  • General Secretary of the RMT has said the government are running the country's public services into the ground.
Speaking to PoliticsJOE on Wednesday, Mick Lynch said plans to close ticket offices were a prime example of the Tories' raging war on the United Kingdom, to the detriment of the people living there.

It’s not only Sunak. They have all been doing that for the last 12 years. I think the Tories have been dismantling the country since the 80s ( I also consider Blair a Tory).

@@adrianpyne2272hardly it’s a good cover though. You might wanna look up the financial services legislation that he is pushing through, and who he is connected with, or indeed, where his money is, his plans and the particular nature of which businesses his focus is on. Aside from bleeding dry, the public services and the failing to act on privatisation just consider the fact that corruption has tripled under Sunak, having already increased under May. It is it records unseen previously.
There is a vast cornucopia of reasons that demonstrate corruption, what is remarkable is how no one is reporting on these immense changes, which will essentially remove the protections that came into place after the financial crash.
So not only does he want to remove multitudes of rights, which make it cheaper for his companies that and his friends companies, far less safe workers, but actively remove financial protections, which, according to economists will put us in danger of another immense fast financial crash, but you know it will be well timed at least because they’ll be a labour government so Tories can then complain about that way into the future, if they are ever re-elected that is.

@adrianpyne2272 The proof will be in the pudding. Come back to me in 12 months and we will see where we are. Meanwhile party boy Sunak, his wife and the rest of the tories will continue to trash the economy, feather their own nests and laugh at the plebs from their mansions. I'm not saying labour are any better, they are all as bad as each other. Corrupt, self serving and they couldn't give two hoots about you. If you were broken down at the side of the road it would be me in the rain giving you a hand, I guarantee Sunak wouldn't stop to help.

I remember watching parliament as a child thinking.. "All they do is argue the opposite, doing the right thing doesn't cone into it". Even when a Politician had a good idea, the opposition would veto it, just for the sake of underming their opponents. Sadly, nothing has changed, it's merely a game to them. Rees Mogg is obnoxious and in it for one person. Dianne Abbot can't do basic maths. Boris was a compulsive liar. Sunak doesn't know the first thing about the struggles people are having... at the homeless centre when he asked "are you in business" to a homeless man. Unbelievable. Angela Raynor - she opens her mouth and earns/demands zero respect, she's totally out of her depth with no ideas or response, it's like listening to a 12 year old on a school council meeting. Corbyn... he and his idiotic brother are frankly dangerous, I wouldn't be suprised If they were being covertly supported by China and Russia just to undermine our entire system. He genuinely wanted to get rid of our nuclear deterrent.

I see you're in Glasgow and are lucky to live in Scotland. People think most English people don't mind supporting the monarchy, but the truth is there's no choice. The poverty in the UK is rife and food banks can't manage anymore. The wages have stagnated for so long that people are worse off every year. It's unsustainable. No wonder so many people are angry and tired of these nonsense politicians.

I was a visitor to the UK last month, who paid £277 in advanced purchase of two return rail tickets to Cornwall from London.
Due to the train strike, I lost 2 days of my 4-day holiday.
I still support the strike action of British rail worker unions. Rail travel in the UK is expensive, and not worthy of a high using population.

As a Paramedic in the UK, I feel public service is one of the most important callings there is. The government would do well to remember that, and why they took up their posts in the first place. Namaste x

It's only thanks to the station staff that I have managed to navigate this zoo that the under-subsidised UK railway system becomes every time there is problem. I bet the next step - after abandoned stations attract crime - will be government pushing for more police presence. Same old, same old...
📢 We stand with the rail workers!

The railways are more subsidised than they were under BR.
Only difference is that all that money is going to private shareholder twats and not back into the network.

Mick is so right about dehumanising society as a whole, people who do not like to do banking etc online or who don’t know how to use online services are being completely fucked over and it’s making life that is already difficult for many elderly people even more of a struggle. Removing in person services is destroying accessibility for so many people, all in the greedy pursuit of profit

Talking about 'de-staffing', I complained about the checkout queue's in Sainsbury's yesterday. A member of staff told me that only 3 checkouts will be staffed across the whole business in the next few months....and customers will be forced to queue at 'self-service' check-outs; or 'shop elswhere'. Disgusting!
