You should buy a tripod/camera stand so you can do stuff double handed? Something you can bend and aim exactly where you want.

Have you ever considered putting dividers in the completed figure bins and diving them by first digit of set number? Not sure if that would be more trouble than it’s worth but you could definitely find things quicker that way

Why wouldn't you mark the figure with the unique figure number vs the set number? What do you do when the figure appears in multiple sets. I use unique figure number. Makes it easy to figure out if i have the correct figure.
