Thank you for continuing on your Opeth journey. I'm a 65yr old rock and metal head who loves so many brilliant bands..from the 60' s to the present day..and I would have to say Opeth are right there among my top 10. I really love this band...from the very first album Orchid to the present..In Cauda Venenum.
The Watershed album is a brilliant mixture of both styles of the band ...as you say brighter but still with heavy themes.
The whole album is brilliant...the laughing at the end of this track morphs into the next one... Porcelain Heart...I recommend you listen to that one next..I do think you will end up listening to the whole album.

This album, Watershed, is freaking amazing, as well as the Still Life album. Of course I like them all but those 2 are my favorites.

The best powerballad ever written and executed.
What a great tune this is. It's so lush production-wise. And this is one of my favorite guitar harmony outros ever. And yeah, that final bit is a riot. Cheers!
This is a great album and has some very unique songs on it. The way it goes from light and clean songs to some of their heaviest stuff can really keep you awake while listening.
I like both their drummers. Their newer drummer seems to be a little more “jazzy” but he came into this band during a pretty big change on their sound.
Mario joined a band called Soen and they have put out a few albums. Two of them I listen to often. Decent band. Maybe more mainstream than Opeth in sound.
I love the guitar leads on this one!
Watershed is an amazing album,the later progg albums are also epic,but then I love all era's of the band,I would easily recommend seeing them live if you get the chance.
Martin Axenrot on this album is increadable but my favorite Drummer is Martin Lopez and his work is very good. After I discovered him I changed my Kit and cymbals and 15 years later when I sit down to practice it's all Lopez

Its a heavy weight. Opeth music that is.
I liked the song but after the vocals were finished it kind of fizzled imo.
