On Zoo Tours we've learned where certain animals are from, what they eat, and why they're threatened in the wild. I'm happy to say this time we are staying away from all that. The Akron Zoo's Legends of the Wild (2005) isn't just some random name with a bunch of random animals. Most of the marvels on this path through South America, Madagascar, Asian Highlands and even a nocturnal house are associated with some sort of story, urban myth or legend. You'll find out why Alpacas are the world's greatest gift, why lemurs are a bad omen, how the jaguar got its spots, how the snow leopard cheated to become king of the mountain, and much more!

Before the Barnhardt Family Welcome Center, Legends of the Wild, and Penguin Point was built, there was a small exhibit area by the entrance that had pied tamarins and cotton top tamarins.

This was an interesting tour! I was really intrigued with some of the legends behind some of these amazing animals, I can possibly see Disney getting some inspirations from these sorts of stories someday.
