    Yep...foot was tappin...Mighty fine pickin!! Maybe you should consider buying a couple more Ultra's Chris...LOL. Yes I have 6 older Stihl's that I rotate when cutting. Their not new saws, but very reliable. Enjoyed the music and watching the Ultra zip thru the rounds.

    My wife and I enjoy your vids with our morning coffee. I agree with multiple saws. I do the same. Have 3 sizes because we cut in the woods. I also change chains and sharpen on a Oregon bench grinder. Lots of public lands in NW New Mexico and SW Colorado. Going to add a 572 soon. I think it will run better at high elevations. We cut Aspen at 8000 ft. above sea level. Good morning Irene.

    My foot isn't tapping, but I was mesmerized. We kindly request less time-lapse. This video is only 16 minutes long and now I have to sit here and do nothing for 23h and 44m until 6:30am tomorrow. I know, "go out... work... blah... blah..." hahaha! Hey, thanks for letting me bless you with the check. I know it doesn't change your retirement date, but seriously I am so appreciative for the time and effort you expend responding to EVERY comment, the daily posts, etc. Question for a future voice-over. What is that pile in the middle of your wood yard that you encircle? Is it dirt that never got leveled or something? Maybe it's not a pile, but on video it looks like elevated ground. See ya tomorrow!

    Makes a lot of sense to me to run multiple saws. Of course my situation is a little different, big tree saw, thinning tree saw, trimming saw, and a couple few meat and potatoes saws. Even if I worked in a proper woodyard all the time, I'd have at least 3 (two meat and potatoes and one smaller one).

    I wish I could split all day,, but I'm busy doing easier work for easier money. I like the idea of having more than one saw so that you can keep at it while the adrenalin pumping. I don't take long breaks for lunch and when I do stop, its just to check the phone for business and I find myself walking around and doing stuff in the last minute or two of my 5 minute break. I hate having to sharpen even with my electric sharpener and have been changing chains instead of sharpening them til death and I just bundle up used chains in a container full of oil until I sell them in bulk. I don't cut more than a few hours a week and I can get a up to a month, maybe more without sharpening. I only get city trees but nails and hardware are not a common problem

Also, it is used to spray the underneath of vehicles and farm trailers as it sticks to metal while new oil just washes off, especially in Irish rain. As you intimated, the environmental lobby could get upset.

    of the wood we see total, what percentage was cut last year and that you have remaining to sell in the next 30 or so days? Can I assume approx 90% of the wood I see is for next winter?

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This past year I cut steady so it just keeps coming and going . right now it is probably 40% ready to sell 60% for next fall/winter.

    I agree with the multiple saws if ya got more than one bring it and use it!! I always carry at least two when I go into the woods to cut.

      Yes multiple saws is more efficient and productive.

    Chris, how often do you do an 'oil change', and overall "maintenance" on the splitter?

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It suggests every 100 hours, I do mine every 50, oil is cheap.

    Just wondering when you are splitting all-day do you do mixed splits or one type of wood? I noticed you have separated wood types but do you also have as mixed stack so if you split a mixed load you don't have to separate them into the separate piles. Hope you get that tractor it will make many things more efficient and time saving along with saving a back. I am amazed at your stamina. With the multiple equipment I was always a believer to have multiples for any break down or problem doesn't ruin the day. I was in auto detail for 25 years and that was always the solution to many days of possible ruining a day. Awesome video. Do you use music to keep you going? I always do. Seems to make the day less stressful.

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I have five saws but 3 main ones and I am getting another one. I have two splitters but haven't used the old one in 9 months. I separate the wood mostly by where it is placed for off loading the truck but also separate the strays too. Music and talk radio yes!

      Hi Dan - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I've been intrigued for some time to discover how Chris's long awaited tractor is going to enhance production unless his mode of operation changes substantially. Even then I have challenged him to justify how any increased production will finance the $25k investment. I think the jury is out on this one, I for one am sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation. In the meantime - Keep on Splitting!!
