    Hey guys. Terrific work and professionalism personified. Watching all your videos for inspiration. Here in Ireland we don't install very many decks but install a lot of natural stone patios along with porcelain. Keep up the great work and thank you for taking the time to make these informative vlogs. Sláinte.🍻👈😉👍

      No decks in Ireland because of the non stop rain! Natural stone is much safer in the rain.
      (Porcelain should stay in the bathroom!). We have that problem in Manchester too. Seen many people slip on mossy decks.

    Great work! I'm still working on my own deck--using Costa and Mesquite. I'm using Pro-plug screws. Sometimes when I'm installing the screws they won't sink below the surface, they just spin on top. I thought I had it figured out and got most to go in, but some just won't. Any tips, Sean? Also I'm getting some white-ish marks on the boards when installing plugs. I'm using a regular hammer, like you did here and I don't think I'm hitting too hard. Unfortunately I started installing my plugs in the most visible spot on my deck, lol.
    I wish I could post some pics for you.
    Oh, and I made a big mistake when cutting board edges. I let my circular saw, guard still retracted hit the deck surface before blades stopped. Got a good gash in two boards. I nearly cried. I'll be testing out some repairs on scrap pieces--thought I'd try a heat gun.
    One more thing, I'm about to install some of those tiny recessed lights. I really like the inlite brand, but they're so pricey. I think I'm using the ones you have in your Amazon shop. Any advice on those? I'm doing a random pattern. My deck is low to the ground, so I need to do most of the work from the top. For the power cord, I used one of those desk grommets in a deck board to run it under the deck.
    Thanks for all of the advice and ideas you've posted! Love your videos
    Lynn in NC

      @THEpremieroutdoor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like an awesome project!! For the plugs, make sure you pre drill them with a 3/16” bit, only through the top half of material, you don’t need to pre drill through the whole board. That should take care of the white rings, but I’ve also heard you can use a heat gun on those to remove them. Like always try it on a test piece first!

    • @lynnwilhelm7928
      @lynnwilhelm7928 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@THEpremieroutdoor Thanks, I am predrilling then I'm using the pro-plug tool. I'm definitely going to try out my heat gun on some scraps.
      One more Q, do you ever use paint on the ends of Deckorator's boards? Dr Decks does that on Azek, but I haven't seen you doing it yet. I think I'll give it a try as I have some visible ends--mostly on the bench I built.

    love the railing bar, nice work! How do these new deckorators stair lights compare to other lights you've been using?

    • @THEpremieroutdoor
      @THEpremieroutdoor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks a lot!! First time using them but they have a nicer light to light connection than the other ones we were using, we’re doing a lot more of them so we’ll show the system a little more probably in the next video!

  • @PaulSmith-ty8jm
    @PaulSmith-ty8jm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you do more railing bar tops, would you consider making space for a removable stainless steel drinks / ice holder? Also, any reason for not doing to side railing (so an ‘L’ shape) as well?

    • @THEpremieroutdoor
      @THEpremieroutdoor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We’ve actually done a drink trough in the past but the top would have needed to be much deeper than this one. They have a fireplace right inside that door so they are going to have a firewood rack against that side railing

    You know what? It's great to see you make some mistakes. It adds to the realism of the whole thing frankly.
    One question, though - is there any reason I've never seen you use glass panels instead of railings yet?
    I felt certain, given the lakeside view, that you would use glass panels this time.
    If you install an rgbw led strip into the handrail, it creates an amazing effect on the bevelled edges of the glass, too!

    • @THEpremieroutdoor
      @THEpremieroutdoor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We’ll have to start documenting our mistakes a lot more closely cause we make plenty 🤣. Honestly no reason for not using glass other than it’s not very popular in our area. With that being said I’m sure we’ll do some glass eventually!!

    Love that bar top great idea! Would have done glass instead of the rails for the unobstructed view?

    • @THEpremieroutdoor
      @THEpremieroutdoor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That why we went with this rail pattern instead of a wall!

  • @elroy9186

    Few questions about the skirting. What's the space between boards? Are those 5.5 or 8 inch wide? What's behind the skirting, it is framed or is it painted ply? Thanks!
