Railfanning Norwalk / Santa Fe Springs - 8/2/15

In response to not being able to railfan here the day before, I decided to go back to the Norwalk / Santa Fe Springs Metrolink Station to give it another go in hopes of getting some action on this Sunday, and amazingly, another intermodal train happens to be parked in the station ! After driving for about an hour and a half here, I decided to just go ahead and railfan with the train blocking some of the views in hopes that it would move, and to my advantage it sure enough gets going after a couple trains pass. All in all, this station is rather nice in architecture but when it comes to railfanning, it has got to be one of the trickiest places to railfan, mainly because there isn't just only one, but two blind curves at either end of the station. It was rather tricky to tell through the sound of the rails (hot rails) if trains were coming, but I managed to catch all the trains while I was here and even get some nice horn action as well.
Exempted Train Information (Idled Train) :
BNSF S-CHILAC1-31A with ES44C4(DPU), & ES44C4 #6779(DPU). (Lead locomotive numbers unknown)
Train 1 : Metrolink #664 with F59PH #868 & CabCar #643. Friendly conductor on Metrolink #664 !
Train 2 : BNSF Q-LACALT5-02A with ES44C4 #6613, ES44DC, C44-9W, & ES44C4. Friendly crew on this train with a blast of the horn from the engineer and wave from the conductor !
Train 3 : Amtrak 777 with CabCar #6951 & F59PHI #462. This train approached just as the BNSF intermodal passed. Also note the broken ditch light on CabCar #6951.
Train 4 : BNSF S-LACHOU1-02A with ES44C4 #6787, ES44C4, & ES44C4. This train followed the previous eastbound intermodal very closely behind.
Train 5 : Metrolink #665 with CabCar #660 & MP36PH-3C #901. This has got to be one of the most awesome engineers I've met ! Metrolink #665 was having some door probems so the engineer popped the window open and said "We've got a bad door. We'll be leaving." He then asked, "Is it gonna go on TH-cam ?" I answered yes and he says, "I'm gonna give you a good horn show." and closes his window. As soon as he pulls the train forward, he gives an awesome horn show with my first and unexpected "Shave and a Haircut" as well !!! Talk about an awesome engineer !
Train 6 : Amtrak 580 with F59PHI #461 & CabCar #6900. Of all the trains I caught today, Amtrak 580 was the most unexpected of all trains with just seconds to spare !
Train 7 : Metrolink #752 with F59PH #859 & CabCar #662. Metrolink #752 pulls in right after the idle BNSF S-CHILAC1-31A pulls away and clears the station.
Train 8 : BNSF B-LACSBD1-02A with ES44C4 #6778, & #7006. Pretty cool seeing this type of baretable train with empty trailers for intermodals as well.
Train 9 : Amtrak 579 with CabCar #6907 & F59PHI #459.
Train 10 : Amtrak 582 with F59PHI #454 & CabCar #6908. Nice shot with the lighting in my opinion !
Train 11 : BNSF Z-CHILAC9-31L with C44-9W #4008, ES44DC #7308, C44-9W #4091, & ES44C4 #6868. This train was certainly chugging hard !
Train 12 : BNSF S-LACALT3-02A with ES44C4 #8253, #6806, #7170, & #6716. I finally managed to get a ground shot of a BNSF intermodal !
