He does sound better than he was did in 7 Remake in the “Price of Freedom” cutscene at least in my opinion.

@@MiichaeI Idk... the ending of this video is of him falling, and the acting was terrible and sounded forced. I'd have to compared it to Rick's VAing and see if he did any better.
@@MiichaeI Even without comparison to Rick Gomez, any person with experience in theater can tell his delivery in so many scenes is so off. It's like he wasn't aware of the context of the scenes, so he sounds so disconnected from what's going on and sounds bored.

I actually enjoyed it, it's supposed to play off as funny... the voice actor nailed the dry humor of this scene.

Imo, I love this version of Angeal’s delivery of “What do Angels dream of?!”
It started with a flat tone until the “dream of?!” with his voice going on a higher but raspy tone which is a nice addition to show his rage. In the original it all sounds on the same tone but it was still good.

Also how is it a "fun fact" when the game blatantly has cutscenes of people saying to Sephiroth that he was "born of Jenova cells" and that Sephiroth himself flat put says Jenova is my mom.
The real truth is that all of them are dead wrong.
Hojo is his father and Lucrecia Crescent is jis mom. Only Vincent Valentine knows the real truth behind everything, since they put him through the same experiments and imbued chaos into him

1:10 I don't necessarily think the dub acting is bad, but this scene, and this line in particular, are acted *way* more subdued, while the body language suggests a much more forceful delivery. It's kinda funny how disproportionate they are.

This has me worried about part 2 of the ff7 remake now, i'm not sure I can get behihd the new voice actor for zac and i'm worried if it's going to be just as bad once it drops
Dude. Watching the original and then this back to back.. the voice acting in the original is so much better. Watching this version VA makes me feel like I'm watching a school play. The dialogue, while cheesy actually feels emotional in og and here it just feels cheesy all around. Angeals VA was better, but Rick Gomez is just so damn good and brings a level of maturity to Zacks character that Zacks new VA can't compete with. He sounds childish. That my friends is why I'm buying it on PC so that the inevitable original VA mod so I can re experience crisis cores emotional story without compromise. I'm really seriously wondering if the new VAs are even capable of getting me choked up like the og cast.
While I think I can get past the new VAs, I just really really wish they rehired Rick Gomez. He is the reason, imo, why Zack is such a loved character.
I agree with you on Zack's VA. Angeal's, I'm torn, because I prefer the monotone delivery of 'world domination' (which I believe was better for the deadpan, sarcastic response) and a good chunk of other lines. I feel like it fit the character. But this new voice actor for him isn't bad, by any means, and I'm glad it wasn't a Zack situation.
To be fair, Zack isn't supposed to be exactly mature, he's actually only 16. Zacks notably more mature after he receives the buster sword and realizes slowly how messed up shinra is, but I do agree that Rick Gomez as Zack definitely gave a different tone to the character. Guess we'll see when the game comes out how well he does when the story progresses.

Man....the new voice actors sound a bit similar to the original which is good....except for Zack smh 🤦♂️ atleast Rick Gomez, you can feel his frustration in his words an emotions. But this guy Caelab....😑 it sounds like he reading words off a script....which yeah I know he is but the point of voice acting, is to be the character, not act as the character.

Okay, Bill Millsap as Angeal is pretty good from all the scenes we've seen from him, he matches Josh Gilman a lot from the original and out does him occasionally. But god damn, Caleb Pierce as Zack is just really bad, a lot has to do with his wooden delivery, and this is not just when comparing him to Rick Gomez, this is just judging him as a voice actor in general. He's just saying his lines like there's no prior context, even I know darn well that Real Voice does in fact try their best to give proper direction. Pierce's roles as Zack are his only voice acting role, with him being a live action experienced actor, and it really shows. Again this just shows the time old saying - "Just because you're an actor, doesn't mean you're also a voice actor".
After listening to Zack, I now understand why the music is trying to overshadow the voices

Cleared this game yesterday and found that at least the 70% of dialogues are pure cringe.. the story per se is nice, but man, even when FF franchise is about just that, Fantasy, the lines threw it to the toilet and flushed it
Yes, this Zack is not as good as Rick Gomez (though I think the new guy is better than people are making it out to be. Just not as good as the original.) But Angeal’s new VA is better and anybody who denies that is full of shit lol

these performances from the VA are really amateurish but I think not even a fourth-dimensional voice elemental could have saved this script
If they didn’t change a word of the dialogue, then why didn’t they just keep the original recordings instead of butchering the game with this poor acting? These new actors don’t have nearly as much emotion in their voices as the originals
Forget the voice acting. The cut scenes in this game are bad on a basic level before you even get to the voice acting.
Angeal doesn't think he's an angel, but then he suddenly accepts the premise and suddenly realizes it's the perfect way to explain what he wants? And why is THAT then the right time to punch Zack?? What do these two actually WANT at the end of their conversation? Why the hell are they saying what they're saying? If Zack wants to talk Angeal out of his plan, why doesn't he come up with something else to say? If Angeal wants to push Zack away, why doesn't he just do it from the start? What do either of them gain from all the long stretches of silence?
And why does Angeal enter that way?? It's not a tight hallway, it's a huge warehouse, does he think Zack can't just walk around the sword?! It's like a Naked Gun joke.
I'm sorry, but Angeal's dialogue delivery is just so damn dry....
Edit: Everyone else I've heard in this game sounds fine. It's so weird that they dropped the ball so hard on one of the main characters.
