Your Ghost of Perdition reaction video sent me on a journey with Opeth. I listened to every studio album once and I have to say, I wish I got into them sooner. I'm really not a growl fan, but their music and dynamic changes make it so much more palatable for me and I found myself enjoying it. It's rare I will take a song and dive into a band like this and I can't express enough how much their melodies stay in my head. Plus there's some dirty riffs that just hit so well. Good stuff!
All my favorite bands started with an intrigued upped eyebrow. Like "do i like this or not?" kind of feeling. But after 3 or 4 more listens i always feel overwhelmed by the awesomeness i'm listening to. It all begins to make sense. It was like that with Opeth too. When i heard The Drapery Falls for the first time, i was amazed by the beginning of the song, but when the growls came i was a bit disappointed. After those 3 listens, i wouldn't have it any other way. The only growls i really love are from Mikael's throat. Many others are okay and bearable, but Opeth rules. From production to the people on this band, everything seems perfect to me. One of those bands that were destined to exist, like the world would't be the same without it. I used to have that feeling as a teenager when i first heard bands like Pink Floyd and stuff. It's like you can't imagine our world without their music. Opeth have it all, you just have to get used to the growls and in no time you'll see they're just perfect for the sections they're on. But then you have their last 4 albums right up your alley... 😉
Hessians, (pronounced "Heshens") Fought in behest of the British during the Revolutionary war against the colonies. They are also a motorcycle gang in modern day America, akin to the Hell's Angels... Love me some Opeth!
Hard to pick a favorite Opeth track, but this has to be my nr.1 of any band. Funny how many familar names turn up in the comments when searing for Opeth and Leprous reaction. Seems to be a small community of others with this strange hobby :)
@@snordal Anytime a friend has been open to listening to Opeth, I send them this track (ok, not "anytime," but the 3 times I was asked). And there's something simple, wonderful and human about wanting other people to love what you love. TH-cam lets old dudes like me feel like a kid again, watching new fans be born.

Love this,I get it with the growls thou,from 2011 the last 4 opeth albums have none,sounds like 70,s prog ,still awesome thou.

They've got soooo many good (and better than that) songs, but this is the one with the most interesting and evil build up.
Not really my cup of tea but I did enjoy some parts.
