I wish I would have known that the self cleaning feature could/would cause damage. My oven is only 2 years old. I decided to use the self cleaning feature, as something spilled in the oven that was difficult to clean up. Well, long story short, I had a $275 service bill because of damage caused by the self cleaning feature. I do not recommend using the self cleaning feature. This is a great video to explain pros and cons.

If they make a self clean oven they should insulatate it well enough.i had an old GE oven for 25 years used self cleaned twice a year before the holidays and after. Never a problem.

You don't mention one important con - the cost of energy. Just imagine how much of it is used to generate such a temperature for 3-5 hours 🙆🏻‍♂️ Maybe in USA it's not a big deal, but in my country energy prices are high.
