I've been a union member and a socialist since '71, I've seen a LOT of "firebrands" giving their all for our cause... Mick Lynch is someone very unique in his ability to galvanise a room by pure belief in the struggle for working class rights, He's walking in the same footsteps of Dennis Skinner, Nye Bevan , John Maclean, to name only a few. I adore watching him tear the fabric out of the comfy sofa of the media every time he appears on screen. We're looking at a working class hero who isn't yet to be embraced by ALL socialists, but it's coming for sure.

Unfortunately, the Labour Party no longer represents the working man. I’m no socialist, but I do have some traditional left leaning views. However, I no longer think that the old left/right, blue/red is a thing anymore. There’s too much polarisation along every line possible. We all need to find some common ground. As for Lynch, I don’t fully agree with his political views but, my god, can that bloke articulate the plight of the working class. Love it when he tears the MSM a new ring piece.

I want to repeat my lovely Dad's words when asked by Radio Sheffield at a 30th anniversary meeting of the 84/85 miner's strike in the last days of his life, ...Sir what would you like to say about that 1 year long "battle" with British Coal AND Government intervention....He simply said "I would do it all over again"...I knew he ment it... I was the proudest man in the whole world to spend that particular year with him and march back together....I would do it also in a heartbeat....please stay together and fight. This is the last Alamo for the wealth creators, the working class.....Solidarity

The eugenicists have formed their own solidarity. If it wasnt bad enough they became Putin's stooges.
Were fighting a faceless enemy with many faces. We cant target the individuals theyre simply replaced, we have to address eugenics in our government and insure full mental evaluations are in place to keep the other lunatics out.
For us..being a danger to yourself and others is sectionable.
If your a complete empathyless psychopath, and in government or finance...nobody even blinks.
Its gone too far, its not sustainable. They need to go. Now.

Wonderful comment. The NUM were utterly correct in their analysis and decision to fight: if the Government wins our sector will be utterly destroyed. It was. Same is true for Nursing, Rail, Ambulance Service, State Education, Junior Doctors… exactly the same as your father’s fight. Only this time the workforces will win… even if they have to fight Starmer too.

Now that's a proper political speech.
We're so used to these wishy-washy, self serving, difficult question avoiding so called politicians these days that there are probably many people who haven't heard this kind of speech. A true man of conviction and passion really speaking on behalf of the ordinary working person.
I was a proud member of the RMT during my railway days, under the leadership of Bob Crowe. I didn't think anyone could fill Bob's shoes, then along comes Mick Lynch.
I remember being shocked at the younger generation's cynical attitude towards unions when I was on the GWR. I had to explain to them that every single benefit and perk they had in the job, every single right and protection was thanks to the labour movement. I remember saying "Do you honestly think that the employers willingly gave you your holidays, your sick pay, your decent wages etc etc out of the goodness of their hearts. Of course they didn't. They were fought for every step of the way by organised workers forcing and demanding these issues."
I think I got through to some of them, but this cynicism is something that has been growing for decades. The young need to be educated and we need to be truly proud of all the good things socialism has brought us, like the NHS.
As I write this my son is packing his bags and moving from London, where he has lived all his life, to Swindon, because he can't afford to live in his home town any more.....He is on the railways as a dispatcher, he has supported the strikes and suffered as a consequence, but he sees the wider picture.
I'm proud of him, I'm proud of my old union...
Keep up the good work Mick.

Thanks Stephen. Yes, education is definitely the way. Mick was referring to all those brave people in earlier times who faced such terrible retribution if they dared to stand up to those with wealth and power, this is what the young need to learn about....the sacrifices these people made and the suffering they went through just so they could survive.
Then I look at the Tories now and I can see nothing has changed, it really it makes me fume. How dare this uncaring pampered “elite” put us all through this turmoil and struggle. They’re toying with us and people need to get angry about it and unite, or they’ll pull us apart.

. Im in constant admiiratiion of the workers who drive the trucks and put food on the shelves of the supermarkets every morning . A city could be starving within one week if all those " taken for granted " people, weren't there. . I remember an old man remarking that " the youth of the world had gotten out of hand " , He then added that " a blast of hunger would put manners on em all " It was kind of comical over reaction, but brought into focus how reliant we all are on each other for survival. God Bless You Mick.
