  • The TCC 78000 gantry crane has a lifting capacity of up to 1,600 tonnes. This rail mounted heavy lift crane moves over 420 metres on a portal between the Liebherr-MCCtec Rostock GmbH factory site and the adjacent quayside. Equipped with a double trolley (two rails per side) and a rail gauge of 30 metres, the gantry crane provides optimum flexibility for handling all types of large-sized goods.

    The only description of this video without going into the very complex details and accurate calculations in addition to the biggest factor in the success of Liebherr company and they are the work team. I call the video magic
    I ask Liebherr to present offers to the Egyptian state because Egypt is now carrying out the modern revolution of building Egypt, and the Egyptian government is now focusing on large projects in ports and airports and more than other new cities. I am ready to provide all information about the Egyptian market, which is very poor in modern heavy equipment and the lack of service centers. It is trusted by Egyptians who have the profession of heavy equipment
    Thank you for the creativity Ramy El Agizy, the owner of House of Cranes in Egypt - Alexandria

    What a monster, amazing!
    Love that statically determinate undercarriage! How does it go around curves like that? Must be pretty difficult to get it to work with that sort of curvature and also allow for slight errors in rail distance.

    • @YensR
      @YensR 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @A S Humphrey not the same thing. for some large multi-axle locomotives the engineering to go around curves can get a bit complicated, this will be a different level of complexity.

    • @JohnBurnet1
      @JohnBurnet1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @A S Humphrey at 2:46 it quotes "Designed for travelling with load"

    • @YensR
      @YensR 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @A S Humphrey You are very quick with your judgement. But I think you need to brush up on your solid mechanics understanding, as a statically determinate undercarriage like for this crane is not at all similar to a train that sits on sprung axles and where each carriage can be treated individually, as their connection is not rigid.
      I didn't talk about speed or in fact which is the greater feat of engineering as a whole, I wondered about the specific issues of such a large statically determinate structure navigating curves on an imperfect rail section.
      If you have anything worthwhile to contribute to this, I'm all ears, buddy.

    • @YensR
      @YensR 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @A S Humphrey you could just google those "silly" "names" and learn something. And in doing so realise that this crane has very different engineering challenges than a train.
      Then look at 1:09 and explain how all those wheels that are in-line go around the curve? Or when you last saw a train that had this arrangement of wheels and went around a curve.

    • @YensR
      @YensR 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @A S Humphrey But it's not enough that the 4x10 bogies (which each have two axles with two track wheels each, so need to sit on the tracks rather exactly) have a swivel around the vertical axis - that would not allow them to go around a curve. The yellow connector beams also need to have a degree of freedom around the vertical axis. In 0:47 you can see how these beams are connected to the bogies and the other beams. Now, the radius of that curve is rather large, but surely we'd be talking plusminus several degrees - but the pins that are shown don't look like they'd allow that. And a spherical bearing there seems impossible from a packaging point of view and would introduce too many degrees of freedom, so I am quite unsure how they do it. I tried to search Liebherr's page for more detailed pdfs, but found nothing.
      www.liebherr.com/shared/media/maritime-krane/downloads-und-brosch%C3%BCren/tcc-78000/brosch%C3%BCre/liebherr-tcc-78000-travelling-cargo-crane-brochure-german.pdf
      In the title image it looks as if the yellow beams are somewhat askew - that would indicate that there is some rotation around the vertical axis. It is of course possible that the animation shown oversimplifies the assembly.
      I found an old white paper on gantry cranes, it explains some of the considerations, but it covers a bit of a different design, so not totally applicable.

    WOW!!!! I am blown away at the lifting capacity of this unit... Does anybody know, if the dual hook locations can each lift their max loads, at the same time, or the max load only one at a time on the boom assembly? example, @3:17, video shows, the boom at approx 45 degree angle, and the 99 meter line has a lift capacity of 250t and the 75 meter line has 586t, will the super structure crane unit handle lift the combined line load of 836t of both lines? or one at a time, of either line of your choice, just not both at the same time.. Not to sound like a parrot in repeating myself, rather, just desire to be clear and understood... either way.. This is amazing!!!! Lieberr, thank your graphic artist for putting together this rendition animation for me.. very well done.
