  • I was on holiday in Portugal when news broke that Roger Moore had passed away. That night, I ended up a bit drunk (not that I'm blaming that on Roger Moore!) and the last one awake, which led to sad-git-fan-mode being activated and me pulling this together on my laptop. It wouldn't upload after I made and then I forgot all about it. Only just found it again, so here it is.

      James Henderson Moore was the perfect Bond. He fitted perfectly in his time. Nobody played Bond with that touch of charisma and humor. Could you imagine Craig driving with a Bondola in Venice?

      James Henderson I can't even imagine how miserable one's life must be, to feel joyfully about a death in general. Moore brought first class entertainment and a lot of humor to a whole generation and is still very popular to this day. I wonder if we can say this about you as well, three years after your death.

      Mongo Boogie I had to look up just what does "pristine" means in the dictionary (Q keeps asking Bond to return his gadgets in pristine conditions) and realized it was an impossible task for Bond. Yes it wasn't "nice" of him to keep trashing the gadgets especially the souped up cars, but if he even so much as discharged the weaponry in the gadgets such as the tear gas in the FRWL briefcase or fired the darts in the Moonraker wrist guns or used the batteries in his laser watch in GoldenEye, they would cease to be "pristine".

    The charm of Roger Moore's stint as 007 was his dry wit. He knew these were absurd escapist adventures and so he played Bond with a roguish wink and a nod to the audience. Some have said he did a bit of ad libbing on a few of those cheeky one-liners. Another fact: he was originally in the running as the first Bond along with Connery and even played him in a made-for-TV special a few years before Fleming's books became films.

    Roger Moore was the best 007 by a mile. Wit, humour, charm, manners and the perfect Gentleman. Sadly attributes which Daniel Craig has none of.

    • @jakemay637
      @jakemay637 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Sircxx.
      Craig is for tombstones..
      1/ Moore and Bronson were ambassadors for the brand, gentlemen.
      2/ Craig was not an ambassador. He admitted he hated Bond and did it only for the money. A slap in the face of fans ... it's beyond me ppl would support him. I realize it's acting but when the actor bluntly says he only does it for cash .... But fans enjoy the Bond Bourne, self pitying, playing to lose..yet ppl says he's realistic.. breaking off doorknobs with his hand, ok.
      3/ Craig was Bond of the books.
      Aside from Casino Royal, Bond developed a sense of humor and laffed at himself...by OHMSS and YOLT he was hilarious. In fact. Fleming would giggle when writing.
      A fav scene in YOLT:
      Tiger and Bond are lunching in a country inn.
      Bondo san's lobster begins waltzing off his plate.
      "My God, Tiger! It's alive!"
      "Really, Bondo-san. Your Western sensibilities are really unbecoming." (paraphrase)
      Tiger in the film was also very funny, especially with the silly dubbed voice. I suppose Toshiro Mifune would be good, too, if he was funny. But Tetsuro Tampa was on target.
