decreasing carbs, & intermittent fasting 16:8 so far since the end of December I'm down 17 lbs. with 27 to go before I get to 220 & reevaluate my goal & approach. My goal is a 2 lb loss of fat a week which I believe is sustainable. So far so good. Wish me luck on my journey!

You're a mind reader. I was thinking about the difficulty of people using genetics as an excuse and you hit the nail on the head. Thank you! Great explanations. #sortinghatsquad

I love your videos! As someone who has a thyroid problem, I get having to work a little harder. But since following you and watching your videos, I’m down 17lbs and no longer binge or obsess over the scale. It’s just data and I can’t fuck this up! #sortinghatsquad

That was a very informative video. That’s probably hours of research i were to read and try to understand on my own, provided I know where to start looking.

Cutting through the bullshit per usual!! Another good real talk video. Can't believe all the shit I fell for as a teenager and young adult (hydroxycut, shocking ab belts, meal replacement shakes...but no clue about nutrition in any real way and no meaningful movement) D'OH! Now in my early 30's and finally feel like I'm learning and being realistic with health and fitness. Your content helps! #sortinghatsquad

i'm a 4 ft 11 girl , and come from a family who have always struggled with their weight. I find it really hard to put on muscle and or loose fat , in the past ive almost used this as an excuse. but since march last year i've lost 30lb and i've gained; no lower back pain, the ability to hip thrust 60kg for 5 reps, deadlift 50kg and squat 30kg for 8 reps, and I can almost do a chin up! I can go on the eliptical for 60mins when I used to be exhausted in minutes and can last the rounds at jiu jitsu. I sleep better and my recent bloods from my doctor was the best they've ever been. By changing my mindset to one of performance based goals rather than weight and learning that i cant fuck this up because the only person im competing against myself is me, ive stopped being so bitter and frustrated at the challenge and started enjoying it :) #sortinghatsquad
