This comment is only showing that you've only heard Travis play one style. He definitely can groove, and has in a lot of his songs, but if you only hear the songs of his that get radio play (Blink) then you're missing out on a huge chunk of his drumming catalog.
Jazz doesn't mean you're good and Travis isn't limited. He's skilled and should be respected as making drums more popular. He's doing good for us drummers.
Buddy Rich only played Big Band and Jazz with traditional stick grip. So what? And Travis DOES play diverse forms of music, but you will have to dig for it. He is just such a marketing genius that he can ride being 1/3 of a delinquent pop punk band with a handful of hits to the bank for fifteen years. I appreciate him for turning kids on to drums. I also respect his dedication to rudiments. I like his students as well. Check out Ilan Rubin- he plays for NIN now and is one of the best guys out.

I am not sorry for saying this but TB has only one dynamic level in his playing. That would be FFFF the guy can't groove to save his life. He has one style of playing and that is it. If he was a painter all he could paint would one thing. Example: TB can paint ducks. That is it. Nothing else! He can't paint landscape clouds, trees, grass or any other than a duck. He needs to spend more time practicing than getting tattoos to try to make himself cool. He is a limited player.
