The whole last part about actually saying “I’d like to take you on a date” so the boundaries are established and everyone knows what’s going on...gold. This is how it should be. No confusion no guessing no games. Set the standard. This is what I long for, but sadly there are few men in the world who will do this. God bless you two. My 2 cents... The word "date" used to have a very standard meaning. 2 people, both acknowledging an attraction to the other, to do an activity to learn more about the other, with an eye towards finding out if they were compatible and if they wanted to go on more dates. Note! This is not exclusive. People went on dates with multiple people in the same week/month.
These days, I find that some people use this old definition, and some use a definition more along the lines of courting... Those people will ask "are we dating"... To which an answer of "yes" is interpreted to mean that the couple is exclusive.
In the old days, exclusivity used the term "going steady".
So the danger of using the term "date"... Is that is can set up a false expectation in the girl has the modern definition in mind.
Where with "hang out" there is no risk of setting up a false expectation of exclusivity.

I know I'm anxious about dates like that, because while you both might be interested in each other, it's still a little frightening to feel like you're putting your already solid friendship at risk by taking another step. What are some ways to take steps into a more intimate and deep friendship? How do you approach romance after having been "just friends" for so long?

Yes, absolutely! Wear something that you are comfortable and confident in.

Yes! Activities are always the way to go for a first date! It allows you to have something to focus on in case you come across an awkward pause in the conversation. Plus it will give you more things to talk about as you are doing whatever activity you decide on. Going to dinner could be awkward because if you have an awkward pause there is nothing to distract you and could make for a cringy time.

Oh my goodness!! My dad owns over 30 pairs of shoes. As a girl who’s dad dresses well it is so attractive when a guy cares about how he looks! It’s not even a certain style, it’s just clean, well fitting clothes.

I am not much for shoes but I think as long as it fits the outfit and they're not really old or dirty then it's fine. My husband has always been much more about shoes than I have been 😂 I wonder if he judged my shoes when we first dated lol
I prefer essential oils to cologne. Some people are actually sensitive to scents. Also, shoes don't necessarily matter that much to me. Just something nice, not hobo, is my standard. :0) For me, it is more about who they are and what they do more than how they look. 1 Samuel 16:7. Daniel and you are awesome. I really enjoyed this video Emily and Daniel! Sometimes I wonder if young ladies out there today still even want a gentlemen but I know someday I will find my God loving woman who loves the gentlemen way of being treated. I think I truly have just been looking in the wrong areas and ways. YES on the shoes (Holla!). The only thing I'd add is to also find out if the girl can tolerate fragrances. I'm one of those people who are really sensitive to scents -- ranging from non-stop sneezing to feeling like I can't breathe -- so that's just a side note to the gentlemen.

Okay, I'm not crazy!! While I'm not a huge shoe person, good shoes do matter to me. I've felt so bad in the past for being turned off by a guy who wears clunky, falling apart, cheap, 90's tennis shoes. Great video! I totally agree with all these things. I just want to add one more tip- and this goes with manners:
I think it’s really important for a man (and woman) to be polite to the waitressing staff/ servers or any worker you may come across on the date. A person who is rude to someone who works in customer service says a lot about their character.
