I have owned an E30M3 since 2001, but mine is now heavily modified (track car), so its value is reduced accordingly. When I bought it I only paid $12k for a clean example. I personally wouldn't want to own a stock example, unless just as an "investment". They really don't make very good street cars...they are temperamental, have no torque, and most modern mini-vans would beat one in a stop light drag race. These cars only really come alive on the track or on Sunday afternoon 8/10ths canyon runs. In it's element, it is the best handling/most satisfying to drive car I have ever owned. By buying up a huge percentage of E30M3s on the market and asking very high prices to re-sell them, EAG IMHO is almost single handedly responsible for transforming the E30M3 from an enthusiast/track car that is regularly driven to a collector/investor car that is kept bone stock and parked in climate controlled garages. This probably would have eventually happened anyway, but as I see it EAG pushed the snowball down the hill. Whether that is good or bad depends on your perspective, I guess.
If only EAG opened up a West Coast operation. I'd bring my car there in a heartbeat. Might pay a little more, but they're going to get it right the first time.
Paul - most of the cars in our workshop are shipped to us for our program resetting the baseline so that the needs moving forward are minimal by your local service center or DIY’er. Currently 25%+ of our Rejuvenation program cars in process were shipped to EAG from California. Drop us an email to learn more!
