I love that you let your oven actually get dirty to show how well the cleaner works. Don't y'all hate channels that do these "cleaning" videos and the items aren't even dirty? Thanks for being real ladies! Tip: I take my racks out, put cleaner on them and place them in a black thick lawn care trash bag. Set outside in the sun, wait about an hour and you can rinse away the gunk with a water hose. Effortless!
Yes, it was a mess because we had been processing tallow almost everyday for a week. Nothing gets your oven greasier than melting pure fat. We just made a oven rack video that uses a trash sack and laundry soap. th-cam.com/video/lnmOIqRPj8A/w-d-xo.html I'll have to try this method and show everyone how well it works.
Well Ioved the video but I'm still going to us my self clean first and do the mixture without all the scrapping and scrubbing because it won't be as dirty.. Thanks for the tip..
Most oven doors are removable. Mines 21 years old and mine do. I discovered it quite accidentally. That way your door is able to be cleaned separately on a flat surface. Then it also makes the oven itself accessible without the door in your way. Also I bought an oven liner that helps. God Bless
Oh good! I was looking to see if someone already mentioned this ..thx! I use vinegar&water to rinse a lot of things--->cuts the suds. I also use it in the laundry rinse cycle, in place of fabric softener. Cuts the suds and actually softens the clothes. Vinegar scent dissipates and leaves no residual.
Great idea. I use Dawn and vinegar and baking soda for lots of cleaning. It turned out quite clean; however, please don't make it sound like it wasn't a ton of work, because it is. You two were working on that oven for awhile. Cleaning an oven is a lot of work.
Not if you stay on top of it, and wipe it clean ( two seconds ) after every use. Whoever allows their whole oven to get encrusted with months or years of burnt on mess, deserves this impossible chore. My oven us 10 years old, AND PERFECTLY SHINY INSIDE.
it would be less work if they used water instead of vinegar to make a paste. even less work if they used washing soda instead of baking soda, though they'd probably want to wear gloves then. If you're going to use the foamy reaction of vinegar and baking soda to help with cleaning, only use it when one or the other has already been applied to the item you're cleaning.
I usually take my stove door off. It's very easy to do. Just open half way and pull straight up, wiggling back and forth. It's also easy to put back. I can clean the sides and back of oven more easily.
With my self cleaning oven, I used it once. It set off the smoke alarms, and another alarm, I don't remember what it was for. There were 4 different alarms going off and they all had different screams. ADT called, the fire Department showed up. It was a MESS . I've only used it once. I'm so glad I found this channel. I can finally clean my oven. It's looks about like the one here that they cleaned. Now, if I could only find a friend to help me.🤪🤪
One suggestion, to make things a bit easier, most ovens have a lift-off door. You can tell by looking at the hinge. With the door open, you literally lift the hinges and the door will unhook. If you’re going through the process (maybe, once yearly) you can remove the 4 screws on the inside of the door and access the inside to clean the interior of the glass.
Ladies you did a great job and the oven looks brand new! My oven is so dirty that I couldn't get it clean using a sandblaster with diamond dust, but I will certainly give your method a try. I tried baking soda with lemon juice and it didn't do much except make a mess!!
My oven is 10 years old currently and gets heavy daily use. Looks almost exactly how it did when new. My nanna always wiped hers out with just white vinegar on a clean towelling rag while the oven was still a bit warm after every use for cooking. I have done the same for over 20 years. It takes a few minutes. No smells either. Oven never gets bad enough to have to scrub hard. I also line my oven floor with foil for preventing any baked on spills. Your mix is similar to mine. I use it for shower glass and tiles. Best thing ever. Especially for hard water stains/limescale.
Once everything is softened with your cleaner, rather than wiping it off, use an old credit card or the 'award' cards you get in the mail for contributions, to gently scrape and scoop up and dump the goop. An ice scraper or dough separator would work as well.
I also have used either an old plastic spatula that I designate strictly for cleaning purposes...or get one @the Dollar Store, just for cleaning purposes. I also use it to scoop out my gutters.
Having worked for a company that repairs ovens, we love pyrolitic cleaning as it gives us lots of work. This cleaning method also shortens the life of your oven.I will definitely be using your method. Many thanks ladies!
So if both methods (Self-Cleaning "Pyrolitic" and our natural solution) shorten the life of an oven what does a professional in the oven industry suggest. Maybe my next video will show your method.
Sorry I meant that the use of the pyrolitic function shortens the life of the oven. The natural solution is not only good for the oven but it is much better for you and your home environment!
I’ve never used the self clean function on my oven because I knew it could wreck it. Mine is 4 years old and the price has gone up a ton since I bought that kitchen aid oven microwave set. I’ll try this cleaner on the whole oven now instead of just spot cleaning.
Hey Ladies! A friend had given me your cleaning recipe! The grime melted away. To help rinse I used a spray bottle with vinegar and a copper scrubby. I can't thank you enough for your help!!
I'm going to do this to my oven. Thank you! The holidays are just around the corner & I need to prep my oven for all the cooking & baking I'm going to be doing in it.
Thank you!!!! I used your method today and it was brilliant! It took me longer to wipe away the mixture, but I could do it with ease without choking on hazardous chemicals, and most of all, it’s so cheap!!!
Thank you for this!!!! My oven was so, so, so bad that I kept putting it off thinking it would be a 2 day job. With a bunch of elbow grease and your concoction, my oven is sparkling clean
@@lindahandley5267 Open oven door to a 45° angle. Lift door upward straight in line with that 45°. The door is not screwed on to anything. Two spring loaded projections is all the door sits on. Guiding the door slots back onto those projections when returning the door is a little tricky if you doing this alone because the projections tend to spring back to upward when inadvertently touched prior to getting them into the door slots.
@@wendieo5146 Thanks so much! That will sure make it easier! I never liked the 'self-cleaning' feature. It uses a LOT of electricity and my floor in front of the oven gets extremely hot!
I had baked-on grease on a glass toaster-oven door that just would not come off at all, no matter what I tried, physical or chemical. Then I read about vinegar and baking soda. I left it on the door for three days, occasionally spraying white vinegar on to keep it active, and adding a little baking soda here and there. I was encouraged to keep going because I could see the baked on grease starting to dissolve. MIRACLE. It all came off, no scrubbing needed. I use this mixture a lot, and will now trying with Dawn, too. The only thing about cleaning the oven with this, which I do, is that it really takes work to get all the baking soda off, especially without a friend.
And yes a razor is a must in the kitchen.. especially for that door. I love the small little scraper razor holders that you can get at Lowe’s or Home Depot. I use them all the time for cleaning
Thank you .This info arrived at a perfect time. I’ve been putting off cleaning oven because I am hesitant about using the “ clean button” with no direction info with this older model of stove. Now that it is safe to do manually I’ll get it done. Great info.
I love this cleaning recipe! One tip that made the rinsing easier for me was to use a plastic putty knife and a stiff scrub brush to loosen the debris and then vacuum it out with the shop vac. Then, the rinsing went pretty smoothly. It smells great, too!
Good idea. I just watched a man clean an oven. He used a plastic spatula to scoop off the debris before wiping with a rag. Worked. Also, maybe clean the door first, then the front of the oven next before working on the sides and back; that way, you won't be dipping your elbows (and hair and clothes) into the "goo" you just soaked off the oven door! Gonna try this!
I’m a man and I loved this whole video… Waiting a couple hours now. For the solution recipe to do it’s magic. Thank you both I really enjoyed you both.❤
Thank you! It looks like a safe easy way to clean an oven!! I'll try it for sure!!.....FYI just to share a "no no" for anyone reading the comments , I tried to remove a baked on spot, about the size of a quarter, in a new oven with a paste of only baking soda and water. The next day it wiped away but also took the enamel with it!!!😱
Just use a few drops of Dawn dishsoap and a little water. Leave for maybe a couple hrs or less, and it will break down the baked on spot. Wipe clean. Works wonders....
This looks like a great method. I also like use every preventative measure to avoid any spillage in the oven when in use. Example, large pan to catch any spillage
I placed my oven racks into a heavy duty lawn bag with a half bottle of ammonia and allowed it to back in the sun on my patio. All the baked on grime came off and cleaning was very easy. You will need a generous amount of the liquid ammonia to cover the racks. I used this on my oven racks without suffering any change in the appearance of the racks they look as good as new and I also used this method to clean my barbecue grates. Excellent results!
Wow... I am impressed! At 76 years old, I can still learn new ways to do things... My range is only a few inches away from a wall, on one side, so I have a very hard time reaching into it, but I have been afraid to use the self-clean feature as I think it will damage my cupboards that are against the range. I will be trying this method.
@@lillalolo well thank you so much for commenting as now I know my intuition was correct. I am sorry your cupboards are damaged. It was kind of you to take the time to respond. God Bless
Dakiniwoman Did you clean your oven with the mixture the ladies used?? I don’t want to use the self clean on my oven same reason to close to cupboards.
@dakiniwoman Had my kitchen remodeled, which included a cabinet to house my new wall oven. First time I used the self-cleaning feature (at lowest setting) the paint on the outside of the cabinet blistered. I had to sand and repaint the damaged area. And... I've never used self-cleaning since.

Great idea! I use paint brushes for other cleaning purposes, but hadn't thought of it for the oven. I know they sell paint brushes @the Dollar Store...doesn't have to be a good quality one for this purpose!
I love that the oven is really dirty...so many times they don't use a good example. This looks more like the people's ovens out there. I am impressed....my oven needs cleaning bad...I know this will work. Thanks so much for sharing.
If you keep the surface wet with water or even a little dawn added, that razor blade method is easier and won't scratch. Also you should use a razor blade holder like those to scrape paint. It's much safer
Catherine, thank you for bringing attention on how to use a razor blade properly. I was a little concerned especially for any scratches to the glass door. My husband is a retired painter and he trained me how to make sure surfaces are wet before using a razor on them and always with a holder for them, as well. I keep it in a safe place in my kitchen. I am impressed with this video though. I, like one other reply here, have custom made painted cabinets that also house double ovens. I was told early on when they were new not to use the clean feature (Bosch ovens) as the temperature on some ovens can reach 900 degrees. It truly scared me on many levels and especially my cabinetry. Ladies, thank you for your video.
So glad I found this video. I will definitely try this.I don't like using harsh chemicals as the fumes affect my lungs. Thank goodness for TH-cam. Thank you Wisdom Preserved.
I used this "old fashioned" method ( I have asthma and am sensitive to nasty chemicals so I love the no nasty chemicals way ) to clean a really grimy oven in my apartment when I moved in. The guys that cleaned & painted before I moved in, apparently never heard of cleaning an oven. It was pretty bad.
This is great and I am definitely going to use this method. What I do with my racks is put them on my cement driveway. I hose them off with a power nozzle. A lot easier than the sink. Just a thought as it works for me. Will be using this mixture on my fiberglass shower. It sure needs something. Thanks ladies. 👍
Fantastic, I will clean my oven using your method and do it on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. That way it would be easier. Yes the auto oven leaves junk in my oven.
I dread cleaning the oven in my mom's apartment. I couldn't figure out why her place smelled so bad until she mentioned that it might be the oven. It's SO BAD. This is a great idea for the racks which can go in the laundry tub. The leaf bag and hose idea in the comments are awesome. I like the idea of having a cleaning buddy and will definitely recruit my hubby! Thanks everyone. I have two ovens to tackle before Thanksgiving!
Thank you ladies! You did such job presenting this video. The quickest way to ruin your oven or possibly burn your house down is tombs the built in oven cleaning mode. It cuts the life of your oven by more than half. I've learned the hard way!
I tried this method today! Its definitely a good non toxic oven cleaning solution, it made everything sparkle like new! I used my leftovers to scrub out my kitchen sink when I was done. I dont know if my oven just hadn't been cleaned in years but I did have to do quite a lot of scrubbing. Probably took me 2.5hrs to scrub and rinse everything and I'm still not sure I rinsed everything 🤣 hope it will be okay when I turn the oven on! There are some spots I was not able to get off so I'll have to try the razor blade method when I clean my oven next time... thanks for the tips!!!
Thank you so much. I will definitely use your method. Before I only used vinegar and baking soda without the dawn it was hard work because I didn’t leave it for at least 1 hour, I like what you guys did. Thanks again.
I had to stop my oven cleaning process to post this little warning: If you have an older oven don't use baking soda as there are far too many crevices that the baking soda gets caught up in and it is extremely difficult to get it out completely. I'm using a brush to attempt to get it, most of it out. Plus it did not clean easily at all. I cleaned my toaster oven first a couple of days ago and I put the stuff in my oven at that time too, but I'm just getting around to cleaning it out because the toaster over alone was a workout. I have to say too that this is no easy task and my oven wasn't even all that dirty! I used the exact same formula!
Thanks you ladies. I have a Miele Ovan. It cleans itself perfectly, doesn’t smell it is even made out of stainless steel that does not get fingerprint marks, or anything on it.
Self cleaning is so much easier than this but if you don't have a self cleaning this seems to work great. I really think wiping out the bottom of the oven of char is faster and much easier. Thanks ladies.
Thx for the cleaning lesson. I appreciate a good homemade cleaning recipe! Here's one for you. I put a piece of foil on the bottom of the oven inside and that's easy to change out as needed...maybe once a month...I don't cook a ton though.
I used to do that as well. A lot of the ovens now (mine included) have a hidden element. (It is under the "floor".) If you put aluminum foil on this is will literally melt and be nearly impossile to remove.
I just love what you have done giving me another way to clean ovens.I clean homes for a living, so on some of the really bad ones I am going to give it a go. Thanks for sharing.
I did this about six months ago and still have some baking soda inside the oven. Admittedly I'm old and not very agile, but cleaning all that paste out of the oven was backbreaking for me. Right now I'm running the self-cleaner.
Thanks for this tutorial! Have to do my Thanksgiving baking and there are years of grime inside my oven! Still, I feel hopeful about your method, especially that it’s a natural cleaner. Just hope my husband will lend his long arms!
You two are awesome that's great to teach others how to do this with household products that are pretty much non-toxic. A suggestion that I thought of was using a cheap paint brush to dab on the solution. May Jesus Christ bless you both during this holiday Christmas season
I recently purchased used double-ovens from an appliance repair business and was told that using Self-Clean features puts ovens at risk for needing repairs or replacement and that if I wanted my oven to last, clean by hand.
Its a great cleaning mix. You know it's a strong solution harsh enough to remove all the grunge, you might feel into wearing gloves as dawn already removes any oils and Dries out your hands and then the acid content. You need to protect your lovely hands. Thanks girls! LOVE YOU! 💘
I planned on cleaning my stove/oven over the weekend using the self-cleaning feature but I am now going to follow your directions and do it your way!!!!! I have parakeets so I as going to movement them out of the area but now they can stay where they are!!!! Thank you very much for sharing this great idea. Diane
I'm impressed you are coming away so clean yourselves. One is even wearing white..the other a light color... And your ARMS are clean...and TWO of you are able to get in and clean one oven without getting filthy, or getting the other person filthy!!! 😳 Cleaning my oven has always been a super hard and dirty job. I'm very impressed you guys!!🌹 WELL DONE !! (This is my first time seeing you two. I'm subscribing!! )
I line the bottom of my oven with aluminum foil because spillage or splattering almost always occurs. That alone makes a big difference when it comes to cleaning the oven. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to trying this formula.
@@aminakishk6571 Excellent point, Amina. Most apartments are all electric and foil is known to be a conductor of electricity. I believe, however, aluminum foil won’t catch fire until it reaches approximately 1220 Fahrenheit (660 Celsius), which could possibly apply to gas ovens. Thank you for sharing, because t's something we should all be cautious of and to do our own research especially in the event of a potential hazard.
Never put an aluminum cookie sheet on the floor of your oven if you have heating elements under the bottom floor! Been there. Done that. Husband had to remove it with a handheld grinder from his shed bc it melted!
Seriously, thanks a million! I’ve been dreading my oven cleanup session! Now I can’t wait to give it a try! Apparently, however, my oven door can be removed so hopefully that will make things easier on my back and knees! 😀
I just wanted to say thank you so much for the little things like this that you give us. I'm sure making and editing the video isn't easy, but it really is helpful. I started on a very filthy oven today, and only let it sit for about 45 minutes. But that already loosened up a lot of stuff. I have an even worse one to do in another rental, I will start that one in the morning and let it sit. This is so much easier and better than the stinky self cleaning or the harsh chemicals. I'm so glad I found your channel!
Thank you so much! It is nice to be appreciated. On average it takes an hour per minute of edited video and that is in addition to the filming. It really is a huge endeavor.
Great video. You can also put your racks in the bathtub to soak and rinse - lots more room there. And remove the oven door so you can reach to the back easier.
Oh wow ! Can’t wait to get to my ovens (2). I never have been satisfied with self cleaning feature . The charcoal residue was a eye opener too ! Thank you .
I always clean my kitchen and bathroom sinks with this solution. It works wonders!!! Great job ladies!!! Also never forgetting “DAWN” and its successful efforts in saving our wildlife during the oil spill👏🏽
Thank you for this video, ladies! I have never liked using commercial oven cleaners so I will definitely try this! You mentioned the same recipe can be used to clean the bath tub. Is it safe to use on shower tiles?
I use ‘the pink stuff’ on the over glass door and it works great. Looks brand new. Just liberally appy and let sit about 30 minutes. Comes right off. The pink stuff is amazing.
Emmaline is my daughter and my granddaughter’s middle name! It’s not a name you here every day… My daughter was named after my great grandmother. Oh, and I love the tutorial!
I am named after my great-grandmother. Emmaline was her middle name, but I am glad it is my given name. I have always loved it because there was never anyone else with the same name. Nowadays there are are a lot of forms of "Emma", but still only a handful of Emmaline's. Other than my great grandmother I had never met another Emmaline until I was 32 years old. I am glad the tutorial was helpful.
My aunt does the same thing. It's a great idea on some of the older ovens but the new ovens have a warning not to place aluminum foil in the bottom written right on them. It will literally melt the foil and it is nearly impossible to remove after it has melted. I'm not sure what the difference is but if it says to not place foil in it, I would avoid it.
Thanks for the tips, I agree that using a razor blade would scratch the glass, I use a plastic Pizza stone cleaner. You made me realize that two baked on areas in my new oven were from the self cleaning mode. I won’t t use it again. Dawn liquid is the Bomb, I make solution for my garden as a weed killer and another as insect repellant.
Thank you. I have an oven that's not a year old yet and already getting dirty. Will add vinegar and fresh baking soda to my grocery list (already have dawn) to tackle this before it gets really bad.
Tried this method today and it was AWESOME! Even the glass was clean, which never comes clean with other methods. Absolutely NO elbow grease needed to get the oven so clean. AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE SELF-CLEANING FEATURE ON OVENS: It can kill pet birds and affect your dogs and cats It also is harmful for humans with respiratory issues! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I have a self clean oven and the unit itself is the cheapest oven at lowes with other flaws, and because of those flaws - i don't trust the self-clean feature. So I am trying this today. I hope it works. I do use dawn and vinegar to clean my shower and tub as it is very safe for those surfaces. Hopefully their recipe will work on the oven.
I love the fact there is no toxic fumes like with oven cleaner and i used a plastic bread bench scraper. It didn't scratch at all but helped tremendously scrap the gunk
Wow that looks so good. I moved into a house and the oven is WAY worse than that and with the oven light on and door closed you couldn't see through the door at all! I've already tried for 2 full days (8hrs each day) to clean it with the commercial chemical cleaners, 6 rounds of the self clean steam setting, leaving the cleaner on overnight, razor blade method and still not clean. So I'm going to have to give this a try because I'm not giving up on getting it clean.

I can finally clean my oven. It's looks about like the one here that they cleaned. Now, if I could only find a friend to help me.🤪🤪
My oven is not self cleaning, and with a little dog who is very sensitive to chemicals, this is an amazing alternative. Thank you so much ♥️
Do you clean a electric stove the same way?
One suggestion, to make things a bit easier, most ovens have a lift-off door. You can tell by looking at the hinge. With the door open, you literally lift the hinges and the door will unhook. If you’re going through the process (maybe, once yearly) you can remove the 4 screws on the inside of the door and access the inside to clean the interior of the glass.
You little legend Kelly Dolan! Thank you. This was a great tip.

I am so glad you mentioned this. I have often wondered how you clean the glass on the inside, when stuff drips down. Thanks for this helpful tip!
You could also unplug and remove heating element

Ladies you did a great job and the oven looks brand new! My oven is so dirty that I couldn't get it clean using a sandblaster with diamond dust, but I will certainly give your method a try. I tried baking soda with lemon juice and it didn't do much except make a mess!!
Great idea. Here is a suggestion: Apply from back to front, remove front to back. This way you don't get messed up.
Aliminum foil of any kind throws my baking time way too low, I know, very strange. Any suggestions ?
Once everything is softened with your cleaner, rather than wiping it off, use an old credit card or the 'award' cards you get in the mail for contributions, to gently scrape and scoop up and dump the goop. An ice scraper or dough separator would work as well.
Great idea.
That was great teaching you make it look so easy thank you for that
Now I know how t9 clean a oven thank you so much
What is dawn plz explain me@@WisdomPreserved
I also have used either an old plastic spatula that I designate strictly for cleaning purposes...or get one @the Dollar Store, just for cleaning purposes. I also use it to scoop out my gutters.
What is a dough separator? Like for cutting dough into loaves?
Having worked for a company that repairs ovens, we love pyrolitic cleaning as it gives us lots of work. This cleaning method also shortens the life of your oven.I will definitely be using your method. Many thanks ladies!
So if both methods (Self-Cleaning "Pyrolitic" and our natural solution) shorten the life of an oven what does a professional in the oven industry suggest. Maybe my next video will show your method.
Sorry I meant that the use of the pyrolitic function shortens the life of the oven. The natural solution is not only good for the oven but it is much better for you and your home environment!
Good to know. I have the self clean on my oven & used it ONCE & did not care for it. This is so much better than Easy Off
I’ve never used the self clean function on my oven because I knew it could wreck it.
Great tip! Thanks for sharing.
I'm going to do this to my oven. Thank you! The holidays are just around the corner & I need to prep my oven for all the cooking & baking I'm going to be doing in it.
Marie, I appreciate you not yelling. This is my first time watching and your voice was soothing.
Welcome and thank you. This was one of our first videos and it can be hard to estimate what your volume should be in the beginning.
Great job!
Some ovens have removable doors which makes it easier to clean. Just a reminder. People forget about the option.
We didn't even think of that. Great idea!
And the "drawer" is usualky a broiler. Most people dont use them because they are too hard to clean 😀
I'm going to find out how to take mine off!
Amazing. I watched this video this morning and tried it. Just finished and my oven is Sparkling! Thank you.
Wonderful!
This is Great!! I did my oven and it's squeaky clean. Thank Ladies..I'm new here and looking forward to more. Stay blessed Ladies
I am so glad you love it.
I add spray vinegar to do the final clean and to moisten the crud for removal.
I’m a man and I loved this whole video…
Waiting a couple hours now.
For the solution recipe to do it’s magic.
Thank you both
I really enjoyed you both.❤
Fantastic!
Thank you! It looks like a safe easy way to clean an oven!! I'll try it for sure!!.....FYI just to share a "no no" for anyone reading the comments , I tried to remove a baked on spot, about the size of a quarter, in a new oven with a paste of only baking soda and water. The next day it wiped away but also took the enamel with it!!!😱
This looks like a great way to clean my oven.At 72 cleaning is a bit more arduous.so Thank you ladies.I will even try this cleaner on my stove
Maybe thats why its only left on for an hour. Thanks for the tip, I may have done the same thing.

Wow..thanks for sharing that😦
Just use a few drops of Dawn dishsoap and a little water. Leave for maybe a couple hrs or less, and it will break down the baked on spot. Wipe clean. Works wonders....
Soaking oven racks in the bathtub works well but I put a towel in the bottom of the tub so they don't scratch the surface.
That is such a good idea. I will try that next time. Thanks for the tip.
I'm going to use your tip too. Have a blessed day.

I used my silicone spatula to remove the cleaner before the water wash. I also used my out door grill brush for the racks. Nice video.
Great ideas!
I tried it and my 0ven came out fab
Ohh that's clever for two reasons.. You surely wont scratch the oven or have to reach as much!
@@adriennemacdonald3828 it didn't work well for me. Maybe I didn't use enough of the paste. Did you have to scrub hard?
Wow... I am impressed! At 76 years old, I can still learn new ways to do things... My range is only a few inches away from a wall, on one side, so I have a very hard time reaching into it, but I have been afraid to use the self-clean feature as I think it will damage my cupboards that are against the range. I will be trying this method.
It did damage our cupboards-we heard a loud cracking pop and now we have a large gap…..

Love this, I always put tin foil at the bottom of the oven. I just remove it when dirty and put in another piece. Never have to clean bottom of oven
Can't do that with the new ovens anymore. It messes with the electronics and will wreck your stove.
It’s more fun having a bud to help you. Thanks!

I make an alcohol and dawn daily shower spray that works
terrific.
@Shelley Krier Can you share that please??
If you keep the surface wet with water or even a little dawn added, that razor blade method is easier and won't scratch. Also you should use a razor blade holder like those to scrape paint. It's much safer
Keeping wet is easier with a spray bottle with Dawn and BS.
I am. Cleaning my oven Today. I have been inspired by your video. Thanks.
You are so welcome!
I’ve been looking for a better way to clean my oven. Thanks!
Great idea!
Fantastic, I will clean my oven using your method and do it on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. That way it would be easier. Yes the auto oven leaves junk in my oven.
That's a great idea!
I have two ovens to tackle before Thanksgiving!
here's a great oven racks video tutorial that Emmaline made: th-cam.com/video/lnmOIqRPj8A/w-d-xo.html
Thanks
Thank you so much. I will definitely use your method. Before I only used vinegar and baking soda without the dawn it was hard work because I didn’t leave it for at least 1 hour, I like what you guys did. Thanks again.
You are so welcome!
Thanks for sharing! It sounds like a great oven.
Self cleaning is so much easier than this but if you don't have a self cleaning this seems to work great. I really think wiping out the bottom of the oven of char is faster and much easier. Thanks ladies.
Julie Pippin, Self -cleaning does not work so great. It is also not good if you have pets or birds. It also does harm to your ceramic starter.

I did this about six months ago and still have some baking soda inside the oven. Admittedly I'm old and not very agile, but cleaning all that paste out of the oven was backbreaking for me. Right now I'm running the self-cleaner.

Hi guys I watched your video and I try it and my oven is cleaner than it has been thank you so much
I recently purchased used double-ovens from an appliance repair business and was told that using Self-Clean features puts ovens at risk for needing repairs or replacement and that if I wanted my oven to last, clean by hand.
I line the bottom of my oven with aluminum foil because spillage or splattering almost always occurs. That alone makes a big difference when it comes to cleaning the oven. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to trying this formula.
Our apartment owners won’t let us use foil on oven bottom… they say it is a fire hazard, never had an oven fire all my life….
@@aminakishk6571 I put a sheet pan on the lowest rack and that seems to help.
I just make sure whatever's in the oven is covered as far as spillage I put one cookie sheet on the lower shelf never line anything with aluminum foil

Thanks for the tips!
Oh wow ! Can’t wait to get to my ovens (2). I never have been satisfied with self cleaning feature . The charcoal residue was a eye opener too ! Thank you .

Yes
I use the bathtub to wash the racks...then clean tubs with Dawn etc...whole lot easier to just soak, rinse and dry...thank you for doing this video...
I line the bottom of my oven with foil. Throw it out after spills and replace.
Warning: you cannot use foil liner with the newer hidden element stoves…FYI!
Expensive and wasteful!

I use a spatula to do the first scraping before moving to rags but what a great idea. Going to try this instead of the usual caustic oven cleaner.

Thank you. I have an oven that's not a year old yet and already getting dirty. Will add vinegar and fresh baking soda to my grocery list (already have dawn) to tackle this before it gets really bad.
I'm glad I found this video. Thank you so much, I will do mine tomorrow. Appreciate what you have taught us.
Not my idea of a party, but its good to know this natural technique.
I liked that too.
