Hi Saukki-I am a 77 yo living in Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia (semi tropical climate). I ride an HP Velotechnik Scorpion FS20 with a Bionx E-assist every other day for up to 30 kms. We are very lucky with a sunny climate nearly all year round and mostly warm to hot. How do you think a velomobile would go in this climate? I have the feeling it might be too hot? I quite fancy an E-assist model which makes some allowance for my age. It would be nice to increase my present average speed of only 18 kph and perhaps be able to travel a bit further? Any advice you can offer would be truly appreciated.
Most of the velomobile models might be too hot for a hot climate. More aerodynamic models have less ventilation. But then you can make more ventilation holes, but that will make the aerodynamics worse. I would choose a head-out model with a large opening. And then have a some kind of cover for that opening for a bad weather. Much like my Quest has. I think most of the bubble like models where you sit completely inside are too hot. You can add e-assist to almost all velomobile models, so I don’t think that will be a problem.

Have you look in the prototype for enclosed bikes?

Is it possible for you to test a rotovelo?
That would be interesting. But I don’t think there is a rotovelo anywhere near. But if I ever find one, I’m sure going to make a video about it.
But is it faster than a catrike 700 or a fast recumbent?

Yes, other than the wobbly seat and worn out gelcote, it was in good condition. I feel that the price (8300€) is little bit too high, but I don't know how to value the E-assist. It has only about 500 km in the clock, so it should be like new. But then again it is two years old. So, I don't know. Maybe the price is too high, maybe it's right for this velomobile. I really don't know.

No joo. Siihen nähden, että mun oma kinneri maksoi 8400€ uutena koti ovelle toimitettuna, niin onhan tuo pari vuotta vanhasta kinneristä vähän korkeahko hinta. Mutta tuossa on sähköavustus, joka tietenkin vähän nostaa hintaa. Mekaanisestihan tuo on ihan kunnossa, mutta ei se silti ihan uutta vastaava ole.
